He's a tribalist yet he was put in prison for supporting Easterners during the Civil war?
people do change, due to circumstances or ideological shifts, after all he has the right to be a tribalist, having witnessed many years of misrule of Nigeria by greedy and selfish political elites, why must he continue to be patriotic when the nation had not in any reason made him to be proud as a citizen of Nigeria ?
Perhaps he painfully realized that the Nigeria project is a failed one, and decided to go back to his root and become a subtle tribalist, because the Soyinka that we used to know takes no shits from the previous administrations, or from anybody.
Pls allow him to enjoy his retirement in peace, he has honourably paid his dues, and handed over the baton of struggle for good governance, to the present youths of Nigeria.
No man fights for ever .

Wole shoyinka has always say what he feels that is right, He attack and support Obj in different areas. so also Buhari and even Jonathan, if he see any wrong doing in Tinubu's goverment, he will surely say it is asked.

Don't you want Biafra to go

Do you Igbos genuinely want Biafra? Nothing at all, in your actions, very different to your duplicitous and deceitful noise, say you do.

For example, just show me one secessionist group where those vocal about wanting their own nation are living, in many millions, in the land of those they claim they want to secede from.

Aside from you Igbos being generally aberrant, even your push for secession is an aberrant, hypocritical and ridiculous anomaly, compared to secession agitations worldwide.

What you Igbos are doing, that runs contrary to the undisputed characteristic behaviour of those sincere about secession, just disgraces you lot as unreasonable, unserious, childish and duplicitous.

To those who are well-read, it is crystal clear Igbo people's vocal push for Biafra is very insincere because the universally-consistent actions and behaviour of a people serious about secession is lacking in the on-ground behaviour of Igbos.

North Korea, for example, feel they must remain an insular nation, with select group of 'like-minded' nations as allies because their views about life is very different to that of the West and USA in particular. How many North Koreans do you see in the USA?

You Igbos similarly claim you cannot and should not be in a nation with Yorubas and Northerners. Yet where are you to be found in millions raising generations after generations happily?

You guys are irredeemable hypocrits and what is tragic is that all Nigerians are beginning to see you for what you really are.

Nigeria is one of the easiest countries to fix if there's political will.

Restructuring, true federalism and decentralisation.

It's simple as that but politicians are enjoying present looting, nepotism hiding in/under Abuja.

Exactly! true federalism, decentralization is what a country with multi ethnic group needs. This will breed serious competition among the ethnic nations to grow and develop.

That's not true. Nigeria is hard to govern because we don't have an ideology. In fact, the North and South shouldn't even be in one country because their views about life differ. A people are easier to manage if they share the same ideals. It's easier to criticise if you are on the outside.

However, I think most politicians come to fix the problem. When they see enormous problems they are expected to fix, they become overwhelmed. Jonathan developed grey hair few days in Aso Rock and Buhari said he nearly ran away.

We have not had any sensible person fit to be president. When the job is given to who is qualified it becomes easy and things will fall into place.
For a very long the people ruling us have no business with that position

Exactly! Look at Tinubu who has always said this same thing about true federalism, he is now in power and does not talk about it anymore grin

Like I always say, black people hate them selves more than even whites racist do to them. That is why u rarely would find a black leader who is willing to give up the wealth, the power, the influence they get from falty political system to give way for a better one.
U can imagine, we have a very useless system of govt. The current system supports that a region can give birth to any number of population, no wahala, there is centalized money that the FG sends to all states to take care of these population.
when that system ends, states and regions will be careful on how they breed kids, on how they make appoitments, on how they waste funds becus u have to work to earn a dime as a state/region.
The current system, even if u dont work, u will surely get money from the centralized fund grin

A very uselss political system that can never ever work is what we have been killing our selves for over 60 years. Yes, no basic stuff like electricity.
Multi ethnic nations dont run centralized system like this. It has never worked anywhere in this world. Decentralize Nigeria, it is too large to be centralized in Abuja.
Omo, blacks are simply curse upon this earth. We no get one sense.

Its unfortunate to say that Prof Wole has lost the respect many of us the young ones accorded to him…He roared so hard against the wish of every well meaning Nigerian through his many tribalistic and hateful comments in the guise to elevate his support for Tinubu now this is where we are with Tinubus Government acting so confused same way Buhari was confused for 8 years. As a younger person just add another wasteful 8 yrs to your age and see what it is just after surviving Buharis time as for Prof Wole he has lived his life already, achieved alot and have nothing to loose hence the reason he lost my respect because he seems not to care about the current and generation yet unborn in Nigeria. He should have added his voice to the voice of Nigerian youths who in mass saw future in Labour Party but no he rather supported a dead structure, a structure of stagnation and impoverishment and now he has suddenly lost his vocal prowess.

I respect my elders so much but on this one Prof Soyinka I leave you to posterity and may it be fair on you.

Then, the Niger Delta states are the biggest losers. They feed the entire country and get nothing in return. If the resources of oil producing regions are left for them alone, they will be as rich as Qatar if properly managed. Oil-producing states are the reason Nigeria cannot be restructured because the fear is that they will be more powerful than the centre and that may lead to secession.

Good you highlighted "if properly managed".

What have their governors done with the excess revenue they have hard?

What about the militants? They got the bogus settlements from the amnesty programs and the claim of fighting for their land evaporated.

It amazes me how people shout for separation, state police and all that when they have not even been able to hold councillors in their wards accountable.

Maybe they will import new leaders for their region.

These will not still work.

All we need to fix Nigeria is attitudinal change.
It's not easy to change attitude of multiethnic, multi religion people with deadly and untrustworthy politicians. What we need is structural changes which republican constitution of 1963 already settled. We need to go back to this constitution and build stronger institutions.

Your narration that Ireti is the sole labour party senator in the Senate shows that you are too ignorant to be writing politics.
Anambra state has two labour party senators, Enugu two, Abia one and few others.
This is too dumb to be an error.
