I saw Peseiro play Iwobi in Jorginho styled midfield anchor man. Every man and his dog knows Nwakali is the best guy to play this role. Something he's done all his career. No way on God's green earth is Iwobi better than him in that role.
For me, that's the only criticism I have for the coach. However, regardless personnel, we should beat Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
The players are to blame 98%. They have no justification for not putting chances away. Any Nigerian 11 assembled even if Dr Rafiu Oladipo was the coach should beat these teams.

Watch the haters avoid logical point like plague.

Danielnino00:

Good afternoon everyone. I appreciate you all for your time and patience so far, and apologies for not being able to meet up with the deadlines listed in the calendar.
So, based on responses received so far, here are the members of the nomination committee for the 2023 Nairaland Nigeria Football Fans Award:
1. Danielnino00
2. Icon4s
3. Thesupernerd
4. Charlesemeka85
5. Joebie
6. Andsungorilla

Given that the super eagles have a game tomorrow and next week, I think it's only right to wait until afterwards before we begin. The super falcons also have a game coming up toward the end of this month and early December, but the super falcons only have one category for the award, so we cant wait till then. However, if members of the committee wish to make modification to the categories, we can find a way around it.

In lieu of this, here is the new calendar:
November 22- November 27 2023- Selection of award categories by nomination committee
November 27- December 2nd 2023- Selection of players for each award category by nomination committee
December 4th - December 11th 2023- Official Voting of winners by all Nairalanders
December 15th 2023- Official announcement of winners

Thank you all

It appears that many aren't so happy with the state of our football these days given recent results, so it's time again to decide whether or not we go ahead with the award.

These people you listed right here are very busy peeps yet they agreed to make themselves available for this award. Why should you elevate the opinions of those who don't want to participate over these distinguished gentlemen? The Super Eagles qualified for AFCON top of their group. The Super Falcons had an amazing World Cup.
Canceling it should never be an option!

The Benin players were playing with fear and defensive mindedness, infact they reminded me of when rohr was our coach…play defensive and reservative game and catch opponent on counter…in the second half they came out and started knocking SA but it was too late to equalize 2goals

It's always the easy way out to blame the coach. Truth be told, these set of players will disappoint any coach the federation hires.
Nothing was wrong with Peseiro's lineup over the 2 legs. Most coaches will go for 98% of that same line up if the same set of players were available.
Let's be real, these set of players are the supposed best we have in those top leagues we love so much.
I blame Peseiro for not working on the GK dpt that's all.

Just look at this shocked

Let’s try to get barryseal point…firstly as an experienced foreign player plying ur trade in best foreign leagues week in week out shld beat a very lowly rated team even if their coach is not on the touch line ….we had no biz drawing against d likes of Lesotho 🇱🇸 and Zimbabwe 🇿🇼.these are one of the easiest games in the group

Secondly…80percent of the players in our team feels too relaxed that they knw Dey would be starting games once Dey re invited.it’s high time we involve hungry players who re ready to compete and give deir .it’s not necessary they must play in d first five best foreign leagues ,afterall those who executed the last two matches were majorly from d so called leagues dt couldn’t defeat carpenters

You want the NFF that always complain of lack of funds to drop players that some of the NFF members might be collecting money
from for the betterment of the super eagles you must be joking because the NFF only works for the betterment of their private pockets.

If they wanted to do something for the team then Uzoho will not be getting call up invitations.

Going forward, players like Olisa Nda, Ibrahim Olawoyin, Igho Ogbu, Akor Adams, Gift Orban, obinna Nwobodo, Arthur Okonkwo, Nwakali must be added to refresh the team. We missed doing this during the friendlies which is quite unfortunate.

Add these hungry set of players to the team and watch our fortunes change.

NFF can't change the players and the SE is not qualifying for the world cup because the players will never be changed.

Boniface likes to assist and should be playing LW while Moffi plays RW if chukwueze is un-available while Adams plays Striker then Orban plays AM while iwobi plays LCM and Nwakali plays RCM and Ndidi/Onyedika/Yussuf plays DM.

Then Uzoho is permanently banned from the team.

Just look at what you typed.

Rather than suggest good wingers that will push the ones we currently have, you decided to move the strikers around. When did Moffi and Boniface turned to wingers? When last did Orban played as a midfielder?

The funniest thing is you listed 7 outfield players excluding the back 4 and goalkeeper.

Na 12 players dey play match? grin grin

Salah, Diaz, Nunez, Jota all play as wingers for Liverpool but they are strikers. so there's no harm in playing strikers as wingers.

Orban will play SS, I call the SS role as AM so that the high amount of strikers the SE has can be put to use. Iwobi is not a Bruno Fernandez type of midfielder that scores lots of goals especially when the strikers don't score...

Iwobi, Nwakali and other midfielders should play as CM or CAM not as AM or SS because they don't score goals and Super Eagles needs passers in Midfield and Iwobi, Nwakali and Onyedika/ndidi/yussuf/Onyeka midfield will either pass to the wings or AM who would then cross or pass to the central striker or other players in the box.

simple.

No they cannot beat Lesotho
They aren’t willing to give 100%
Lesotho or Zimbabwe on a good day will beat Nigeria
You think those boys are playing when they hear they’d face Nigeria
But NPFL boys will beat Lesotho, Zimbabwe & Benin republic because they’re much more hungry & desire to prove they can
They yearn for the opportunity but you guys reserved every spot for foreign based players and goalies 😂

We've never started a WCQ with this kind of wackness.

The WCQ for Russia 2018 was tough but due to the fact that we started well winning Zambia 2-1 in their home, it set us up nicely and we qualified.

Now see the sham this man has put us in playing weak teams like Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Yes, we started with a 2-1 win away to Zambia while our other two opponents Cameroon and Algeria played 1:1. And the other teams played catch-up till it was all over.

Now we have put ourselves in a very difficult position

This is like saying you can wear two right foot Nike Air Jordan shoes to a party since it is costlier than what most gees will wear after all.

This was exactly how Rohr kept mismatching players. Square pegs never fit in round holes even if they are made of gold.

Wetin u dey talk? Salah is naturally a winger.. he plays as an inverted winger.. Diaz is also 100% a winger.. Jota spent the majority of his career as a winger before joining Liverpool, but he can play as a central forward.. Nunez is a strilee, but his pace and dribbling skills make him able to play on the wing... All 5 of Liverpool's first choice forwards are versatile.. the same cant be said of ours...

You want to tweak the formation and play players in roles they arent technically suited for

Lineup and results are two different things like we witnessed

We only have one bonified star which is osimehn

Everyone else is a piece of ⚙️ In a bigger engine in their club

What I’m saying is 90% of our players are Glorified role players, and seeing this result is not surprising at all we all think football is played by big names or the club you play i feel bad for us.

Because by the end of the day your name won’t score the goals.

This team is not a unit they need a firm and discipline coach to hold everyone accountable or else we’re gonna end up like Germany or worse Belgium and waste our golden generation

SE fans should hope Zamalek hire JP since he can't be fired due to paucity of funds.

Can imagine how it feels knowing the coach is already seeking for "greener pastures" while still in charge of the team....JP don run Naija street.

The only thing I can agree with is that Nwakali is very hungry indeed in fact he is in starvation.

He is earning less than what he earned at the very lowly almost bankrupt Ponferradina who got relegated and now after 11 games 8 loses Chaves are at the bottom in relegation zone again.

Nwakali has absolutely nothing to offer , he remains in dead poor quality clubs because he also is poor.

After 8 years in Europe 🌍 your are still hyping what is already dead .

I believe under a REAL coach and some dropping + addition of players we should be back on track, still alot of games to be played. I just want NFF to announce a new coach before AFCON starts so he can use the AFCON to know his players and bed in his tactics before the next round of WCQ next year.

At this point I don't mind if they even announce any of Amunike, Finidi or Oliseh as interims, at least those ones are our ex-internationals and will call up enough midfielders as well as scout more of our fringe players doing well in Europe and back home.

Just get Gbeseiro abi Passeiro far far far away from my National team.
We are always reactionary. That's why we fail.

SE players are versatile.

If Iwobi plays AM then Nwakali/Onyeka and Ndidi/Onyedika/Yussuf play midfield in a 4-2-3-1.

Or play only one striker and play Iwobi as AM then Nwakali at Iwobi's left and Onyeka at Iwobi's right then play Onyedika and Ndidi as CM and DM then in the 2nd half bring on Boniface, Moffi and Orban for Nwakali, iwobi and Onyeka.

The point is the SE is not scoring goals and to score goals you need players that like to assist, create chance for others to score and are selfless like Boniface, Moffi, Awoniyi on the wings.

The open net Awoniyi missed was created by Boniface due to Boniface been on the LW.
