I remember when a Syrian embassador said at a un meeting (when the war in Syria has just started) that the world should be thankful to the Assad government because it was fighting against international terrorists, most people in that un security council meeting laughed. And I also felt it were ridiculous. Then later on we found out about Isis and we realized Syria was indeed fighting against international terrorists and that USA was on the same side as those terrorists (John Kerry's speech comes to mind).
