I also experienced something similar , but not exactly the same.

I have a very close friend ( one of the very few I hold dearly ) . We were planning his wedding and in less than 2 months to the wedding day his mum died after slumping . The death took everyone by surprise and really shook him.

At a point we were contemplating shifting the wedding but eventually the family decided he should go ahead with it. In the wake to the wedding I had to dig deep into my savings to come through for him when he kept lamenting about a whole lot of things he’s yet to put in place due to the sudden death of his mum and how much he spent during the burial (which I also supported him financially for ). He even made me spend extra money by buying a new piece of suit to be his best man which I never planned before .

On the wedding eve I had to take it upon myself to foot bills for the hotel we will sleep overnight when I noticed he didn’t have any plan nor funds for it and was resigned to us sleeping in his parent’s house where a gazillion family members were sleeping over in preparation for the wedding . Within the first year of the wedding he was always complaining about his business not doing well and when I do have I raise him one or two change to sort minor issues .

Fast forward to the delivery of his first child , after announce the arrival of the baby he told me how much he’s trying to raise to have his wife and child discharged from the private hospital . I gave him what I can knowing fully well he will still come up with some request in 8 days time which will be naming ceremony . True to character he requested for financial asssitance few days to the naming and I was suggesting that he should just do a low key one since the funds are not really there now.

On the morning of the naming I sent him what I can and later he confided in me that my cash was timely cos that was what he used to buy a bag of rice that morning immediately alert entered . I didn’t go for the naming cos it was a work day but my spouse who did , what she described was definitely not a budget naming ceremony and the pictures my guy uploaded later confirmed same .

Less than a month after naming my guy’s house rent was due and he needs to borrow money to add to his rent . He told me he had the house rent complete before the naming but he had to spend out of it for the naming since Yoruba have a saying that “ ti Igi ba wo lugi, toke e ni won man koko gbe “ i.e if a tree falls on another fallen tree, u will definitely have to lift the one on top to be able to reach the one underneath . So he had to first sort the naming before the rent payment .

I just shook my head at his scale of priorities and cautioned myself to never be foooolish by going all out for people who don’t know how to prioritize their needs . I took several steps backwards on his matter because I just don’t see myself continuing to sponsor his bad choice of order of priorities .

Why do we all have people like this? People who make very bad choices, you advice them they don't listen and when the problem comes, they run to you for help. As if you're the foolish one who has nothing to do with money.

Someone was sacked because his company lost contract. The company offered to send him to another location and he asked me about it. I told him to take it pending when he can get something better. Next time we spoke, he said the place was too far from his house so he decided not to take it. I wished him all the best. Few weeks later, he sent me a text message that he's dying of hunger and he didnt eat the day before and has no hope of eating that day. I just ignored it.

I have since realised that you can't help everyone. Do the little you can and face your front. We all have problems we need money to solve.

His son had been born with a very serious health condition in 2016, same time as my daughter, which needed a very serious sum of money for surgery, I covered everything and ensured that the boy was nursed back to health including all follow up appointments. Although bro was always showing levels on social media, I took his need at face value rather than ask him to sell his car he keeps showing off for example (something I would have done for my child in the same situation)

A year later he shocked me when he asked for N500k for house rent in 2018, despite driving SUV, always wearing designer clothes on Instagram and all that. I think his house rent was N700k and he had N200k on him. That was our last conversation. For my mind I'm like you've had 12 months to prepare for this, furthermore you can downsize your house to the one your pocket can carry, secondly I don't wear designer clothes, but you are flossing everywhere and expecting me to pay your house rent, I no just answer the guy from that day to this day. That house rent stuff dey always vex me cos that is a core responsibility for any man, unless a major incident occurs, no man should be caught unawares by house rent.

Entitlement is a disease that is contagious and growing fast in Nigeria
Currently there is no cure for it as no matter how you handle it you will be called a bad person

A large number of Nigerians have a very strange attitude to money that can be baffling at times. Especially when you are conservative and focused on sustainable spending.

Apparently she is moving because there is about to be a change in a law that will mean statute of limitations (time frame for prosecution of a crime) has passed. So she has two weeks or forever hold her peace. Apparently she was dating kid kudi at a time and puffy had the guys car blown up. Kudi has apparently cooborated this.

Some other stuff like forcing her to shave her head, domestic violence.

Diddy is one of the most notorious bullies that ever got into the rap game. He came into gangsterism at the executive level.
