NAF COMMITS TO STRENGTHENING SAFETY PROCEDURES FOR EFFECTIVE AIR OPERATIONS

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is committed to enhancing its Safety Management Systems across all its units with special focus on operational and engineering units. Chief of The Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar disclosed this while declaring open the year 2023 NAF Safety Review Board (SRB) meeting earlier today, 16 November 2023, at NAF Headquarters Abuja. Air Marshal Abubakar went on to note that safety management in the NAF is a major priority and core function in view of the technical and complex nature of assigned tasks and roles of the Service. According to him, “The NAF is fully committed to developing, implementing and reviewing policies to ensure that NAF operations and other activities are conducted in a safe environment.” He also stated that his resolve to, ‘Transform the NAF into an agile and resilient force that effectively meets the airpower demands of national security in all operational environment’ can best be achieved with safety as the bedrock.

Speaking further, the CAS reiterated his commitment to ensuring continuous improvement in safety standards through deliberate programmes aimed at enhancing flight safety as well as occupational and domestic safety in the NAF. He equally used the opportunity to appreciate the commitment of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration towards equipping the NAF with modern platforms in furtherance of efforts against terrorism, insurgency and other forms of criminality in various parts of the country. He then went on to state that some of the platforms acquired by the Federal Government have arrived the country and will soon boost the NAF’s combat capabilities as well as help in increasing its operational tempo hence the need for safety vigilance. According to him, “We are aware that increase in operational tempo will lead to increase in hazards associated with our operations in line with ICAO’s postulation that hazards are the by-products of production or operational activities.” He then called for a proactive management of safety in all units and commands and specifically directed operational units where newly acquire NAF aircraft would be domiciled to commence the process of aggressively identifying hazards associated with the arrival and operations of the new platforms and finding ways to manage the risks involved. The CAS, who is also the Chairman of the NAF Safety Review Board further emphasized the need for field Commanders to ensure that the safety trainings translate to the development of positive safety culture, improvement in safety practices as well as creation of awareness that safety is the responsibility of all personnel. “I expect us to redouble our commitment in this regard to ensure that as an organisation and as individuals, every NAF Unit and personnel have the responsibility to ensure that safety practices and standards are maintained in all activities,” he noted.

Earlier, the NAF Chief of Standards and Evaluation, Air Vice Marshal Micheal Onyebashi noted that the SRB is designed to discuss and review issued related to safety policies and regulations as well as allocate resources for enhanced safety standards in the NAF. He also revealed that the Board is expected to provide appropriate directives and guidelines that would ensure the entrenchment of a positive safety culture in the NAF. With the receipt of new platforms into the inventory of the NAF, Air Vice Marshal Onyebashi emphasized the need for enhanced safety standards in all operational units.

Highlights of the meeting were a paper presentation on Safety Management System and Human Factors by Air Vice Marshal Gabriel Odesola (Rtd), review of NAF Safety Outlook and briefs by various Air Officers Commanding, amongst others.

First and foremost,
What HAMAS did on October 7th, is a terrorist attack!

Now that that's out of the way
What Israel is doing in Gaza, is terrorism!

Israel has killed in less than a month, more children than Russia has killed since February 2022

Israel and Palestine issue is bigger than us in Nigeria. We have our own problems.

Support your Israel, or support your Palestine in Peace, and boldly

No need for propagating falsehoods.

For the South Easterners supporting Israel, please remember these times, when IPOB/UGM (or whoever you believe they are) kills soldiers, and then soldiers enter your villages, and kill babies, mothers and other innocent civilians in retaliation, in the guise of looking for IPOB

Because that's what Israel is doing right now.

Now we have shifted the goal post.

From "there has never been anything like a Palestine state"
so I showed that there was a Palestine state, with a functioning government, and a ministy of migration that issued permits to jews

We have now shifted to
who was the president of Palestine?

My brother I didn't post to argue o, I only wanted to correct an impression, or rather show that there's an alternative. As I said, Israel and Palestine issue, is bigger than Nigeria's problems.

NAF BOLSTERS COUNTER-INSURGENCY EFFORTS WITH WINGING OF 12 COMBAT PILOTS

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar has charged 12 newly winged pilots of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to justify the efforts and resources invested in their training by contributing their best towards sustaining the successes recorded in the various theatres of operation within the country. According to Air Marshal Abubakar, the Service has continued to conduct independent and joint operations aimed at not only decimating the criminals and denying them freedom of action but also shaping the operational environment in the various theatres. This, he said, can only be sustained with the injection of new and vibrant pilots to add energy and bite to the operations. The CAS stated this today, 23 November 2023, at the winging ceremony of Basic Flying Course-20 at the 403 Flying Training School (FTS), Kano.

Speaking further, Air Marshal Abubakar noted that the winging ceremony was significant, coming at a time when the NAF has immensely benefitted from the Federal Government’s determination to provide necessary platforms and equipment in the fight against terrorism, insurgency and other forms of criminality. According to him, the acquisition of new platforms comes with the attendant consequences on manpower, training, and operating costs. This challenge, he said, is further exacerbated by the anticipated arrival of an array of new platforms such as the M-346, AH-1Z, A-109 Trekker, and the remaining T-129 ATAK helicopters. He therefore added that for the NAF to bridge the manpower gaps currently experienced, a 3-year training plan to commence from January 2024 must be sustained amid the availability of funding. It was in view of this projection, according to the CAS, that the graduation of the Basic Flying Course 20 was gladdening, as it serves to bridge the pilot deficiency gap.

Air Marshal Abubakar further reminded the newly winged pilots of the current security environment of the Country which has remained fluid and unpredictable due to threats posed by terrorists in the North as well as an upsurge in banditry and kidnapping activities across the entire country. He noted that there still exist some threats to Nigeria's unity and cohesion as posed by secessionist groups in the Southeast, just as the theft of crude oil in the South-south has continued to threaten the economic wellbeing of the Country. He therefore reminded the pilots that the journey was far from over, hence the need to continually strive to elevate the NAF to greater heights.

Earlier, the Air Officer Commanding Air Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Nnamdi Ananaba, stated that the graduation ceremony represented the final phase of a series of training activities aimed at producing fully qualified pilots for the NAF. According to him, "Beyond merely producing qualified pilots for the NAF, the objective of the flying course is to produce pilots that are significantly knowledgeable to operate the new and highly technical platforms being inducted into the NAF." He went on to add that since the establishment of 403 FTS Kano in 1967, the School has trained over 207 pilots for the Nigeria Air Force and other sister Air Forces. Speaking further, Air Vice Marshal Ananaba noted that the addition of 12 fast jet pilots is a significant boost to NAF preparedness to receive and operate the significant number of platforms expected to be inducted into service.

The ceremony was witnessed by the representative of the Governor of Kano State, Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Umar (Rtd), who is also the Director-General Special Duties, Branch Chiefs as well as several retired and serving officers.

Wow, what an analysis by a former American troop.
But, but I thought IDF are the one of the most technically advanced militaries , how difficult is it to fish out Hamas from their tunnels…?? The only fighting force I’ve seen perpetrating civilian casualties since October 7 is the IDF. Bombing hospitals, refugee camps, UN schools and warehouses for aid, members of the press and Palestinians evacuating to the south.
Just recently reports came out of Israel that most of the dead victims of the music festival on October 7 was the responsibility of IDF Apache attack helicopters. We didn’t see American government slamming sanctions or putting restrictions on the IDF, but when Nigeria wants to buy AH-1z helicopters, BOOM!!! The hypocrites wants to put restrictions on when, where and how it is used due to concerns of collateral damage.

If truly their objectives were to go after Hamas, aren’t they supposed to restrict the fighting to the North of Gaza and avoid collateral damage as best as they can…??
Even when the Nigerian military was fighting Boko Haram at its peak, that did not warrant them to carpet bombing all of Maidugiri or Borno state. The fight was restricted to the sambisa forest, and the military had to move in to fish them out.
Ever since IDF stormed Al-Shifa hospital, we are still waiting for evidence of the Hamas command centre under the hospital. The best propaganda they could give us is referring to an Arabic calendar as a list of terrorists on day and night shift, lol. Not to mention evidence for the 40 beheaded babies, or the human shields or rape victims

Camo is not "deserved". Their area of responsibility no follow dis camo. It will also add zero operational advantage.

Worst part is that it's logistics will burden their budgets because I know this is imported.

If they're looking to be respected (aka feared) let them put in the work. No be by photos

Would you the NPF deserve to earn the camouflage they're using today ?
Or the NPF has a fear factor because they have a camouflage scheme?
The NSCDC deserves the camouflage in all respect and I don't think they're choose a camouflage scheme because they want to be feared or respect.
They combat crime to some extent, so how do there area of responsibility do not allow them to use a camouflage?
