Suspected bandits reportedly killed a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member identified as Obaje Saidu.

One Asta Matthew, who disclosed this in a Facebook post on Sunday, January 7, 2024, said the incident happened when the Nasarawa State University, Keffi graduate, was travelling back to Katsina State for his monthly clearance.

“The major problem of Nigeria is lack of Insecurity. Obaje Saidu was killed by bandits on his way back to Katsina for his monthly clearance. I remember how hard you worked for your relocation back to Kaduna but NYSC denied you, my dearest friend, Excess it feels hurt to say goodbye Mr. Marcho Batch B1, we made our platoon the best in camp history was made with you. Rest in Peace Legend, your killers will never find peace. Adieu,” she wrote.

This is extremely pathetic and painful.
I've always said that NYSC is already a useless scheme and should be scrapped (or rehabilitated) but powers that be won't do that because they LOOT money from it.

NYSC is extremely unsafe nowadays. From kidnappings to banditry to rape and the government has refused to address the growing insecurity in the country. Very sad.

May the young man's soul rest in peace.

With this high rate of insecurity I guess it's the right time to suspend this NYSC madness

The best thing for everyone in this country is simple. Since govt aren't doing anything on this bandit issue. Avoid traveling completely.

If you state of residence doesn't have a connecting flight to your state of destination, don't travel. If it has, use flight. If you can't afford flight, what ever you are traveling there to do might be done through proxy.

Life is just once and the pain you will put your loved ones into might be hard to forget.

Nigeria is gone to the dogs, everyone need to protect himself.

This life is uncertain tomorrow is not promised, criminal elements in every corners of our dear country make it to be more uncertain. What a bad way to start 2024. May the family he left behind be comforted..

What a painful loss to the family. After going through this tough and rough time to train a child and just loose him this way is disheartening.
