I'm late January too.
I'm tired lately and hoping baby comes early.
I'm packing my things and realized my manual breast pump is not good anymore, coupled with outstanding things to buy.

Also experienced this. Was on complete bedrest for more than a month. Didn't do any house chores or anything else. Didn't go to work, market or Church. Just always lying down (that was what the doctor prescribed). I was also placed on duphaston till I entered second trimester.

Thank you for the suggestion. We actually went to the hospital but we were told that's just a sign that the labour will soon start. We were asked to go home.

I understand how you are feeling, as just praying to God for strength to overcome this stage for you guys. My Woman is also going through this and is scaring.

Anyone with a better way to manage this should speak up please. sad
Merry Christmas.

I was administered 4 destro saline drips and a couple of injections over two days due to dehydration as a result of intense vomiting without eating. My husband insisted on this because he read that I was suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum. It is not a common occurrence in pregnant women so please do well to ensure your wife exhibits symptoms that points to HG before seeking medication. Here is a detailed information about it. You can also refer to this article on HG.

Need I remind you that the injections and drip will wear off after 1 or 2 days so what this means is that you need something that will help suppress vomiting as you can't be on drip and injection always. Before taking me to hospital, my husband searched a lot on nairaland for Hyperemesis Gravidarum and got instances of pregnant women who in the past had this situation and the medications they used. The one which interested him was where a lady said she used Doxylamine Succinate and Vitamin B6 which worked well for her. He decided to get that drug from the pharmacy but it looked like it is scarce in Nigeria. He was offered Meclozine in one of his pharmacy tour which surprisingly works well for me. It is a drug that helps with nausea and vomiting.

Please note that body system differs so there is no 100% guarantee that the drug will work for everyone but you can try. From further research, Meclozine is safe for use during pregnancy. I will advise you check with your wife's doctor or a medical practitioner about the medications she takes and what led her to take them so as to avoid complications with her pregnancy.

As against the pharmacist prescription of twice daily, I use it only once a day after my early morning vomiting and it works well for me throughout the day. I take pap before using the medicine. Vomiting after usage is minimal plus I can now eat a little unlike before, which to me is a huge improvement. If the information matters, I'm approaching my 11th week.

PS: I had to write this in detail for proper documentation. My husband found much information on nairaland while trying to help me. I'm hoping this will help someone in the future as well.

Thank You So Much my sister.

She was admitted twice, it's one of her Doctors she has worked with that handle her, at a point I was just confused, she was begging that we shouldn't allow her to die like this, I can't type all we went through I think it's same thing you both experience. But thank she is also better now and doing fine.

Merry Christmas, a prosperous new year and smooth months ahead.

Hi everyone, will be having my first child with my wife. Her EDD is 25th January.
Since this is our first, I don't know how much to budget. Paid 20,600 at the General Hospital for tests and delivery items (cheaper than I imagined).
I've bought other stuffs like clothes, bath set, cloth hanger, wardrobe etc but I don't know how much for the delivery (vaginal or cs), I would like to transfer the money to my wife's account or her sis because I might not be around during labor due to the nature of my job.
Who has an idea how much General Hospital charge for normal delivery and CS respectively. Thank you.

Depends on your state. Down here,as of last year CS was 40k,don't know bout this year sha and vaginal was around 20k plus(north). It might differ but just keep like 100k for her, anything that remains she can use it for miscellaneous.

Happy New year to my dear Mamas and Papas. Here are few preggo New year resolutions for you all.
- Induction because you are past EDD,especially before EDD or because of the baby size are not a medical emergencies or necessary. Say No if you don't want it.
- Yes, you can say NO to cervical checks.
it is not necessary, especially if it is more than once or twice especially during labour.
- No need to rush to hospital, labour at home.
- Your due date is an estimation, the most important thing is to prepare. Fill your time with positive and fun things.

BA and BS

My princess came at 10.53pm last night weighing 2.6kg, EDD 21.01.24
I went for my antenatal appointment yesterday and I complained that I have seen water thrice not knowing that I ought to have rushed to the hospital since the first day I saw it last week.
I was scheduled to be induced in the evening as I begged to go to the office to take permission and do a proper handover.
I got to the hospital by past 5 as against the 4 PM appointment time.
I was given misoprostol under my tongue to enable contraction. The doctor examined me and realized there was no water, membrane was gone and I was 5cm dilated.
I was given antibiotics that made me vomit since I had lost water for over a week and risked chorioamnionitis.
I started having contractions in about an hours time. I ate and was chatting to eliminate fear while having contractions of 8 minutes apart.
I was later moved to delivery ward when I felt like excreting.
The contraction was so painful. I was administered oxytocin to enable the cervix dilate as it was still hard and I have only gotten to 6cm.
By past 10, I had to hold my buttocks when the contraction hits to restrict myself from pushing because I wasn't up to 10cm.
The nurse then asked me to open my legs and saw that the head had crowned. She then said the next contraction, I should push.
I made sure to listen to my body and when it hit, I pushed as instructed and she came out with no tear. I later delivered placenta.
I wish all mamas still waddling a safe and stress free delivery. I also use myself as a point of contact for TTC women that they too shall bear their young.

Spotting and bleeding are not exactly the same.

[Some] fertility specialists will advise you take 4 tablets (10mg) of duphaston at once. Then 2 tablets daily subsequently with total bed rest. 90% of the time, the bleeding will cease.

You should be talking to a specialist.
