I saw the post and o shook my head . They will pay doctor that will do night and day shifts 250k and dem expect make dead body no surplus for the hospital ?

This country dey somehow sef . Personally I think doctors on an average should earn more than tech boils and those who work in the oil and gas sector .

That 250k na wetin no dey enough wey make boys go on strike in 2011-2012. Imagine if e no dey enough with the general price level then, how meagre it would be now.

The country needs a comprehensive public health insurance scheme which will go hand in hand with private schemes as well, in order to ameliorate the problem of lack of quality healthcare and poor staff remuneration. It won't magically transform things to Western standards, but it would definitely make things significantly better.
It goes without saying that corruption has to be tackled as well, or else the funds will just be embezzled.

They condemned Hamas for taking hostages, but they were silent over thousands of Palestinian women & children kidnapped by the IDF for decades. Only to be released now for prisoner exchange.

May Allah deal with the oppressors!

Thousands of Palestinian women and children kidnapped by the IDF?

Where are the records and pictures of these thousands of women and children?

If you are sincerely looking for thousands of Muslim women and children kidnapped / taken to education camps and possibly sterilized, look no further than China..

May Allah deal with the Chinese and with any Muslims that do business with them. Hopefully we will soon see a worldwide boycott of China

If you notice some companies with global outreach and have a reputation to protect that usually suffer cos GSK global won't want to know that GSK Nigeria is just ejecting waste product inside river. They will want to keep up standards from their home country

But a Chinese company an Indian company might not mind. Them no send bad press as long as Naija govt looks the other side. Nigeria at this point will most likely overlook many things just to please these investors

Spambot took me out before I could respond

The reason companies like gsk, shell et Al have issues comes back to the tires we were talking about. Adopting 101% western standards in a third world county is counterintuitive.

I remember reading that pampers or huggies parent company built a factory for diapers and their costs went out of control. Meanwhile molfix parent company built a factory at a fraction of the cost. Which meant their diapers cost less and sold more.

You have to bribe govt officials. There is no way around it. But as a western company, you can be sanctioned back home for doing so.

Oil spills have not stopped in the ND. But are you going to carry dayokanu oil to Hague? Will your protests lead to impact on their stock price?

The properly positioned investor will make mad money. Mtn is here to stay. It was income from Nigeria that turned them from an SA backwater to a proper multinational. That and their tolerance for risk

They are currently building a new head office. The outsourcing of base stations means they have identified their core business.

For a starting salary that 250k is even too generous. Only surgeons that are specialist should be earning higher.

E better they retire and go find another job.

See insensitive talk o, and some people like am sef .

Some Investment bankers who don’t even do as much as doctors do earn above that as entry level salary .

A doctor that is exposed to so many work hazards , does day and night shifts as the job requires and even has his mental health at risk due to some work related trauma is the one u think don’t deserve more than 250k.

Na wa to u o

I think the 250k from the private hospital is fair enough, when you consider that government hospitals don't even pay their medical officers that much.

Imagine the level of entitlement to be laughing at a pay of 250k which might just be the fixed salary without other bonus pay involved. No wonder private hospitals charge insane amounts for treatment. Simple consultation that won't pass 10minus you will be seeing 40 to 60k.

It is laudable that a private hospital is even willing to hire a full-time medical officer, most of them just hire doctors from public hospitals on part time basis in order to reduce cost.

One of the things that hastened my exit from the country was my realisation that the average man on the street would always support the government and employers whenever doctors talk about inadequate remuneration.

Someone is saying only specialist surgeons should be earning 250k. I have a cousin who is a cardio-thoracic surgeon and I know the way he was slaving away, especially during his residency. You now want him to be paid 250k in these times.

As long as it does not directly affect them most people are not truly interested in the plight of others.
