Same here. I started hearing about Omah Lay way before Asake and i have heard a number of his songs but i can't name a single one. None is just memorable enough IMO although they are decent songs. He probably needs a better producer cos in Afrobeats the beat and the melody are everything, not all these deep and meaningful songs he is trying to sell us.
Omah lay actually tries to combine both. Beat and melody with meaningful and soul reaching lyrics plus vibes. He has a unique way of producing his songs.

What is audiomack? You are seeing Spotify streams and you dare mention one backward streaming service. Why not mention boomplay to crown it all.

Aswear 😂 what is audiomack?

I am no Afrobeats expert but his tunes are not catchy enough for the casual observer. I watched a Ghanian show where the presenter was lamenting about how Kizz Daniel just repeated Odoyewu 20 times and had a monster hit. I just laughed at the guy's painment.
That is the type i am talking about. Omah Lay is trying to make too much sense when most casual listeners just want to vibe.

He was actually dropping nice love songs before he fully moved into afro emo like I love you, damn, lor lor and One with lyrics of doctor burst my liver. These days people just want to dance and vibe more though that's why you see the likes of metro boomin getting richer by the day in the US cause they can provide crazy production and beats to cover up some of these new generation rappers wack lyrics.

Women like music than us now since they are more emotional creatures that's why artists are one of the few set that mostly get them without much stress in form of groupies or normal relationship. Omah lay songs resonate with a lot of people though. He's had big songs before soso.

Nowadays it's the beat and composition that resonate especially with us in our parts of Africa so we can have a good time. A lot of those guys have watery lyrics. Wack pen games. That's one of the reasons I follow my guy shallipopi, his lyrics might look thrash especially to people who don't understand pidgin or street lingua but the production of his songs with nice amapiano beats and his melodies especially the hook still gets him massive fans and airplay. He also pays heavily for promotion.

If I want to listen to emo songs I will go back to juice wrld ,he was the only artist that wasn't faking sadness he was truly fighting demons till he died.

As for shallipopi you lost me dawg 😂, can't curse metro boomin and praise that urchin, that nigga is talentless

I scrolled through his songs now and i couldn't pick out even one memorable one. Afrobeats heads might appreciate them but the average man of the street will overlook them.

Juice wrld and xxxtentacion. Very talented emo rappers with sensible lyrics we lost to the wicked hands of death. Them and pop smoke songs are still on repeat till today for me.

You say what? Comot body for shallipopi 😁.
That's what I'm saying his lyrics are not something you might want to sit down and think over for some time when the track ends especially as he uses street lingo but the beat and the way he arranges his words will just make one have a good time vibing like several of the top artists in the industry today. Metroboomin is a producer.

You will be shocked how those type of nonsense slangs get more airplay as long as your beat is catchy. Its music first characteristic is to be sweet and vibe-able. If you want life lessons listen to Wole Soyinka or Adeboye

In my Uni days this was one of the song banging
