Why would you buy a USB 3.0 ? That one is super expensive. USB 2.0 with four hubs is 4k but 3.0 with 4 hubs is 5k and more robust in quality, so I opted for 3.0

A USB hub of 10 ports and above should cost anywhere starting from 5,000 naira depending on your state of residence. I haven't seen that one before, even online on konga/jumia, the ones I've seen have 4-5 USB ports. I stay far from state capital so access to tech market is not readily available. Only two shops have USB hubs in the whole town. angry

how exactly did you end up with a Pure 24-volts inverter, and 1pcs of 12-volts battery ? actually wanted to do a 24v system and tubular due to their advantages. Then subsidy was hurriedly removed & dollar was going up crazily. So I had to think fast with the funds I had on me. So I thought to buy the inverter and a tubular battery and keep first pending when funds come to buy another battery but expected funds didn't come so I was stuck.

I have no regrets on the purchases Sha. The inverter I bought 137k that time now cost 200k. If I had hesitated a while longer, I would not have been able to do anything now cos inflation would have devalued the savings badly.

in your useCase, the inverter's role is to stepDown (reduce) output of the battery. can you imagine? It's annoying suffering in misdt of abundance. The irony and embarrament is much. embarassed

get as many devices with USB ports as possible, or buy USB hubs and if you could get hold of at least 20 USBs wether harvested, or in USB hubs, I would put you through on what to do. You might need an electrician (probably an assistant or one who's less busy enough to consider you) to put them together. It's very simple. not a problem, paddy paddy electricians dey. Kindly permit me to enter your DM.

About selling the 24v inverter, I don't know if I will jam money again. If I do na to just buy two small AGM or GEL batteries dey use am for house. Even if I am able to sell it at reasonable price, wetin person wan use 150-180k do in this Tinubu economy? So I say make I keep am.

Thanks so much for your time and responses. I appreciate you mightily

My Conclusion, going by your comments in DM, and considering the fact you reside in remote part of Nigeria + ain't technical at all + don't have someone who would hhelp you at minimum fees. I would suggest the following:

1. Buy a used 300W mono-Solar Panel (at least 4pcs).

2. You already have a Tubular battery, so make use of it.

3. Buy a USED charge controller of better quality. PWM would work for you, just ensure you buy one of better quality.

4. You ditch the batteryCharger they constructted for you because now, the Solar Panels would replace that.

5. Please don't buy expensive cables, that wire that NEPA / PHCN cuts whenever you fail to pay your bills is more than enough. I have used it for companies, and use it personally myself. What's more, that Igbo man selling electrical things down the street sells it.

6. You continue using your UPS as inverter.

7. Don't buy anything else called accessoory, especially to install thhe solar panels on the roof or whatever. I rrarely need those things, except when working on specialized roofs.

with the above, you no longer need thhe USB ports as things would work well.

PS: I didn't get to watch any of the videos you sennt me because of reasons best known to me. But even without watching, I doubt it would make any difference

Since it's for a charging station, you could have simply bought those car chargers and connect them directly to the batteries. I use it at home and trust me they are pretty fast.

You didn't plan well. You don't need the inverter. You could have simply bought more panels.

Well nothing spoil. Carry out your feasibility studies you might need to dispose the inverter to get more panels.

You didn't plan well. You don't need the inverter. You could have simply bought more panels. I admit, but Experience is the best teacher.

Like bassdow said, In Life, you hardly could eat Your Cake and have it back. you either Spend MONEY or Spend TIME or Spend both MONEY & TIME

Since it's for a charging station, you could have simply bought those car chargers and connect them directly to the batteries I dey fear make e no spoil people phone.

For now will use the connect USB hubs together and plug the female and into the USB port of the charge controller like bassdow suggested earlier. I think it should suffice. If more load comes in, then I can turn on the UPS to supplement it

This wouldn't work well because those USB ports delivers maximum of 2Amps annd by the time you connect more than 2 phones on one port, it would charge buut take much longer. So if you're thinking of conecting a USB hub to a USB port, then connecting phones to the USB hub, the phones would charge very very slowly as you add more. Don't forget, those USB hubs ain't meant for that. Even myself who suggested USB hub, did so so as it make use of the ports.

My suggestion about getting more panels, and using your existing battery is best, ELSE, go with sugestion of converting USB hubs + a small custom circuitry to get the job done.

1. Working on it now

3. I'm not sure used charge controllers are
available around here.

New 40a PWM is 27k here and 80a PWM is 40k. I don't think I can get used quality charge controllers here unless I order from Lagos.

5. Very funny. cheesy .. to think I spent about 25k on 6mm flex cables. Old Nepa wire plenty for den office in the village. Den fit dash person for token.

7. Having spent much already, It may take time to source funds to put 4 panels together. Will be adding one by one as funds permit

Still on 5.. do you mean those naked Nepa wire without outer insulation?

have said it here before. Those cables ain't necessary. Na for those wey get money to spend or those with such requirement. It's informations such as this, t hatt I expected people to share here. No be to dey ADVERTISE up annd down.

You could buy 2 pcs of 300Watts solar panels but when you factor in cost of transportation + installation, if you wouldn't be hooking them up yourself, then you understand it's cheaper buying them at once.

There's a reason I suggested USED charge controller. I am someone who loves and always goes for quality items. And what do I do when I can't afford, or not willing to spend much on a BrandNew quality item, I go for used ones, still in great working condition.
A lot of chargeControllers in the market are PURE NoneSense. So rather spend much to buy a brandNew lowQuality item, kukuma spend less and buy a USED quality item. Just ensure they give you at least 1-month guarantee. And test very very well before leaving there. Should you notice anything, raise it to their notice and validate and verifyy all their reasons or excuuses to your complains.

do you mean those naked Nepa wire without outer insulation? NO. I mean the wires that goes from NEPA pole, to your house. The ones NEPA cut when you don't pay them. They don't cut the naked ones na. The ones they cut have grey coating. For you, you would need 2 - one for positive, the other for Negative.
It's alwlays cheaper buying a bundle even if you think you don't need them all.
Just be careful so they don't cheat you. those sellers have 2 version - one is Full (longer) and the other isn't. When you ask them, most times, they first show you the one that isn't full, but if you specifically ask them for the full one, then they go in and bring it, of course the price would be different.

Most times, you also don't need those clips used in installing solar panels on the roof. Most times, that thick
wire e.g binding-wire sold at shops selling building materials, is more than enough. You just pass it through
the hole on the solar panel's aluminuim frame and tie it on the nail already used in nailing the roofing sheet.
you see, you don't even need to nail anything. Leave those accessories to circumstances they're truely needed

by now, was expecting someone to have be willing to take up the task of assisting you put things together in case you don't know how.

I have electrician friend. He was the one that helped me couple the system. Though he does more of new construction house wiring and old TV/DVD repair

I will show him your response.

Incorrect.
phones charges at most 5-volts Galaxy S23 Ultra can charge anywhere between 5-20V PDO.
Car battery as the output could be very dirty Car battery is DC, output is not dirty.
Car phone charger (which is actually an inverter but outputs CLEAN 12-volts) Car phone charger is not an inverter, it is a DC-DC converter. The output is not fixed at 12V, it depends on the design.
Adios.

bassdow:

phones charges at most 5-volts, your UPS batery is mostly 6-volts or higher. car batteries are 12-volts. You wan fryy your phone be that.

Moreover, taking current directly from the battery, is not always good especially if na Car battery as the output could be very dirty.

What I would suggest is, if your chargeController have USB port, make uuse of that or if you have laptop or TV that has USB port, make use of those or buy Car phone charger (which is actually an inverter but outputs CLEAN 12-volts) and connect that to your battery.

mind you, Car battery ain't meant for deep discharge like solar batteries are.

Incorrect.
Air conditioner load is mostly inductive in nature, not resistive.
Therefore, P=IV gives an incorrect power value.
The correct formula is P=I x V x Pf.
P=Power(W)
I=Current(I)
V=Potential Difference or Voltage(V)
Pf=Power Factor.
Adios.

bassdow:

...but the Voltage and Cuurrent is stated there or isn't it ?

P= IV i.e Power = Current * Voltage . Use crossMultiply to find what's missing i.e
I = P/V
,
V = P/I

Now, you are deflecting, putting up a defense for your Bleep up.
1. If any car is in the picture and the car runs, he'll be using the charging ports in the car, not the battery. I believe the guy is not dumb.
2. Power from a battery is stable, did Auntie Google not tell you that?

bassdow:

Just because you want to rubbish someone, you choose to either be iignorant, or display thhe fact you don't know what you saying.

The person mentioned using car batttery to charge phone or the likes.

Who knows if he intends using the batttery while it's connected and in use by a car.

And yea, an unstable voltage is dirty. Ask Aunty google. That's a word I've known since secondary school days. Funny una wey claim Professional Experts no sabi am.

Would like to upgrade the solar panels to something near 1KW as I need more current to suffice for additional load and remainder for battery charge during the day but for now I dey enjoy the setup for my load need and also learning from other ppl's experience in the thread.

Sorry for asking, were you running the 2hp AC on the 3kw 24v SRNE Inverter?

If yes, for how long and what was the temperature of the AC set to?

What is the efficiency of the inverter?

What is the power consumption of your 2Hp AC?

I haven't really used my inverter like that. Only bought it out of box for testing once. Even with single 12v battery, it will come on, but it will not output current

So far it's connected to a battery, the light doesn't go off. Na 24v nah. So you shouldn't worry about idle consumption. If it's 12v you can be worried

I just feel a little uncomfortable to have something still on while I’m out. I could be out for days. I will just find a connector I can use to unplug the battery if I’m going out for long.

I don’t really like the product as you can’t even know your battery level. I was looking for luminous but it was too expensive then the guy persuade me to buy this smarten.

Thanks.
