His batteries are seriously overpriced. I purchased some from him so I know. However, he sells good quality cells.

truthbetold22:

Is that why a 48v 200ah bank(10kw) should cost 1.2 million Naira? Meritsun 48v 200ah cost $1500 or 850k on alibaba. Is your battery better than meritsun?

Greedy Nigerians!

My 24v 5kw felicity battery is acting up.
It works well during the day but at night even without putting on a single bulb, it will go off. It's barely 2 years old.

I need a better recommendation of a 24v or lifepo4 ready made battery pack I can use for my system.

It works well during the day because the pv is giving the backup. Once the sun is off, the battery can't withstand the loads alone. I wish you were able to view individual cells performance.
Defective grade cells used in building the pack is the major suspect here but even at that, two years of usage is too short.
Abuse is usually brought under control via lvd either from the bms or the inverter. Dc circuit breaker if installed usually takes care of short circuit.
Two years of usage for lifepo4 battery is very bad. Lead acid battery is far better than it but one may think you bought fairly used one, probably the one with 2000 cycle life.
Sorry about the unfortunate situation!

Up your budget so yo don't end up with mediocre set up.
My recommendations includes LFP battery, don't start with lead acid battery.

I blame @Masterdazhem for openly stating his budget here. Hopefully, he doesn't end up using someOne here as installer/suppliier because chances that they would help him spend more than that budget is very high.

once again, I constantly would keep on saying this, make una try dey avoid Lithium batteries. Even banks, Telecommunication masts, etc, companies that have deep pockets don't/rarely use Lithium batteries, YET una for Nairaland go dey TRY force am down the throat of those who don't know any better. Some of whom are evven struggling to buy 200AH batttery sef.

I have 20 pcs of 300-watts panels, use both MorningStar, and epEver MPPT chargeControllers, yet na common acid battery I dey use and have encountered NO issue.

Also, make Una dey try dey avoid Hybrid Inverters. The way dem dey spoil eh, no be here. Even the process of REPAIRs get k-Leg.

Don't buy a readyMade battery pack. Most what's in Nigeria is composed of cheap lithium battteries, very very cheap PWM charge controller, laptopCharger, desktop PC fan, and funny paddings of carton and the likes.

Why not just buy as many solarr panels as you could afford, buy charge controller (PWM or MPPT) , buy battery, and be done with it. It's quite cheaper now and later.

Long before Solar became popular in Nigeria, I have built batttery packs out of need AND passion, hence know what it entails. Now a lot of people, who are in this line mostly for the money are cooking up al manner of things. Even laptop battery sef, a single cell could render the entire setup useless.
Now add quality of battery, among other things. What if they didn't weld the batteries well.

Even my next battery buy, I plan buying 2Volts, rather than 12-volts batteries. I still hhave no reason to go lithium foor numerous reasons one of which is stress of getting quality cells.

...annd the energy wey dem go take attend to you when you come back for servicing/complains, ain't no where the energy they used in confusing you to buy it in the first place.

Can 2m set up your system?
How much is medium grade Lead Acid battery now? Most 5KVa and above inverters come as 48v ; so he will need 4 as minimum. And he should be ready to buy another set in 2-3 years depending on how much he cycles the battery.
I am aware that he can spend withing his budget and get a decent setup, but lithium battery afford future expansion and cater also for unpredictable usage and large power draw.
Little is better than nothing !!!
People should just learn the rules of whatever battery setup they settle for, otherwise

I don't need load assessment... His Budget will determine what load to be prioritized on the Inverter..

I can have a load of 10KW and my budget is 1kw set up just to power light points.

Back up can be increased as well as Solar production..
5KW inverter should go with 5KWH LFP pack and 3KW Solar. 3M will get this done... With Change left.

Exactly my point.
I did this set up recently. 5.5KW, 5KWH LFP batteries, and 3KW Solar.

The owners average load is just 300W, but want to be able to Pump water as well.

The Inverter and batteries handled the Pumping machine (2KW) Flawlessly. Also recommend dey pump during the day at least Solar panel will support. Even without Solar Batteries alone is sufficient to withstand the Current draw.

my issue with Lithium dealers is, most are rubbish. Not to talk of the fact you guys seem to be advocating Lithium as if there weren't other battery chemisteries before Lithium was found.

and what makes you think it's every battery that goes bad or need be changed within 2 to 3 years.

Same with Banks. because they need no disappointment. It's one of the numerous reasons OperatingSystems such as Debian, CentOs, etc became overtly popular - they're never bleeding edge. New tshimmy things comes with bugs which could be detrimental to critical systems.

Since I went linux years back, it's been centOs, then Debian, and nothing else.

Battery is still in warranty, I've only used it for a year and 6 months or so.

During the day I use it with all appliances from overn to freezer to ac to pumping machine and washing machine.

At night it goes off before 2am even when I only have 1 bulb on or none at all. Sometimes it won't go off at all and have like 70 percent in the morning on same 1 bulb.

I don't even have the receipt so I'm not sure they will be willing to fix it or anything.
