Bliss62: Electric buses without electricity? Focus should be on taking Lagos off national grid and providing regular electricity for all Lagosians first. Sanitation… better waste management across the state from recycling to how we manage landfills, incinerations, etc. Sewers should never be dumped in water but in sewer treatment plants where they are processed and turned into clean water, which are then released back into sea. We can also provide fertiliser off it and sell to farmers. No more human burials in properties. All dead should have designated graves or cremations. What happens if the property needs be resold? Better road plans, with proper drainage system. Footbridge, traffic lights, with properly trained traffic enforcement officers. A family friend was recently killed by a Danfo driver in a totally avoidable situation. Traffic violators who drink drive, drive dangerously or drive cars with poor roadworthiness should be swiftly punished. Street lights powered by solar across the whole state with CCTVs. Criminals can be swiftly apprehended and well lit roads everywhere at night. Private properties should be encouraged to have CCTV cameras too. I must commend the metro line and yes, we need more because it’s greener and will take pressure off road, but 4th Mainland Bridge can wait. 5 Likes |

Doesn't really matter which state it is - Lagos, Rivers, Kano, Enugu - they're all the same. So, keep your tribalism to yourself. My village is more capable of sustaining a well-adjusted, peaceful, serene human existence than your slum, pile of waste Lagos. Gajagojo: 2 Likes |

KingLennon:The probIem with most of u is that we are talking about the bigger picture, u are talking about this góvèrñment. What about in the previous government? What about the government before the previous one? My statement was the government is NOT doing very well, every Government at every level, down to the local government where people who are part of the masses come to office every 3 years, what positive impact have they made? They will compIain, get in power, do wórsé, get out of power and start complaining. That's the life of the average Nigerian. CompIain because they don't have opportunity to do same 5 Likes |

Bliss62: Thanks but this is how I see it. Say u empower Lagosians with cheaper and constant power, security, clean streets with better traffic, etc, They will get richer, you would attract people with big capital, including capital from Nigerians in diaspora to come invest. Once they start to invest, your revenue as a state will grow, so $1billion in year 1 will be $2 billion in year 2 and so on. There is huge capital flowing across the world and there are keen investors. Nigerians overseas that have done well. They are used to certain level of standard basic amenities, and won’t lower their standards just to come invest in a harsh environment. Once the governor starts making those structural changes, next few years’ budget could be in excess of $5-10 billion through taxation of booming commerce and investment. Say you inform a waste treatment and recycling company from Norway or Canada to come invest, you don’t have to commit huge investment in year 1. All you do is give these companies a clear pathway to how they will get their investment back. If they are convinced, they will invest. I will say to the company, hey, we already have a council tax rate in Lagos, for every N100 we generate from every household, you get a steady stream of N5. Once their investments is fully paid, then they start making profits. They start selling recycled metal, plastics, fertilisers, etc back to other industries, etc. After year 4, you might even start taxing them. |

Why is it difficult - the best approach should be for the Educational Board to use the Students AGP- from the Results of Students, with the School Stamped ! Bluntemperor:There is a proper way of documenting those stuff. You cant get paid without verifiable evidence. The problem are the governors that feel its a project meant for indigene and not project to promote their ego. So they tend to undermine the student and some people has make the student union become factional union. |
