IamAtikulate:That is what they don’t know. Lagos,Kano, etc are our hunting grounds😀😀 In 2013,I watched a broke Bini boy who learnt panel beating under an Igbo man turn to a millionaire in 8 months just from buying motor parts on credit from his former Oga’s suppliers in Onitsha and selling same in Damaturu where we all were then. The guy then na Igbo already cos he spoke fluent Igbo and goes to Onitsha and back like going to toilet. |

2) FCT should not be included in north central, is the symbol of Nigeria unity and should be treated as a pan Nigerian City. 2) Lagos and Ogun IGR you are celebrating is majorly tax based. 3) south east indigenes contribute so much to the IGR of Lagos and Ogun. |

plaindealer:Yet not better than any South eastern state. Corruption and embezzlement is so predominant in Southwest because they prefer praise mongering to telling truth to power |

YourGFsnatcher:IGR is all about how much you can tax the people and businesses within a locality. In a country like Nigeria where certain regions are restricted from amassing their full potentials, using the IGR indices will always keep the numbers skewed. IGR as an economic indicator of the country will make logical sense in a Confederation where every region is allowed untrammelled access to control their resources and opportunities within, thereby attaining their optimum potentials to promote a healthy competition within the country. This means there’s a level playing field for everyone, without the age long indignation felt by some that they are playing with one hand tied behind their back. Until this lopsided structure from hell is addressed, the IGR debate will be at best a federal government incentive given to some to optimize their gains over the other. Will Texas in the US ever use IGR as an indicator of sound economic policies over California if the later has been subjugated into penury by the federal government, by cutting off access to critical infrastructure that could ignite economic revitalization? |

IamAtikulate:You have to generate high revenue to be viable. Trade is not necessarily the biggest sector in a state. In Lagos ten percent of workers meaning income earners feeding families are working for the state government and if no revenue it would not have been possible. There is still banking, the OPS, that employ millions of the around five million workers in Lagos. So trading is a small component of any GDP. Production, services, transportation and etc are still there |

plaindealer:IGR simply means who was more efficient in collecting more taxes. It has nothing to do with PER-CAPITA which I rate above all other things. Infact, even Akwa ibom state self if they want they can collect more IGR than Rivers State if they are more efficient in that regards. Stop doing shakara over Tax collection. The west use Tax collection to raise shoulder and it is stupid and useless. Use Per-Capita. Use Health Use education Use employment etc not all that iGR nonsense. To understand what I'm saying, Aba in Abia has less than 2% unemployment rate and yet they have the least IGR generation. That is to tell you what I'm talking about. |

bashlek:You are unwise. Like I said, SE is more economically savvy than SW. Here, we believe that "our brain drain today can be our brain gain tomorrow" Peter Obi always said that. Have you ever wondered how SE got back on her feet immediately after a 3 years devastating war? Go figure it out |

CaptainAyub:They are celebrating IGR while SE is using low taxes to encourage her population outside SE to repatriate their money home for investment. If they understand the kind of money Igbo businesses mop up from SW yearly and repatriate home, they will stop celebrating IGR and look for ways to open trade relations with other parts of the country. |

Niklaus398:If you have high revenue, there will be better health because of higher revenue, better education for the same reason and at least ten percent of people looking for employment will be catered for by government |

plaindealer:Stop causing wahala..igbos constitute a great number among the taxpayers in Ogun and Lagos states, up to abuja snd other states. We will see the reality when their country is birthed. How many hotels, industries, shops they own would shock you. Since I've been lodging in hotels outside lagos, I've not seen anyone owned by another tribe, same with transport companies. Can you mention just one popular transport company or hotel in Nigeria owned by us |
| Re: 2022 Internally Generated Revenue, Top 3 Per Zone by Niklaus398: 7:08pm On Nov 28, 2023 |
lawani:Nigeria has had more higher revenue than even Rwanda and yet they have less than all u mentioned than Rwanda. Shey I have used aba as a case study for u. Aba is the only city in Nigeria bar Lagos that has less than 2% unemployment rate and yet generate far far less than even tiny Ebonyi state. That is to make u understand what I'm saying. |

Idiots are celebrating what doesn't have a single effect on their lives. A generation that celebrates paper, while gnashing their teeth in real life. |

Niklaus398:Do you need to be told that the population also matter?. Revenue per Capita matters and Nigeria is probably the lowest in the world if Lagos is removed though I am not sure but you will need to be a war torn country to be lower |
