Hello Brasileira, Is it possible to enroll for public Portuguese language class (school) as a tourist in Brazil?
Brasileira:

Yes, you can change your status to a study visa while in Brazil. For normal universities, it may be difficult because you only have a maximum of 6 months stay with your tourist visa. For Portuguese language schools, yes it’s absolutely possible but they are private schools. Your study visa will only be valid for a year in that case except you start another course.
I don’t know much about vocational schools.

Yes, Brazil is very open to applicants with dependents. Once you get your temporary RNM, you can invite your family to join you.

You should be on the look out already. Find your program and school and know when they tend to start their application. Also target GCUB, keep checking their website for updates. I know someone who thought they were going to start accepting application in September but they ended up doing it earlier and he missed it.

Some start early in the year, some start later in the year

Yes, application is usually open for a few weeks.

Law... Bachelor degree in Law

Please I am finding it difficult to see the course in any of the school portals.

And I also read here that one need to write a celpebra test (How do I go about this?) which I'm preparing for using Duolingo..

And also that I need to contact a professor in my faculty on time.

So you see how much I need your help.

Okay. Law is called Direto, USP has two Law programs and the admission is usually open early in the year.
Celpebra is not a general requirement, you’ll only need to write it if your school requires it.

I think the best option for you is to apply through GCUB.
You can apply to up to 5 schools through them and i don’t think you’d need to write Celpebras (please confirm)
If you get an admission through them, your scholarship would be guaranteed too.

That notwithstanding, you can check the requirements of each school you want to apply to.

To see the usual application requirements for a program, always look out for their Processo Seletivo (Selection Process) You can see the previous selection processes and have an idea of what the next one is going to look like.

Please when is the GCUB for 2024 opening?

Thank you so much once again.

Please when will next year admission portal open?

Please can you assist us with the list of schools that lectures in English.

Please the list of tuition free universities.

How many hours can someone on study visa work in a week?

Whats there minimum wage per hour?

untamedd:
Hello Everyone!

I know there is a thread already about Giving birth in Brazil. On that thread, I have seen many people make inquiries about study without a lot of response. I decided to open a thread dedicated to studying in Brazil.

Brazil welcomes International students to study in their country and all public Universities are tuition free even for foreigners. Brazil is also trying to encourage International students to come and study here in Brazil, hence they have set up GCUB which is a body that provides funding (grants) to international students who intend to study in Brazil. The funding is a monthly stipend provided to support students while studying. Without it, you can still study for free.

Admission Process
Each faculty decides their own admission process so if you’re interested in a particular course, you’ll need to check the faculty website to see when they usually start their admission process as well as requirements. Some faculties require entrance exams, some don’t. If they do, you’ll make arrangements to write the exam in Nigeria.

Language
Brazil universities are one of the best in the world. Learning language is Portuguese but as an international student, you can request to do your work in English. Depending on your faculty requirements, you may need to write Portuguese proficiency exam or complete a Portuguese course within one year of admission.
Most of the Universities website have the option to view their website in English language at the top of the website. If not you can use your browser’s translation tool to translate the website.

After Gaining Admission
You’ll need to authenticate your documents at the Ministry of foreign affairs and Ministry of Education. You’ll also legalize with the Brazilian embassy in Lagos.
You’ll then apply for your study visa. If you have a study grant, you may not need to prove financially capability, otherwise you’ll need to.

If you know about this process, please feel free to contribute.
