....of course I know. My question is; what makes him best President we ever had according to you?!
From his little years as president, he was the only one with Ballz to damn his party and so called Godfather I remember him telling obj to shut up and allow him to his job I know that won't count because the party you follow hold loyalty in high esteem even at the sake of the country

Since I was born no president reduced petrol price but this man did it I think from 75 to 63
He also have plans on pipeline but his health was a major issue he may also be killed sef no one knows
But deep down in you a healthy yaradua will perform better and move mountains from the little he did
He also didn't steal from us

All these are what we are suffering now

This is why as previously discussed documentation is important.

In our lifetime Obj is attempting to rewrite the history we all lived through.

And some people will latch onto this as the true version of events.

At this rate Give Obj enough time and he will tell us yardua election was Nigerias most free and fair election. One where Micheal Jackson naturalized and voted for pdp.
From my undertanding of the news article and the little I know about history I don't think Obasanjo is trying to rewrite any history.

If u read between the lines he was referring to 1998 LGA election when he was fresh out of prison, was being proped to be PDP presidential candidate. He was recently out of prison and was out of touch with the reality of things outside.

His party members asked him to bribe and settle INEC but he chose not to and they lost the elections. He further stated that the next election his guys went heavily on the bribing which he supported(staying in house as stated in the article means he approved of it ) and it didn't work out as planned.

U can infer that Obasanjo later fine-tuned the bribing/rigging machinery he learnt from his party members and he used it to win subsequent elections while he was in government and even to install Yar Adua.

There's a reason Obasanjo didn't tell the story between the 1998 incident because there's no way he look us in the eyes and claim he won those subsequent elections on merit for his party.

Yardua had the same luck that muritala did. He died early in his term before the outcomes of his policies caught up with him

Yardua reversed the sales of the refineries. This was over 15 years ago. We might have achieved fuel independence if he had not done so. Instead to this day we have an economically unviable albatross on our necks.

He also reversed the policies favoring virgin Nigeria, making Branson pull out. Other potential investors saw this happen and who knows what opportunities were lost.
You are looking at it from Investor point of view
Why will we have virgin Nigeria when Nigeria airways was dead and gone
Moreover is that not what all of em(president) are doing going for locally made
Virgin Nigeria is a franchise or subsidiary of Virgin Atlantic those guys will just be milking us thinking they are developing us

Aswear, Lord of Ajasa, 9ice, tuface, etc.

Listening to 9ice and looking back now, I feel he came ahead of his time. If (ice had come out like a year or two ago, he will be swimming in serious digital money now. All those egbons missed out on the streaming income and other money's social media has made available to artistes
Yeah some of those guys would have made even more money and more waves now, but they too did far better than the people who came before them in the late 90s.

The people who will come in the next decade might also so do far better than the current crop. My suspicion though is that Afrobeat might soon max out. It has started being saturated with a talentless guys sounding similar and when the novelty wears off there might be a regression to the mean.

Something tells me the last set of people that will make serious money from milking afrobeat will be dem Burnaboy set. Those that will come after them are already sounding boring and talentless

virgin nigeria was not a national airline.
it was a foreign airline set up in nigeria
it brought jobs and business opportunities for people providing them services

there is a world of difference between being an employee/contractor of arik air and an employee/ contractor of a multinational airline

i personally have very little issue with foreign companies. as they are 'milking us' they are paying good wages, paying good money to contractors, enforcing standards, and growing the middle class by actually injecting money into the economy. and also providing you with a confam japa ticket cheesy

the nigerian run business will pay the bare minimum, kill the unions, and outsource every last thing to their already well to do family members and friends. 80% of the money they make is not going to the economy but to pandora accounts

Unless it is his own local government election alone, there is no way anybody in PDP in November 1998 was asking for permission from OBJ to offer bribe in an election. There is most definitely no way OBJ was overruling PDP top dogs if they decided to bribe people. OBJ that joined the party just a few weeks to the election?

The OBJ of later years is not the OBJ of 1998. He just didn’t have that much power then.

PLUS We have very good witnesses that can confirm that PDP bribed people during that election.

I hope the "Nigeria is broke" crew are seeing how reckless our Govt officials steal spend money? When we talk about Govt paying proper leaving wages, fixing basic amenities and all, they will remind us that Nigeria is broke. But Polithiefcians can lavish billions of Naira to update website or to feed for 6 months, not to talk of the over bloated contract they award or monthly security vote that cannot be probed.
All State in Nigeria will comfortably pay ₦100k minimum wage, but our darling Governors would rather use that money to buy houses in Banana Island for their side chics....
Nigeria is broke.........

While the election wasn’t without irregularities, if they somehow found a way to make it completely free and fair, OBJ wins every time.

The PDM-Ekwueme juggernaut was unbeatable. PDP was a combo of majority of the North and majority of the SE and SS.

Nigeria is broke na

they have been doing this since forever with minimal consequences to the economy

before there was somehow enough money to accommodate their excesses and still get somethings to work

now with oil prices and demand dropping, we cannot meet or even attempt to meet nigerias needs and politicians greed

U need to read the news article again. He was specific, he said " a local government election in Ogun State" . That is, just his state LGA elections which his party members will definitely carry him along since he's registered in one of the wards in that state.

The tone of his narration also didn't sound as if they were seeking his permission to bribe, but they are carrying him along as presidential election candidate who happens to be from their state.

Why is he saying we lost ALL the local governments again?

Ezeemo is confused.

PDP lost in the SW because they were not accepted, not because they didn’t bribe.

If Govt can continue living this expensively lavish lifestyle, then they can pay workers good wages and all. Na the "Nigeria is broke" comment whenever the masses demand something from their Govt dey vex me, Nigeria will always be broke when the people demand for good road, stable electricity, improved Salary or subsidy of any kind.

Don’t kill the message because of the messenger. If you go to the poorest and most broke-ass countries on earth, they still have corrupt politicians living large and exploiting the masses.

These people are incorrigible souls. Unless they experience serious consequences, they will keep stealing until they get to the last cup of garri.

it simple means you are growing older

we all reach a point where we lock out 90% of contemporary music and focus on the music we listed to from age 12 to 30+ or so. anything after that is weird , not real music , 'whatever kids listen to these days '
It's simple as this, and so the cycle continues. grin

The guy dey reverse engineer history.

First election, they lost because they didn’t bribe.
Second election, they bribed but did not bribe fully so they lost.

Excusez moi?

Maybe, just maybe, the people did not want you.

You see the lamba all the time when people get caught and think they can talk their way out of it rather than resigning themselves to the inevitable
