The source is the apparent meaning of the text of the Qur'an.

All the Qur'an exegesis about Uriah and Bathsheba were influenced by the Jews or Christians who became Muslims.

We call them isrealiyat narrations! That's like saying interpretation of the Qur'an with the Torah lens.
I've asked you: What exactly did Mohammed or Allah say about this?

The interpretation that you are talking about are accepted by you Muslims isn't it?

Al-Tabari was no Christian nor Jew!

It's outright folly to try to make me believe Prophet Dawud (alayhi salam) was granted wisdom and decisive judgement and as such couldn't commit a mistake in judgement by not hearing out the second person but could commit covetousness, murder and adultery in one fell swoop!

The verse you quoted is still against you. With that verse Prophet Dawud would never fall into covetousness, adultery and murder!

Alhamdulillah for the light of Islam!

The Koran can never be against me because I don't believe in the book. I'm just here to point out the contradiction in the so called clear book yet scholars can't agree on exegesis of the story in it.

You are the one the verse is obviously against. That's why u fighting your frustration and desperation so hard because the verse has successfully pinned u down and make your argument obsolete.

If we are to go by most tafseer narration, their argument is that the case brought by the 2 men was meant to prevent David from committing adultery and covetousness by making him reflect on his own actions.
David was said to have reflected and realised it was a wrong trying to snatch Bathsheba from Uriah.
That was the reason he repented and ask Allah for forgiveness.
To be fair, this makes sense.

But the bigger question is where did they get this story from.
How are we sure the above is the true events that happened and not the one in the bible.
Who revealed it to the scholars, where did they get it from?
Which hadith narrated it and how trustworthy is the hadith. Did Muhammed explain the verse in such manner when he was alive?

That's still the bigger question and not your feeble argument that can't even scale the first hurdle of sound logic when tested.

You do not rely on the Bible to explain the Quran.

The story of David and the litigants, as presented in Tafsir Al-Hakam, is actually a biblical narrative from the Books of Samuel in the Old Testament, an Israliyat that Tenq, you and others wrongly rely on. This mistake represents a critical error in the tafsir, as it attributes a story from the Bible to the Quran, leading to a misinterpretation and a misunderstanding of the actual message of the Quranic verse.

As a result, this error may cause confusion and misrepresentation of the Quranic text, especially for those who rely on tafsir to understand the nuances and teachings of the Quran. It is essential for scholars and theologians to conduct thorough research and ensure the accuracy of their interpretations, as errors in tafsir can have significant implications for the understanding of the Quran and the teachings it imparts.

Question is did David have 99 wives before?
If David was so perfect in judgement how come his son Sulaiman peace of Allah be on his prophets present a better argument when 2 women lay claim to a baby?

The error in the Tafsir Al-Hakam of Quran 38:21 concerning the story of David and the litigants is a critical example of the potential pitfalls in scholarly interpretations of the Quran.

Why don't you then give a robust exegesis on Qur'an 38:20-27

If Mohammed did not explain it and neigher did Allah explain it, should you not refer to the people of the Book as Commanded by Allah?

Where was adultery and covetousness as regards David mentioned in the verse? You're simply telling lies and interpreting the verse with isrealiyat narrations which were influenced mainly by Jewish and Christian reverts!

David was said to have reflected and realised it was a wrong trying to snatch Bathsheba from Uriah.

The Qur'an verse is as simple as it is.

When Dawood realized that he had been too quick to judge, without listening to what the second disputant had to say, he hastened to repent: and he sought Forgiveness of his Lord, and he fell down prostrate and turned (to Allaah) in repentance. [Saad 38:24 interpretation of the meaning].

1. Is David stupid contrary to Qur'an 38:20

38:20 And We strengthened his (David's) dominion, and bestowed upon him wisdom and sagacity in judgment

Did David made a BAD Judgement?

2. Contrary to you, both of them spoke to David.

38:22 As they came upon David, and he shrank back in fear from them, they said: “Fear not! [We are but] two litigants. One of us has wronged the other: so judge thou between us with justice, and deviate not from what is right, and show [both of] us the way to rectitude

So, Did David do wrong by condemning the rich man?

If he did wrong, Why should the Poor man be condemned?

So Al Tabari is a Jew or Christian convert? The joke is on u.

If David is the ancestor of my God, How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him ‘Lord’?
Pls read Matthew 22.41-45 for understanding.

Same Dawood that your Allah blessed with wisdom, sound logic and decisive judgement is the one begging Allah because he erred in judgement.

Qur'an 38:20-27
38:20 And We strengthened his (David's) dominion, and bestowed upon him wisdom and sagacity in judgment
38:21 AND YET, has the story of the litigants come within thy ken - [the story of the two] who surmounted the walls of the sanctuary [in which David prayed]
38:22 As they came upon David, and he shrank back in fear from them, they said: “Fear not! [We are but] two litigants. One of us has wronged the other: so judge thou between us with justice, and deviate not from what is right, and show [both of] us the way to rectitude
38:23 “Behold, this is my brother: he has ninety-nine ewes, whereas I have [only] one ewe - and yet he said, ‘Make her over to me,’ and forcibly prevailed against me in this [our] dispute.”
38:24 Said [David]: “He has certainly wronged thee by demanding that thy ewe be added to his ewes! Thus, behold, do many kinsmen wrong one another [all] save those who believe [in God] and do righteous deeds: but how few are they!” And [suddenly] David understood that We had tried him: and so he asked his Sustainer to forgive him his sin, and fell down in prostration, and turned unto Him in repentance
38:25 And thereupon We forgave him that [sin]: and, verily, nearness to Us awaits him [in the life to come], and the most beauteous of all goals
38:26 [And We said:] “O David! Behold, We have made thee a [prophet and, thus, Our] vicegerent on earth: judge, then, between men with justice, and do not follow vain desire, lest it lead thee astray from the path of God: verily, for those who go astray from the path of God there is suffering severe in store for having forgotten the Day of Reckoning!”

3. If the rich man is correct, why would he be?

You are still on this mission of comparing your holey forgery Bible with the Qur'an?

You are channelling your energy in the wrong direction.
Let me give you a hint of where you should be channelling your intellect.

It's a known fact that the writer of gospel according to Matthew used Mark gospel extensively in writing his. why would he change a passage from his source that has to do with Jesus divinity?

Mark 10:18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.

Matthew 19:17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

Things like these are what you should be worried about.

Mr Man u are chasing shadows. If the church fathers were obsessed with Jesus divinity as u claim, they would simple remove the gospel of Mark or delete the verse. They didn't because they understood the exegesis perfectly.
We Christians know that Jesus is both Son of Man and Son of God in nature.

That cannot be said about the exegesis of the Koran verses which seem to have multiple and contradictory explanation like the one we discussing here.

Now help your friends answer the question since it seems they are stuck.

The koranic passage we discussing has been confirmed to be about David, bathsheba and Uriah. Pls check the tafseer of the verse.

However, there's a little problem. The narration given in islamic tafseer is different from the one in the bible.

So this begs the question. Where did the islamic scholars get their own story from.
Neither Allah nor Muhammed explained the verse. And we know there was no further revelation after the death of Muhammed according to Muslims.
So where did they get their own story from.

My friend give your own interpretation of the passage and let's test it instead of blaming the tafsir.
The tafsir are your own literature not Christians', so if u are embarrassed by what's written in it, it's your own cup of tea.
The Koran was meant to be a clear book, so why the contradictory explanation amongst your top scholars.
I can bring up hundreds of verses in your Koran and it will be the same outcome of embarrassing contradiction.
That's why we Christians say the Koran cannot be from God. It's not mockery or denial of the Koran. We just stating the fact.

The Qur'an and the Bible presented the same event as we shall see in Quran 38:20-26 and in the Bible, 2Sam 11:1-27 and 2Sam 12:1-25

Except there is a self contradiction in the Qur'an, Allah says that the Qur'an was given in great Details

Qur'an 6:144
[Say (O Muhammad SAW)] "Shall I seek a judge other than Allah while it is He Who has sent down unto you the Book (The Quran), explained in detail." Those unto whom We gave the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] know that it is revealed from your Lord in truth. So be not you of those who doubt

If the above is true, then we expect the Qur'an to be exceptionally clear and simple to understand.

Qur'an Summary : Qur'an 38:20-26
1. Allah strengthened the kingdom of Prophet David (Dawood), endowing him with wisdom and eloquent speech.
2. The incident begins when two adversaries approach Prophet David by climbing over the wall of his prayer chamber.
3. The two individuals explain their situation to David, stating that they are in a dispute, and they seek his judgment. They describe themselves as two adversaries, with one claiming to have been wronged by the other.
4.The complainant presents his case, stating that he has ninety-nine ewes, while the other party has only one. He alleges that the other person unjustly demanded his single ewe, overpowering him in speech.
5. Prophet David, after listening to their case, realizes that the person with ninety-nine ewes has wronged the one with only one ewe. David acknowledges that many associates (people) often oppress one another, except for those who believe and do righteous deeds.
6. David becomes certain that this situation is a trial from Allah. In response, he seeks forgiveness from his Lord, falls down in prostration, and turns in repentance.

As this story doesn't make sense, we need to ask a few questions for clarification and clarity.

Questions:
Allah presents the story as actual occurences of two adversaries one rich and the other poor with the rich person taking the only lamb of the poor man.
1. If David miraculously and with wisdom judged that the rich person wronged the poor person by taking his only sheep:
Since David was not at fault here, Why did David seek for forgiveness from Allah?
2. What sin did David commit?
3. Compared with the Bible, would you say that the narrator of the Qur'an did a good job of narrating the events surrounding the story?
How is this situation a trial from Allah?
5. Do you think that it is remotely possible that God will have a comprehension problem of historical events?

In the next page is the summary of the Bible Narrative and the Qur'an text

Qur'an is not a story book, it is a book of guidance to humankind. You can't read it like you read your holey forgery Bible

What Allah want us to take away from those verses is that we should be quick to turn in repentance whenever we found out we have erred.
As soon as David made judgement between the two he realized the whole case it's a trial from God and God is trying to pass him a message regarding what he has done previously. He turn in repentance and he was forgiven.

Now let me ask you a question, why did the Bible refer to Egypt ruler during the time of Joseph as pharaoh?
Qur'an that you are claiming copied from the Bible and have error of comprehension of Bible passages does not make such mistake.
Historically, it is now a known fact that Egypt rulers in the days of Joseph are not known as pharaoh.

Modern muslims are on a sole mission- to discredit the bible. If doing so brings the Koran to the mud, they dont care. The target is the bible.
Muslims know Koran has no reputation in the first place, so its a matter of what is already down needs no fear of falling. It's the bible that up there that should be brought down.

U need to see them arguing genocide in the bible, u will wonder if Koran is a saint when it comes to genocide.

Thanks for bringing stuff like this up. Muslims like to claim prophets are saints who did no wrong. Passages like this one will continue to burst their lies.

I perfectly agree with you.

After studying Islam, you will get the conclusion that neither Allah nor Mohammed dictates doctrine in Islam but their scholars decisions .

They would gladly throw both Allah and Mohammed under the bus if their claims do not sound as they want it to sound.

Allah says to Muslims "Do Mutah!"
Mohammed Allowed it and Forbade it and Allowed it and Forbade it..
Sunni Muslims Forbid Mutah
Shia Muslims Allow Mutah

Every thing depend on what their scholars agree is right.

This is the same with the manner in which they practice Jihad: it is according to what their scholars agree and this also depend on their school

Prophets do not commit such sinful acts. We believe that these stories from the Old Testament regarding the prophets are partially embedded with fabrications and warped narrations to create a spicy/false stories.

A prophet of God would never commit adultery and be enslaved to his temptations to the point that he causes a woman’s husband to die in the battlefield so he could marry this woman who he lusts after. In Islam David is a pious, righteous king and prophet for his peoples just like how messengers and prophets of God are supposed to set examples for the people whom they were sent to.

There are other such stories in the Bible such as Lot and his daughters, Elisha and the kids mauled by bears, etc that is totally out of character.

Is (QS. Saad 38: Verse 23)
"Indeed this, my brother, has ninety-nine ewes, and I have one ewe; so he said, 'Entrust her to me,' and he overpowered me in speech" the statement of one litigant or both of them?
What did the other litigant who wanted judgement say? Did he say anything?

Is this not the mistake David a.s committed in not hearing both sides of a dispute?
How is there fairness without reviewing the interests or it suits your goal to destroy the character of one God deemed close to him in making him a callous dictator?

David, without hearing from the other party, said: "He did you wrong by taking the sheep back, and many partners oppress one another, except for those who are believers.

Biblical David’s alleged adulterous affair with Bathsheba states that after being threatened for his abhorrent actions (committing adultery with Bathsheba and having Uriah killed), David repented and was spared death. However, this directly contradicts the Mosaic Law which required the death penalty for adultery.

Perhaps even more egregious is the fact that, according to the story, David and Bathsheba were allowed to stay together! In fact, he even impregnated Bathsheba again, leading to the birth of Solomon!

Hence, both David and Bathsheba should have been stoned to death. The Bible does not even mention whether Bathsheba was also allowed to repent or not. Only David is mentioned. However, they were still punished, though not according to the Law. According to the story, God struck the child that was born from the adulterous relationship with a lethal illness, which claimed his life after seven days. This punishment contradicts a basic principle of justice laid out in Deuteronomy 24:16:

“Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin.”

The same principle is laid out in the Book of Ezekiel 18:20

“The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.”

Clearly, David and Bathsheba both deserved death for their sins, not their son. From the perspective of the Mosaic Law, the entire incident was a miscarriage of justice.

Remember the biblical Jesus is yet to liberate jews from these laws and is yet to be born.

Qasim6:

Qur'an is not a story book, it is a book of guidance to humankind. You can't read it like you read your holey forgery Bible
The Quran is a comedy of errors of disjointed stories of the ancients
How did the story of the Dhu al-Qarnayn enter the Quran (Quran 18:83–101)?
How did the legend of the Seven Sleepers enter the Quran(Quran 18:10–16)?
How did the children bedtime story of Solomons flying carpet and stick and magic ring enter the quran?
Women having reproductive fluid is a guidance?

The list is endless my dear!

Qasim6:

What Allah want us to take away from those verses is that we should be quick to turn in repentance whenever we found out we have erred.
As soon as David made judgement between the two he realized the whole case it's a trial from God and God is trying to pass him a message regarding what he has done previously. He turn in repentance and he was forgiven.
How is the verses a guide to turn in repentance?
What was the error of David in Judging the case (You haven't told me how the poor man was the guilty one of the two)?

Qasim6:

Now let me ask you a question, why did the Bible refer to Egypt ruler during the time of Joseph as pharaoh?
The term Pharaoh is adopted as an epithet of respect for of the Kings of Egypt and not the name of a particular king.
The term "Pharaoh" originally referred to the palace or the royal residence in ancient Egypt, but over time it became used as a title for the ruler of Egypt.

No one knows for sure the exact name of the king of Egypt at that time, however the following kings are postulated to be the Pharaoh Sesostris II (1894-1878 BCE) or Pharaoh Yakbim Sekhaenre (1805-1780 BC)
Moses wrote the Torah and thus used the terms familiar to the readers the terms Pharaoh in describing ALL kings of Egypt.

What do you have to say to this
Quran 12:20
And they sold him for a reduced price - a few dirhams - and they were, concerning him, of those content with little.

You may wish to show how Dirhams were spent in Egypt as money during the time of Joseph
Note: This is Allah himself speaking and not Mohammed.

Qasim6:

Qur'an that you are claiming copied from the Bible and have error of comprehension of Bible passages does not make such mistake.
Historically, it is now a known fact that Egypt rulers in the days of Joseph are not known as pharaoh.
I have explained this as a generic term of respect and address of the kings of Egypt was adopted by Moses who lived in the Palace of his Pharaoh.

But the Quran makes SEVERAL obvious historical errors
1. Show any historical evidence that Ezra is the son of God according to the Jews?
2. Did Jesus Die on the Cross according to history?
3. Where on the earth is the Massive wall of iron in Quran 18:96-97
4. Where is the barrier holding the Gog and Magog in archaeology in Quran 21:96
5. Show that crucifixions happened at the time of Moses (approximately 1500 BCE) as well as Joseph (approximately 2000 BCE) Quran 21:71 and Quran 12:41
6. Show how the Samaritans existed at the time of Moses Quran 20:85 and Quran 20:95
7. How come Allah was supposed to preserve the body of ONE pharaoh but we find several mummified Pharaohs preserved in their tombs Quran 10:92
8. As of the time of Moses, not one single children of Israel was king Quran 5:20
9. John (Yahaya) was a common name in the time of Jesus. Even some of Jesus disciples were named John contrary to Quran 19:7
10. Show a single non islamic source that says Abraham and Ismael built the Kaaba Quran 2:125-127

I challenge you to prove me wrong on any one above of your choice.

You will agree with me that this level of errors is not befitting the Creator of the Universe.

Another ignorant statement form someone trying to put the God of the bible in a box.

This is what happens when u don't have the 10 commandments.
Exodus 20
4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Historically, it is now a known fact that Egypt rulers in the days of Joseph are not known as pharaoh.

Moses wrote the Torah including the book of Genesis at a time the kings of Egypt were called pharaoh. He called them both kings and Pharaoh simultaneously in the book of Genesis.

Ok since we are debating historical errors. Let's test the Koran.
The Qur'an which was dictated by all knowing Allah claimed he taught David how to make a coat of mail this crediting David with the invention.

And assuredly We gave David grace from Us, (saying): O ye hills and birds, echo his psalms of praise! And We made the iron supple unto him, Saying: Make thou long coats of mail and measure the links (thereof). And do ye right. Lo! I am Seer of what ye do.
Quran 34:10-11

The problem is coat of mail actually was invented in the 5th century BC while David lived 500 yes before that.

Even more problematic is the crucifixion as a punishment in ancient Egypt during the time of Joseph as written in the Koran.
Crucifixion as a method of execution was developed in 500 BC. There's no evidence of crucifixion in ancient Egypt during the 2000 BC as claimed by your Koran.

Your Allah surely doesn't know his own history he supposedly created.
