I wonder why these policemen can't ever seem to learn, given how they hear and see their colleagues who do this very same thing, get sacked, prosecuted and sent to jail.
bro these policemen do take high drugs before coming out on the road đŸ›Ŗī¸..

Most of them are ex convicts and hardened criminals.. the educated ones among them are in their offices collecting kickbacks from their rogue operations..

So how will these criminals on high drugs learn lessons? Wehn they re with guns and trigger happy

State governors are the real thieves. Another reason I spend as much time as I do criticising the central government criticising even my own state government.

Since 2018, I've subscribed to monthly and bi-monthly report of my state government allocations and expenditure, and local government allocations by BudgIT.
Local governments earn a lot especially in the Niger-Delta, plus extra quarterly payments to oil-producing communities; all controlled by the state governors.

If you know how much your immediate past governor and mine spent on overhead cost (cost of running government), you'd just look amusingly at the antics by Tinubu's COP28 critics (who's also as guilty).

Not forgetting ~#23 billion annual security votes each to Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Delta States, all unaccounted for.

Hold Governors accountable too.
Well said. It is a shame that people rather hold the FG accountable and look the other way when you talk about their respective states.

Governors will collect allocation for the state and still collect that of the LGAs. It is criminal.

They are thieves we must hold responsible. I'm focusing on Niger-Delta states deliberately to drive home the point.

If you beam your search light on the their counterparts in Southwest, you will discover that they are as guilty as those of Niger-Delta or even worse off.

I have always maintained the same position as you that State Governors are the real thieves and are worse than blood sucking demons 😈. ....But this is Nigeria were we don't know our real enemies so let keep shouting FG,FG.

Here's another one: Who really controls Nigeria's waters? Particularly, the areas bordering the Ocean like Lagos, parts of Ogun, and the South South states?

Officially there's a tussle between the state and federal governments for control with multiple court cases, but state governments have vested interests and get revenue from such.

State governments have fishing trawlers, task ocean operators, and have vested interests in related areas which do not exactly reflect in IGR. Since state governments largely do not subscribe to the FOI, there's never really a breakdown of IGR from the blue sector. And you and I know that's a lot of money.

Question is, people from Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, and Cross River, what are your state governors doing with these largely undeclared incomes? How do we really know what the state governments make from these areas?
If you doubt me, try to diligently get inside information about how these fishing trawlers are purchased, and who taxes these operators. Then analyse your state government's annual financial reports.

The blue economy is worth trillions world over and worth billions in Nigeria, so who benefits?

Your state governors are extremely corrupt! Hold them just as responsible for the gross underdevelopment in Nigeria.

I mean the exact IGRs from such water channels. Not just transportation. Fishing and other subsectors.

I'd like anyone to point me in the direction of a IGR breakdown from the blue sector in Lagos State, or any of the states I mentioned. I searched and analysed for a few years before making my claims.

Thanks to states largely not acceding o the Freedom of Information Act in 2010, they don't have to publicize such information and would rebuff your inquest - the perfect cover for the financial Houdinis.

That's what they'd have you believe - underplay the revenue. I used to believe that until I began digging from early 2018.

Let's start with fishing trawlers and other activities right on the ocean and water ways.

I once stated something related to the below somewhere on Nairaland:

The Akwa Ibom - Rivers axis has some of the highest concentration of sharks in West Africa. The Oron - Ibeno axis being the highest. Sharks are fished everyday in these areas.

A single shark fin is worth thousands of dollars and there are fishing companies in these waters focusing solely on sharks. Please google the price of shark fins.
That's just the fins and just sharks. Then go into other types of fishing.

Take a step back to check ship trading routes and who controls them since the FG and states control this area too.

I could go on and on. Since these incomes are largely undeclared, the masses think these areas have little importance.
These do not reflect in state governments IGRs. I look out for such small details.

Yes, I had to be at some of these places to see things for myself.
