The only thing I'm happy about is the fact that nobody has a monopoly on online abuse.

Because Yorubas are sophisticated, well trained, cultured and always an omoluabi, you'd think they don't have mouth and only one set of people can abuse and drag and chestbeat etc.

The last election really changed the script, Peter Obi really buy market for some people.

Now, violence is being served in various forms, not with lies and empty chest beating, but with verifiable facts that even me I'm surprised.

So omoluabis, una be Tigers. Una don vex kpatakpata.

Yorubaland would have been like London, Dubai and likes had it been the Igbos didn't kill regional government.. today their offsprings are using brown roofs to mock our cities not minding the facts that their parents out of greed destroyed prosperity of the regions in Nigeria.

Whites would have been coming to Yorubaland for vacation if not for lack of foresight of people like Ironsi.

People have conveniently ignored the most imorant part of the write up "three big, traditionally hostile regions"

Even they could see that the unity of Nigeria was a disaster waiting to happen, time has since proved them right

Lol. It's the British that lumped us together, and thumbs down to Azikiwe for ensuring the union remains un-dividable atleast for the last few decades.
It was even Aguiyi Ironsi that abolished regional system of government in Nigeria.
Quite an irony that his people are the ones crying fowl today about being binded with Nigeria

You mean when Gowon was abolishing the 4 Regions Nigeria had and embarked on State creation with Decree 14? Or when he removed resource control with decree 15?

Bow come you guys still dont know it was Gowon who abolished the Regions? Or is Gowon an Igbo man?

Awolowo saw that it was an experiment that was bound to fail. The man was truly more advanced than his peers. He pleaded for secession clause to be added to the constitution and Ahmadu Bello backed him. Well, Azikiwe messed it up.

Truth be told, I am closer to a Niger republic or Chad person that any tribe from Southern Nigerian. A Western Nigerian is closer to Beninoise, Togolese, Ghanaian e.t.c. than an Igbo or Efik person. An Igbo man is closer to a camerounian than the western or northern Nigerian person. We can go on and on. Well, it is what it is.

Controversial Unification Decree No. 34 was Ironsi's brainchild.Ironsi declared all Nigerians want an end to regionalism.

We all know he meant Igbos not Nigerians. His advisory committee was made up of his kinsmen. He replaced the attorney general with his kinsman too.

Immediately after the speech two Governors kicked against the proposal to break rid the regional system. They were, Major General David Akpode Ejoor from Ovu in the present Delta State, then serving as the Military Governor of the Mid-Western region and Major General Hassan Usman Katsina, who was then serving as Governor of the Northern region.

Lt. Col. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu , Military Governor of Eastern Region welcomed the decree while Lt. Col. Francis Adekunle Fajuyi, Military Governor of Western Region never commented on the promulgation of the decree.

A good book to read will be Tamuno's book: Separatists agitation in Nigeria since 1914 (published in 1970) - It can be easily downloaded on the internet. Then also Awolowo and Zik's autobiography.

The eastern Region projected to catch up with western region by 1970 it accepted it was below western region

There is no shame in starting late
Even in the eastern Region ijaws and efik started before others

Never truly accepted the white man till the 1920s ... We are not ashamed of it

Some few Igbo society have had advanced history but not the whole Igbo land

But we are not ashamed of starting late

Today Igbo are at least as educated as yorubas if not more educated

If you think this is an insult then try again

I am a Yoruba and a reasonable Yoruba man will agree with all you said. Honestly, we Yorubas are retrogressing in every ramifications.

Back then up till early 2000s, if ten students scored A parallel in WAEC you will be sure 9 would be Yorubas but now it's history. If such happened now, one is sure at least 6 will be Igbos and a Yoruba will manage to secure one spot on the list.

Igbos are no longer what they used to be. The have evolved exponentially and they are really succeeding in pushing Yorubas to the back. I don't know what the cause is.

We Yorubas seem to be losing it on the altar of politics while abandoning what really matters. Igbos have held on tightly to what they are know for-trade while breaking new grounds. Yorubas are losing it all on the altar of dragging political positions.

Yorubas need reorientation now before it's too late

Remove lagos because Lagos is located in the North Lol
Have you ever been to SW in the first place? Do you know that the entire Easter region is thesame size as OYO state?
Thats a free info for you. Thanks but no thanks.

SSFeedsNigeria:
Wow, Igbos were said to be the most astute and most industries then and they’re even more today!

Unlike Yorubas that have deteriorated badly. Back then, Lagos and Ibadan gave them some clouts due to earlier contact with Europeans. Today, touts and agberos now control their affairs. Remove Lagos and you will have a dead region in your hands. Ritual killings is now the order of the day.

You guys that love to report third party talk rather than reading Decree 34 its self, which was nothing more than a civil service decree. For your information, Ironsi did not tamper with Regional rule, what he tampered with was democracy. All 4 Regions existed under Ironsi with resource control, and had indigenous Military Governors.

The person who destroyed Regional rule was Gowon who abolished all 4 Regions and replaced them with 12 states, using decree 14. He then put a nail in the coffin of Regionalism with decree 15, that stopped resource control. Gowons decree 14 & 15 are all over the internet but you can cure your ignorance by reading it below

Thats a very valid point as early as that age. Traditionally hostile region is a very bad term for a country that is amalgamated and expected to be prosperous, we are not similar in anyway. Its like putting A Goat, a Lion and a fish in the same container and you expect prosperity

Aguiyi ironsi promulgated the decree that killed regional system of government in Nigeria.. I know my history too well.

Brilliant Gowon created States and geopolitical zones to undo the evil of Ironsi.

Ironsi probably felt he would fill the Federal Civil Service with 100% Igbos and his kinsmen would be in total control of all region's resources in Nigeria, unknown to him that a Northern counter coup would kill him.
