Between January 2019 and June 2020, bank accounts used by Lawal and his co-conspirators to launder money on behalf of the criminal organization received millions of dollars traced directly to individuals and businesses defrauded over the internet by members of the criminal organization.

Accounts Lawal controlled received over $3.6 million in deposits between January 2019 and May 2020. Those deposits were spread across seven different bank accounts Lawal opened in his own name or the name of his business entity, Luxe Logistics LLC. Ultimately, Lawal controlled bank accounts at no less than five different financial institutions in furtherance of his money laundering.
~~~~~~~~
My take on this issue:
Just $3.6 million in total was deposited in this dude's 7 bank accounts from January 2019 to May 2020 after scamming elderly folks.
It must be emphasized here that the Russian and other East European hackers carry out far more sophisticated and deadlier frauds running into millions of USD than the low-budget email scams that these guys (The Nigerian and his American accomplices) are accused of.
Any transaction on the internet can be traced. Even crypto currency wallets now require KYC for validation. No matter the length of time it took, it's still just a matter of time to be caught and prosecuted. So, why do it if it has no worth?
You never hear of "fulls" And money mules? It's not that easy bro.
Sounds like good news to me, quit tarnishing our reputation, this makes it hard for some of us to do business overseas once the name "Nigerian" is mentioned.
Indeed, but he had also had American-born criminal accomplices as well in the crime. Read a part of the full article below again:
On Aug. 10, 2023, Lawal was convicted by a federal jury of conspiring to commit money laundering. Three co-conspirators, Michael Hermann, Rita Assane, and Dwight Baines, previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering.
I wonder how these guys that pull these stuff will assume they would never be arrested.
It's just a matter of time.
Now this stupid boy will spend no less than 5-7 yrs ... then deported back to Nigeria with nothing to fall back on
They never think! Thesedays any transaction can be traced it doesn't matter how one tries to hide or forge anything, everything can be traced. There are a huge team of investigators paid huges amount of money to do these jobs allday all week and all month, night and day.
