Yakubu has a good work rate and he found himself in a league that suits his playing style

Put oshimen in this current arsenal team and watch him rain in goals

They got to the 2002 AFCON final and got undone by very corrupt officiating against Cameroon in that infamous PK shoot-out...my point is those 1994-2002 guys always knew how to stand tall and deliver in big moments when we needed them, the only problem with that generation was that they were too individually skilled to the detriment of playing as a TEAM, and most of the players were full of ego. The 2006 ouster against Angola was one of those upsets that happen in football.

Right now, can you point out one single player from this team who can produce a moment of magic when the chips are down?
2000 not 2002 Afcon final

Osimhen just need this Afcon to tell us he is better than Thompson Usiyen and Rashidi Yekini cuz I rated the duo highly.

At the bolded some player failed to qualify us for world cup in Qatar, should we discard them?

I will take npfl star over Dennis Emmanuel... Oboabona was picked from the Npfl then likewise Mba... I can tell you the quality in the league now is better than then

Quality better than before and the clubs still not fairing well in CAF competitions?

Comparing they missing out on CHAN to super eagles not qualifying for the world cup shows mischief. chan should be compared to afcon.

Players that qualified nigeria for afcon should play the afcon while those that will qualify Nigeria for CHAN should play the CHAN

Osimhen lacks that elite mentality to win us key games or even carry us in the AFCON like the likes of JayJay, Oliseh, Aghahowa etc did in the 2002 AFCON. I know most of us hate to hear this truth, but Osimhen isn't THAT GUY, no player on this current team has that world class cutting edge ability to carry and lead this present crop of SE players.
your comment does not surprise me one bit. Weren't you the one that called osimhen a one season wonder sometime this season? You no kukuma rate am before so no surprise there.

Hmmm, my brother. I said this before the CAF awards. He won and I was happy for him as a Nigerian but I know Osimhen can't do much for the SE. He may be a king in Naples but in my books, unless he does well for his country, his royalty amounts to nothing

I still rate Yekini above him

Oya, Osimhen online extended family, come and insult me with words I haven't heard before

grin grin grin grin
I will quote from the words of the commentator in AFCON 2013 Nig vs CIV. He said. " Once Mikel plays, Nigeria plays."
Our MF was the engine of that team. And I'll say d same thing. Once our MF plays Osihmen will play. You can take it to d bank. All he needs are just half chances.

😂😂😂 you nor know ball at all.

Most of Oshimen goals last season where made from nothing. Yakubu is not a better finisher than Oshimen. If u mention Iheancho I will hear you but when it comes to work rate Oshimen trump kelechi

Ebon, once it comes to finishing, NO one in our national team in recent times comes close to Yak

He was a very sublime fiisher

That is why I said in an earlier post that if Napoli with a far better midfield than ours struggles to create chances for Osimhen, what do you think will come out of the SE

Osimhen will look like a local league player because of our poor midfield

Don't expect much from him in tis coming AFCON

He will kill his career in that Napoli team

He would have fared better in Barca, Arsenal por even PSG sef

I pity the guy

The hype entered his brain too much and he will play the consequences

Somebody should talk to peseiro about our midfield and he should please listen. A 3 man midfield would work. Just put Raphael onyedica behind iwobi and ndidi and we will create chances. Ndidi is now a more creative player.

It was in 2000. Nigeria - Ghana 2000. A year after Nigeria 99. Aghahowa went from Nigeria 99 WYC to the Afcon.

Guys, what actually constitutes competitive matches in international football? An article just came out claiming adeyemi of Dortmund is still eligible for us despite him already playing 3 wc qualifiers and 1 nations league match. This is the link https://soccernet.ng/2023/12/karim-adeyemis-eligibility-for-super-eagles-can-the-dortmund-star-still-play-for-nigeria.html. is it a case of wrong interpretation or there is actually a case here.

You underestimate Napoli sha... Their president will try any means to stop him from coming.

Napoli can't play the Covid card this time around. Again, if ADL is smart, he should know that Osimhen going to the AFCON, albeit a gamble, could pay off for him. Napoli is shit this season. Going to the AFCON and putting up a monstrous display would help keep Osimhen's market value stable and convince clubs to trigger the release clause in his contract. IMO, winning the APOTY won't be enough.

Yes we don't

In fact, his inclusion won't add anything to a team without tactics and a poor midfield

You guys are complaining about Napoli and how they didn't sign any new person. Now imagine the SE which is a far cry in quality from the Napoli side

My problem with you folks is that you don't like to accept the truth. The SE can't give what they don't have

Me I predicted a second round exit and I stand by my prediction
.

The fact is perceptibility differs. Yea you may be write or wrong but what scares me at d coming AFCON IS UZOHORROR AND JPAJERO who like Eguavoen has no plan B.

Nonetheless you are a bit cynical. The present SE has a RELATIVE depth if they can be properly harnessed but then again, NO COACH.

Sarcasm or no sarcasm the truth has to be said. We just don't have elite players, just "decent enough" players to get us by every now and again. Don't expect too much from this AFCON with this team if I were you

Was not born in 1994 but senior broda said okoroahusa(okocha) was one of the players who made Nigeria lost against Italy when he failed to heed instructions of CW by not kicking the ball away 15mins to the end of the game as agreed in the dugout after Nigeria took d lead.

I am not trying to be blasphemous nor downplay Jayjay’s achievement but claiming some players are not elite enough in this present SE is a no no for me and my household 😂😂

This had been the case even in the most important game he played against Ghana. His presence was just here and there that wasn't productive. Look who even had the balls to play the penalty we had against Ghana. It was ekong. That's why I perfectly feel Ekong should be in that final team list to ivory coast. His effort has been decent. And his loyalty is incontestable. For Osimhen, he can quickly look at players like Lewandoski in the Polish team and start from there. But then lewy is not osimhen's role model, but Dider Drogba. Sadly the Chelsea legend is not a technical player but one who played on raw energy. Drogba never won the AFCON. The earlier Osimhen readjust his mind to very high technical role models like Lewy or even another better African in Samuel Eto. Eto's Cameroun was a nightmare for me as a kid back in the 2000s. And I can not forget the joy of the 2004 when we eliminated them.
