Before the paper Bible, the scriptures were engraved on stones.

Can we also say reading from stones is better than reading with the Paper book?!!!

Newspapers were the standard decades back, but now, the same news is being read from phones and tablets via the internet.

Schooling is now being done offline and online, not just in physical classes as was the standard back then... Does it mean education globally is no longer of good quality?!!

The issue is not using devices to study scriptures... The real issue is that most penitents of today are no longer as religious as their parents and forefathers... Even if you take away their phones, they still won't study or read the Bible. Why?!! They are simply not interested.

In the coming age, if care is not taken, many will no longer be reading the Bible whether hard copy or soft copy.

I really prefer the paper bible especially if you are a Christian trying to build capacity in self control. Reading the bible from electronic gadgets has a lot of cons. You may be innocently reading the book of Isaiah and then Boom!....BB NAIJA advert or one useless gistlover news just pops up.

Your mates are reading books on nanotechnology, artifical intelligence, programmable matter and anti-matter, quantum gravity.... you're reading a book written by cavemen.

Being distracted or being intentional has nothing to do with paper or online Bible.



Reading the paper Bible does not mean your phone won't ring or you won't get notifications which would then take you away briefly from your Bible reading. It happens when I read paperback books too, and I receive a notification on my phone and go and check. Even if your phone does not distract you from your reading, there are many other things that would.





And intentionality also has nothing to do with the format in which you read your Bible. What matters itself is intentionality, not the Bible format.





You can be reading the paper Bible and still be distracted. You can't simply remove distractions by choosing to read paper Bibles alone. As long as you have your mobile phone around you, you will be distracted if you receive a notification or a call, especially if you are someone who does his business online.

I don't see any hipocrisy anywhere. Electronic gadgets have the complete bible just like the paper bible, thus almost making it The same thing . The only primary issue here is the distraction that comes from reading through electronic gadgets. Bulletin on the other hand does not in any ramifications equate to the bible. It's nothing other than a pamphlet containing few scriptural references and order of service guidelines. My issue with bulletins from day one is dat it seriously restricts the manifestation of the holy spirit in church services. Because of the bulletin, Everything is just done religiously and ceremoniously during service.....thus restricting the flow of the holy spirit to enable worshippers declare word of knowledge, prophecy, and other diverse gifts during service.

I understand op perfectly. I think he has valid points. Bible-only digital device would address some of the issues raised by op. It would have Bible including audio version in various languages and translations. It would be called Bible reader only device, no other functions apart from making notes for Bible study.

I have three to four Bible versions on my phone and I can search through them more easily than carrying and leafing through copies of paper Bibles.
