FreeStuffsNG:What do the yorubas produce to have made them the richest tribe? Nothing of great note–just politics, oil from the south south, and fraud through religion, cybercrime, e.tc. You have only benefited unfairly on the back of others. Before independence, it was through the slave trade, which you involved heavily(due to the slave ports in your land). And through religion during colonialism. Post colonialism, aside entertainment that I can give kudos to you, the wealth of the Yoruba are through the criminality of the Nigerian state which you are taking advantage of. |

| Re: A 1963 Times Magazine Post About The Tribes And Former Three Regions Of Nigeria by 2elliot: 9:35pm On Dec 12, 2023 |
chopnaira:It was Awolowo who was selfish and wanted power in the south because he saw the north as uneducated. Zik was a kind man who wanted the north to feel belong and not left out. |

Ibrahimcoomasie:This Ironsi is a tribal bigot too. Thanks for this post. Ibo soldiers majorly planned the coup. Ibos in power escaped or where out of the country when the coup happened; hence, their lives were spared. Ibo man (Ironsi) became the beneficiary of the coup. He selected 3 advisers to determine the fate of the nation and he chose all Ibo (Francis Nwokedi, Dr. Pius Charles Nwabafor Okigbo and Colonel Patrick Anwunah). He also got an Ibo man to draft the decree (Ben Akabueze). He also made an Ibo man the attorney general. He continued the Ibo agenda that Azikiwe always dreamed of. All that in a few weeks of holding power.

Godfullsam:Zik was selfless and he wanted the north to feel belonged, unlike Awolowo who was parochial and selfish. Zik did what he did in order to help the north integrated with the south and not feel left out. |

2elliot:The North never asked for Azikiwe's help. Infact, the North disliked the Igbos. Azikiwe was just a means to an end for the Northern cabal. He got played. Lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_odAy4rVz8?si=__aJduVM7i7UMBnu |

2elliot:Just go and study to find out. Before the turn of last century and before Nigeria gained Independence, the Yoruba already have primary schools, secondary schools, university, polytechnics, colleges of Education, university teaching hospital, highly educated skilled human resource , literary, film & entertainment industry, administrative bureaucracy, traditional institutions, train networks, ship harbours, industrial & housing estates, commercial agricultural plantations, motorable roads, and immediately at independence built Africa 's first stadium, Tv station, skyscraper etc in the Western region of the Yoruba then if you still don't know then you are either being mischievous or ignorant to ask how the Yoruba got ahead of you till today. Here's how Yoruba high society wedding is organised in the 1920s https://www.premiumtimesng.com/opinion/613824-lagos-high-society-weddings-of-the-1920s-by-tayo-agunbiade.html Those families are still alive till date. I am sure you are one of those who heard Cardoso and started wondering. Read that article and you'll see how educated and successful the Yoruba of as far back as 1920s have always been. Stop denigrating the success of the Yoruba because they were ahead of your tribe. The Yoruba went through a lot to get that head start. Many returned home from the new world they were forcefully shipped to to build Yoruba land because they love the land, their culture, language and those Yoruba who stayed back in the new world kept their Yoruba roots by still practicing their Yoruba religion till date.
