Kano Guber: Gov Yusuf Heads To Supreme Court Over Appeal Court Verdict by Bobloco(op): 5:19pm On Nov 22, 2023

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has headed to the Supreme Court to contest the judgment of the Appeal Court sacking him from office.

Recall that the Appeal Court had sacked Yusuf, of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, over ineligibility to contest while declaring the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nasiru Gawuna, winner of the governorship election in the state.

There has been confusion over the Appeal Court judgement that sacked Yusuf.

The court has asked concerned lawyers to return certified true copies of its judgement for corrections.

The Appeal Court had ruled that Yusuf was not a member of the NNPP during the election.

However, the certified true copies of the judgement triggered confusion as it indicated that the court upheld Yusuf’s victory.

We are no more in democracy. Why would the decision of a three man panel supercede the votes of millions of people.

'One man one vote' Once the people unanimously vote for their leaders, that should be all.

If any leader in ineligible or erring,the people should have the final say not the courts.The highest Court should do is to order INEC to reconduct d election so that the people can decide again not for the Court to be selecting winners up and down.

Tinubu and his gang are simply telling us that.... Our votes don't count.

This is the same Kwankwaso that said he is the senior brother of Peter Obi and he has a PhD how come he committed such a blunder by fielding and ineligible candidate for the elections where then is the competency if I may ask.

The insertion of the section which I view as an outlier towards the end of the Certified True Copies even when the entire body of the judgement is giving reasons for sacking of the Governor shows how dirty and desperate our politicians can be. They must have bought over someone in the clerical team to insert this and speedily pushed it out to the public to instigate confusion and crisis.

They don't know these Supreme Court guys. They might have their challenges and perceptions by some of us, but no one can intimate them.
