Asake is selling out stadiums in obodo oyinbo while singing mostly in his mother tongue. He's loved in the UK and US like crazy. Anytime he drops a body of work apple music must have his songs containing at least 3 spots from the 1-6 countdown. When he was being dragged when seyi vibes was also using a similar style of amapiano and choir effect, he switched and sang some songs without those effects and still made waves. Grammy nominee too. Asake within a short time has outpaced omah lay to me. Maybe if omah lay had a mighty record label or push too like asake got from olamide maybe the story might have been different.

My opinion though..

Probably because of his record label and a lesser pr team. We are in the era of you using money and promotions to push your work unlike before, if you drop your song and sit down hoping for a miracle you are on your own.. I have several omah lay songs in my music library as well as others. His afro depression melodies help me to cure my stress when Nigeria and Chelsea tag team to beat me. I just believe asake has gone far.

Same here. I started hearing about Omah Lay way before Asake and i have heard a number of his songs but i can't name a single one. None is just memorable enough IMO although they are decent songs. He probably needs a better producer cos in Afrobeats the beat and the melody are everything, not all these deep and meaningful songs he is trying to sell us.
