When I spoke about protesting, it was still some here who said that we shouldn't protest. That protesting in Nigeria is meaningless and risky. Okay ooo.

Most of the companies involved are really big companies that have smart & experienced financial analysts , accountants and auditors in their employment . They also have standard legal departments and have big law firms on their books .

Dem go don clean up the house tey tey. Whatever EFCC will come up with eventually at the end of their investigation may not amount to much as far as indictment is concerned in the long run .

Who go see mugu and no go chop am ? Shebi dem see Buhari and his Cabinet like that and dem use their head.

But las las, as much as we may want to canonize Yar Adua for the few years he spent at the helms of affairs in this country & things were going smoothly; the truth must be told. If Yar Adua had not reversed the sale of the moribund refinery to Dangote & Otedola backed Consortium that year, we would not be in this position now.

We would by now have at least one working refinery run by the private sector and nobody will be talking about any round tripping of dollars resulting from Emefiele making dollars available to Dangote Refinery at official rate.

True. One can even guess that Pres. Yar'Adua was pressure by powerful people to reverse the sale, since the refineries present probably their biggest avenue to loot the Country without fear of probe. NNPC doing turnaround maintainance on our refineries for years without any end result can be considered the biggest scam ever, we wait to see if Tinubu Presidency will finally get the refineries working again....

Maybe there were powerful hands behind the scene pulling the strings, u never can tell. But the Labour unions and the media kicked against the sale & they were very vocal about it.

The real question is, even if the refineries are eventually turned around successfully can they compete with refineries built from scratch with new modern technology? If the MD of shell as at early 2000's advised Obasanjo to do away with the refineries, does it not suggest that some of the technologies put to use in those refineries are almost obsolete?

For Nigeria it is the corruption associated with subsidy that is the problem not subsidy itself.

What a wonderful country called Nigeria. The Police and the army do not have enough ammunition but the fulani herdsmen have enough sophisticated weapons.

Of course labour unions kicked agaisnt selling the refineries

in addition to being a conduit for wasting money, the refinereies are a waste of wages.

people literally do nothing in kaduna refinery year in year out and get paid salary

https://ibekachikwu.com/nigerias-nnpc-publishes-financial-statement-for-2018/

The National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS) was the group’s most profitable division for the financial year. It generated a revenue of N5.04 trillion with a profit of N1.01 trillion. The total assets managed by the management service is N18.6 trillion, with components of oil and gas valued at N14.2 trillion.

The refinery in Kaduna recorded zero revenue in 2018 and together with the other two refineries in the nation, the Warri and the Port Harcourt refineries, had a combined loss of N154 billion.
as an aside looks like kachikwu picked a page from obj aand iweala and created his own narrative for future discussions on him

i think yarduas issue is that he was like buhari - someone fixated on government running businesses

If Northerners never ready to join the protest, the government will still find way to bring it under control.

If any revolution will succeed in this country, it must start in the north.

My reason for saying this is very simple; the southerners can easily be divided by the government along tribal lines, religious lines, cultural lines and so many other lines u can think of. The northerners are much more homogenous in their culture; once they band together to take a course of action they are mostly indivisible.

I may be wrong tho, but that is what I think

I remember that time they pointed it out that how can they be paying salary to staff of a company that doesn't produce anything & running at a loss; the excuse was that if they don't keep the staff of the payroll the whole equipment in the plants will go to rot. They claimed the staff need to remain to maintain the equipment.

I think u are right about Yar Adua, he's more of a Buhari type of person. They hold socialism so close to their chest

NNPCL said they are installing state of the art equipment at the Port Harcourt Refinery, so we wait to see whether it is the usual lamba or not. I doubt the old refineries can compete with Dangote and Bua's bigger and more modern Refineries though. If Tinubu's Govt (miraculously) succeed in getting the 4 Nigerian Refineries to work, i would advise that the Refineries focus on refining PMS/DPK/AGO/Aviation Fuel/CNG for the Nigerian local market, while Dangote, Bua and others refineries can focus on exporting their product to bring in Forex.

U think Dangote will bring in Forex for this country ? He will most likely be looking at spreading his tentacles to more economically stable countries na.
