So who was better in Nigerian history? Let me guess, you're about to say Peter Rufai or Aloy Agu abi? Lol!
I started watching football in 1986 and I watched all three keepers in their prime, did you watch Rufai when he was still in Belgium before moving to the Netherlands ?

One of the problems with the Igbo is the feeling of being the best stock of humanity there is anywhere. That was the same problem with Adolf Hitler. We all know how he ended up. Any stock of humanity who preponderantly think that way is certain to end up the way Hitler did. It is when opportunity meets preparation that you have success. Talents abound in the North of Nigeria but the ignorant are not in the know of that.

Apart from Rufai in his time....he get mouth!
That's the underlying strategy of the pyschological aspect of goalkeeping. The more you trumpet your goalkeeping abilities the more attackers doubt their chances of getting the ball past you!

There's absolutely no need to. That is like asking if I watched Maradonna play to know if he was great or not. These opinions of "old timers" who refuse to understand that the modern game has developed far beyond what you watched in the 80's are frankly hilarious.

Peter Rufai does not have anything near the level of achievements Enyeama has which include practically single-handedly winning Nigeria an Afcon.

The irony is the clean sheet came to an end when his team mate scored an own goal.
Kudos to one of the greatest export from Africa to Europe.

That was deliberate. I am convinced it was deliberate because I was actually expecting it to happen.

Oga you don't know rufai

The fact that you don't appreciate football played in the 80s and 90s shows you don't know football

In the time of rufai, Enyeama can't even be in national team, do you know rufais competitors

Even Enyeama height can't make him be in the Eagles

Really doesn't matter what it's called tbh. These names were manufactured by some politicians. Now we don't go around calling ourselves south southerners...we identify as Niger Deltans so pardon me when I say we are from the Niger Delta region.

Former Nigeria international Vincent Enyeama has been named the greatest African goalkeeper of all time.

Enyeama was named Africa’s all time best by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

The IFFHS released the list of greatest goalkeepers in each federations with Enyeama selected from CAF.

The all time goalkeeper ranking was decided from 1987 to 2022

Italy’s 2006 World Cup winner Gianluigi Buffon was named the greatest goalkeeper from Europe and of all time.

Jose Luis Chilavert was picked as South America’s greatest, Mohamed Abdullaziz Al-Deayea of Saudi Arabia was selected for Asia, former Real Madrid and Costa Rica shot stopper Keylor Navas got the nod in CONCACAF while former Manchester United goalie was picked for Oceania.

Enyeama represented Nigeria at three FIFA World Cups in Korea/Japan 2002, South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014.

He featured in all the Super Eagles’ matches as they became African champions at the 2013 AFCON in South Africa.

Also, he helped Enyeama to back-to-back CAF Champions League titles one 2003 and 2004.

The IFFHS is an organisation that chronicles the history and records of association football.

It was founded in 1984 by Alfredo Pöge in Leipzig. It was based in Abu Dhabi for some time but, in 2010, relocated to Bonn, Germany, and then in 2014 to Zürich.

IFFHS has no affiliation with FIFA, but the world football governing body has cited awards and records conducted by IFFHS on their website.

I'm from Delta State and never refer to myself as "from the Niger Delta". That's a contraption that includes too many places that don't have any delta of the River Niger.

Enyeama is an Akwa Ibomite. That's more honorable than Enyeama is a "Niger Deltan". People from the Okavango Delta don't refer to themselves as "Okavango Deltan". Neither do people from the Nile Delta say "I'm Nile Deltan"

I agree with you...the Oldies can be funny..Pele of Brazil,Maradona,Zidane etc Most of us never needed to watch them play live before we know they were far greater than their peers..But we see Ronaldo & Messi & I am not sure it is open for debate that they were greater than the likes of Pele, Maradona,Zidane etc..Coming to Nigeria,Osihmen is on the verge of being Nigeria greatest Striker or Player in history..He is the first Nigerian to be ranked highest in a Ballon D'Or..To know all these we needed not have watched them play..The Stats are there.

I might get "killed" for this, and much as I love both states, I don't think Edo and Cross should be classed as part of the ND. Ondo doesn't have a tributary of the River Niger in its territory so shouldn't be classed as ND even though it has a sizeable Ijaw population on its Atlantic coast. Imo and Abia states gets classed as ND in the NDDC which I don't agree to.

Did you accidentally say Edo instead of Ondo? Just asking because you started with Edo but the follow up is about Ondo.

Well you may have a point but in the realest of terms, these State borders are arbitrary. In terms of cultural, hisrorical and ethnical identity, for example, can you really separate Edo from Delta or Akwa Ibom from Cross River?

So perhaps the geographical Niger Delta is a myth but the cultural Niger Delta is real.
