If he does that, how would he steal money like all his predecessors?
NNPC and the refineries are the major conduits for siphoning Nigeria's money.

And NO, he is not foolish and his cabinets are not stupid.
They are just sociopaths, like Buhari and others before him.

That is why they rigged Peter Obi out.
For someone like Obi to win presidential election in Nigeria, a coup or a revolution must happen first.
Painful truth.

You are on point bro. Whoever says the government is foolish doesn't understand jack. These niggas seriously calculate their actions and execute them. The idea is to keep embezzling money and keep the masses poor so they can keep begging them.

Your problem is you are a m0ron who has simply inferred from my comments. My comments were statements of fact. They made no attempt to lay blame or to absolve anyone. You with your bias decided I was defending or absolving one party or another. I did not.

I made a statement, you are poor and have been living above your means. I did not say it is this persons fault or this othe r person is not to blame, I simply made a stem entry of fact. We had been borrowing to defend the Naira.

This is why it is difficult to have any semblance of an intellectual debate with Nigerians especially on Nairaland. The c
Vast majority are not only intellectually deficient, uninformed and ignorant but to add to their burden they are clouded by bias.

If you check my posts you will see where I have credited Buhari with undertaking lasting infrastructure projects never been done since the return to democracy in 1999. No matter the source of the funds, the roads, rail etc will be there for decades. However, I have also criticized his administration for financial recklessness in borrowing and for his failure to get the refineries working in 8 years and for his failure to remove subsidy.

The current administration has just started, the reforms IMHO are necessary painful as hey are, collectively we have all been living a lie, living above our means. The adjustment will be painful but necessary. Poor people have no business driving V8 jeeps with fuel subsidized by the government. A country that imports everything and exports nothing will eventually pay the price. A country that wants to eat imported rice should not be subsidized to so especially at the expense of local farmers.

At the same time the citizens must play their part. Nothing is free. There is a price for everything. You want good tertiary education for a population of 200m you have to pay for it one way or another either increased taxes or increased fees. But if you protest increase in fees, you end up like the man who burnt his certificates…..you end up with certificates that are worthless. So if you want cheap petrol, no problem but you will end up with the country we have today. Government also has a duty to send a signal to the rest of the country. For me, I wish the government would pass a law that makes it illegal for any government agency to buy any foreign vehicle if the equivalent vehicle is assembled in Nigeria. I also wish they would ban the use of official vehicles above a certain engine capacity or below a minimum fuel consumption.

The bottom line anyway is we are where we are because of the collective recklessness of the country both the government and the citizens. If as citizens you are not ready to buckle your belt and still want to live the false life of the past, trust me what is happening in Venezuela will be child’s play.

Why are you so so stu pid?

The other person was focusing on the way forward but you're foo lishly complaining about the past.

You know the funny thing about wisdom and knowledge, those who have it don't brag or show it off by making mouth, it is the empty ones that brag about it.

You said the country have been living above it means blah blah blah, and the other person was focused on this present administration and their way of reviving it.

From the look of things(the comments both of you dropped here), you are the du mb one here.

Gerraout with your idi otic way of defending your paymaster.
You du mb o, chai.

See the way you're mentioning tax tax as if na paper and sand those that will be taxed will use in paying their taxes when they keep rolling out unfriendly policies in the already harsh environment.

I'm not against paying of tax but let it be transparent and let the government do the proper thing on tax and its return.
No be to dey collect tax alone dem suppose do.

I'm done with you on this abeg.

This advice doesn't make sense because it assumes we have infinite crude oil to send to refineries. We don't even have enough for Dangote refinery and existing modular refineries.
Naigeria has not even scratched the surface of the oil in Naigeria, billions of gallons of crude oil flows under South East Naigeria. The crude oil in Naigeria will never run out in the next 50 years to come.

You are the ignorant one here.

The sponsoring thought to the creation of this evil APC structure is to take power from PDP and keep it at all cost. No intention to make Nigeria better anywhere.

I agree with your point on the part the citizens must play but nonetheless it will not change our reality, the evil APC structure of hardship and suffering has no plans to make the country better.

APC is the worst calamity to befall this Country.Facts!!

This was my submission on the 10 of November concerning this dollar issue.

God bless the man that postulated about the laws of demand and supply. Until the government takes care of supply and all the challenges of supply we are no where. No matter the cosmetic solutions, borrowing to defend the naira, enacting all manners of monetary or fiscal policies, etc the law of demand and supply will humble you. We are in this because FGN/CBN cannot supply required dollars; Why?because we don't have reserve; Why? We are not earning dollars(trade deficit/not meeting OPEC quota/oil thefts by key actors in government and her agencies/...

We need to have a short and long term approach to solving the supply issues. In short term, the only major of dollar earning is crude oil. Now that a price of Brent crude per barrel is $81.12, and it will still go up as Isreal vs Hamas tango exacerbate in the middle East. Nigeria Opec quota of 1.8 million barrels per day which was slashed due to our inability to meet our capacity is 1.38 million barrels per day can be maintained while fighting thefts and vandalism of pipeline. If we can do this as a country and at the same time avoid spending on frivolities like spending scares dollars on yatch, Assembly cars, etc except on key sectors like security, health, education, agriculture, power, manufacturing ..then we are heading to stronger naira.
On the long term, we have to up our exports on non oil sectors like solid minerals instead of giving room to all these Chinese and other dubious foreigners who instigate all manners of insecurities to their advantage. Reduce cost of doing business and subsidies power to the business environment so that our goods can compete fairly in the international market.
In between the two aforementioned terms, we must handle food inflation. Improve security so that farmers can go back to farm instead of being in IDP camp, allow food importation until the local produce is enough to handle demand

Re: Dollar Hits 1,105 At Official Market by Bkelly2: 3:23pm On Nov 17, 2023
Nigeria is a cosmetic nation. Different leaders comes on board and paints the face of Nigeria with different kinds of cosmetics. The naira fall is part of the rain that is falling on Nigeria and cleaning off the cosmetics thereby showing the real Nigeria. You cannot keep borrowing money to sustain the Dollar. You must have a barrage of avenues where Dollars will be rolling in large quantities into the Nigerian economy. When supply is more than demand...The high demand of dollar will drop. But the opposite is the case. The refineries are useless if not sold out to professionals to handle. Or allow modular refineries to operate. This will increase the inflow of Dollars...But out of greed and tribalism, the government won't allow this to happen. See where we are today. My advice, go find a way to earn in dollars. Help yourself, do not depend on this govt. If you earn in dollars, even if inflation is very high, you no go too feel am.. it is well with us all
