States that are already having trouble repaying their debts and simultaneously providing government services and utilities?

The steel industry needs to be privatised and deregulated as PDP successfully did to NITEL and the telecom sector as well as the petrochemical plants of NNPC in Eleme, Rivers State. Unfortunately, the pseudo progressive/socialist party of Buhari and Tinubu can’t and won’t privatise it, hence the looting continues.

Una go just open mouth without thinking. Doesn’t the business have to be profitable to attract buyers? Nitel has never been profitable and better person never attempt to buy. Fixed line telecoms in this century? Eleme na cash cow. Indorama got it for peanuts. Atiku wey buy up almost everything abandoned Ajaokuta and you think money dey there? That was a useless White elephant project. Naija should cut losses and move on from it. Na to destroy and rebuild something else there o

Was Eleme not a loss making entity like the refineries before it was privatised? If/when Ajaokuta is sold to cut losses and move on, won’t you still say it was sold for peanuts?

You need to update yourself on NITEL.

December 4, 2014
NATCOM buys NITEL, M-TEL for $252m

Director-General of BPE, Benjamin Dikki, explained that NATCOM is a consortium of seven Nigerian companies. It emerged the new owners of NITEL and MTEL by offering to pay $252 million, an amount said to have met the BPE’s bid price.

Dikki explained that the privatisation process was a guided liquidation that would help in bringing back the two entities that had lain waste for over two decades.

According to him, NATCOM emerged the successful bidder in technical and financial commitment from the array of up to 17 firms that keenly contested for the two companies.

He said: “It is our fervent hope and desire this time around we have succeeded in procuring a technically and financially qualified bidder that will not only meet the deadline for payment of the purchase consideration but more importantly deploy the required resources to rehabilitate and grow these companies to play a significant role in the Nigerian telecoms sector.

“We faced numerous challenges in packaging this transaction, including outstanding unpaid terminal benefits of ex-staff of NITEL and M-TEL, arrears of salaries of the retained staff and outsourced security and huge accumulated unpaid licence and other dues to NCC.”

The 3 refinery and the ajaokuta steel should be sold as scrap metals. At least the money would get up to 500M.

Ajaokuta steel that has not been able refine a single Kg of steel yet, billions is been allocated each year to pay ghost workers and routine maintenance.

The black man is an error in creation/evolution. He was never meant to be. There was a sort of mistake or genetic mutation that occurred that saw to his existence. He is very inferior race to other humans. He is unintelligent and lacks the capacity to govern himself. Wherever you see him govern, the whole structure collapses. Take for instance, ordinary business organisation like Shoprite that was taken over by the black Nigerians have collapsed. You hardly see ordinary air cooling system working. The state of South Africa is in total mess after black South African started governing.
For the first time in their national life, a former president, Jacob Zuma stood trial, accused of embezzlement and corruption.
Nigeria is the worse because we have all it takes to make a Caucasian state become heaven on earth but we are wicked, corrupt, nepotistic and religiously bigoted. Look around us today and see millions wallowing in extreme poverty because of bad leadership. The worse is yet to come as they have assembled again, their chief-thief is in power, so it is looting spree more than what happened in previous administration of the most useless and clueless president called Buhari.
Call me names but I don't care. All I know is that the black race is inferior race and can never match the other human races. He is cursed.

Any revival attempt without involving the builders,Russia, is a waste of money.
Govt wants to revive a company that never produced anything, while staff keep getting paid, while DSC that rolled out steel products for years is in comatose. They brought Indians that stole the company to dust.
Ajaokuta will never work.

Way back 1992, one of my profs that was involved in feasibility studies informed us of the 3 "A"s ruining Nigeria. Ajaokuta was one if them. He said the cost of steel to be produced from there will always be more expensive than imported ones. That the place was a money pit.

Ok keep saying that to yourself. I had someone close to me who used to work there. They go to the office band do nothing. At the end of the month they are paid in full. With all allowances due them.

Oga, I wrote something similar some time back, some agreed, the usual empty proud for nothing Africans disagreed and felt insulted.
I even advocated employing sucessful administrators, ex presidents of countries that have done well to run government, right to the local government level. Another was is to get Britain back, not to run as colonialist but administrators.
See, we have proven we cannot make progress ruling ourselves, we are Africans and not just Africans but black Africans. Eg we are deeply tribalistic and will rather follow tribal instincts over communal progress. We will rather choose a criminal over a righteous fellow because the criminal is our brother.
We cannot continue doing things the same failed way and expect good result.
As Trump ones said to the anger of black Africans, show my one country doing well, they are all shit holes!
Go in YouTube and watch the reaction of John Kerry towards out oga at the top when he spoke at COP Dubai few days ago.

Good initiative if the money won't be looted because a new steel company would cost around $5B to $10B, building another one from scratch might be a white elephant project for FG at the moment. Or FG should rather sell it to an investor
