Exactly. He/she made it look like the women are successful as a result of an unfair advantage being afforded them by the Lagos state government for being Yorubas. grin Frankly speaking and at this rate, it is safe to say that low self esteem has really eaten up these easterners because why would a sane person try to play down other people’s achievements, making it look like they never merited it?
That was the same way they started downplaying the achievements of Funke Akindele after she crossed the N1B in cinema sales.

Tell me how last election issue produced the below:

—Grammy for Sade Adu and Tems
—7 of the top 9 women CEO for banks
— Nearly 80% of women dominating the fintech industry
—Back to back highest Nollywood gross movies of all time
—Topmost female artist in Africa
—Richest woman in Africa at one point.

And they rule the whole China and South America. Yoruba women are dominating India and North Korea banking sector. The newest appointment is a Yoruba w from oshogbo who was recently appointed by Iranian government to head their Apex bank. Yoruba women are the greatest. Up omo odua

Lol 😂.

Yoruba women are in another league tho.

It’s just like premier league and divison 1. Ya’ll can compare yourself within your league while Yoruba women play the master league.

If not for Nairaland gagging us. I usually know the perfect response for people like you.
I'm enjoying your response, Yoruba l'àgbà.

Ok, another example right here. That is because I’m mostly unbiased in my view of things, unlike you that is always looking at everything from a Yoruba angle. Lol
No sweetie, you actually worded your statement in such a way that would look like you were supporting the Yoruba women and urging others to leave and go develop their lands forgetting that the people you were engaging are far more intelligent than your entire generation. When I saw the comment, I immediately saw through your ill-thought-out deception and knew it must be coming from one of the children of hate and perdition. Werey is now claiming Niger Delta. Try again darling grin

Bunch of slow-pokes that have no innovations, only to steal from the masses, that's what Nigerian banks know.

Banks in the rest of developed worlds, have mobile check deposited, tap ATM card. Where all you need is to tap on the pay pad and it transacts, ATM cash deposited, drive through, where you be in your car and make banks transactions at various branches, financing options for houses, cars, and big buys....

Nigerian banks CEO are just dumb.

How does last election make Tems win a Grammy or how did it produce all the CEO in this thread?
You still go about spreading cheap tribalism....Shouldnt you be ashamed?

Two of the CEOs are Igbo ladies.

The CEO of GT Bank is an Igbo lady who married a Yoruba man while that of Fidelity is Igbo through and through...

You sound like you have zero corporate experience else you ought to know how bank CEO appointments are made including the politics that goes with it...

I will not condescend to the morass where you operate...

Now that your foolishness/pettiness have been exposed, you are talking about 70%

Illiteratus who does know that even the so-called 70% he is bragging with is a fraction....

Many iconic Yoruba women are from Ogun, Oyo , Ondo and Ekiti

How many people dey live where they're from? Some don't even go home as close as Lagos is to their home.
I agree with the Lagos advantage. Some of them were born in Lagos, they school in Lagos, Marry in Lagos, Work in Lagos and start to raise their own families in Lagos!

I think cos of Lagos, which gives Yoruba people a big advantage, just like USA leads the world cos of USA advantage. Other people from other regions should try and remove eye from Lagos and develop a Lagos in their own region to be able to compete fairly. Igbos and Benins are the only ones trying.

While Lagos might have far more commercial activities than anywhere in Nigeria, it does not have a monopoly.

I don't think unique locational development is the reason/advantage of why Yorubas appoint women.

If you go to a place like Zamfara, both public and private sector engagements are virtually 100% men. Same is pervasive in the North and some other parts of Nigeria. This has nothing to do with Lagos being in Yoruba land. It is a mentality and culture.

Women having opportunities to get to the top is more about average educational levels & quality, local culture and general open-mindedness.

Truly, your first response showed no bias and I responded to you without bias too.

Then your second response came with lot of bias and defeatist mindset. Because you think Yoruba women have the edge, then you inserted election into it to try to water down their success as being a product of tribalism.

I am Yoruba and always think in Yoruba. In Nigeria today, when you love your tribe and you’re vocal about it, you’re automatically a tribalist.

You truly represent your name, Legend and Hero. cool

Kudos.

You have a point about Lagos but why is Lagos favoring only Yoruba women? You have other tribe women in Lagos and they all have equal right in private enterprise and personal excellence but yet they couldn’t overshadow Yoruba women.

However, that is not the main reason because even before Lagos was this big, Yoruba women have always dominated major sectors and markets. Thats why when you go about reading about first in any field, they are usually Yoruba women.
My friend keep quiet!

Yoruba dominate because most banking businesses are owned by the Yorubas and their HQs are in Lagos.

There is so much internal politics in banking, and it's beyond this beer parlour argument you're raising here.

Now learn!

Banks owned by the Hausa would have more of Hausas/Muslims as staff, eg Taj Bank, Jaiz Bank, Unity Bank Plc.. And would most likely have a Hausa as the MD.

Same with Igbo... Same with the Yoruba..

The only bank that that is owned by someone from a different ethnic group and is dominated by other tribes is Access Bank Plc.

Now how does Lagos favour these chaps....?

When the HQ is in Lagos, recruitment starts there, appraisal and promotion is done there, top management staff mostly work out of the HQ.

It's even worse than that... Read...

Do you even know that, most branches would wait for plain paper, biro, ink, etc to be airlifted from Lagos for branches in other regions despite the fact that these items can be sourced locally?

There are even instances where ATM engineers, Time Stamping Machines technicians, Vault Maintenance technicians etc are flown in from Lagos to repair and maintain banks equipment.

Even official vehicles are registered in Lagos, before moved to other regions for use.

It's the Lagos politics!

And that's the same reason Mobil is dominated by the Yoruba.

Yes. They have their operational Base in Akwa Ibom, and HQ in Lagos.

Some of you just like to use words you don't understand, thinking it demonizes and malign others you dislike or feel inferior to, whereas you only end up describing yourself.

Below is the meaning of hegemony. Pray tell us those that are personification of it than the two most radical and extremist ethnic group of Nigeria today, I.e the Igbos and the Fulani, who wish to usurp, by force or stealthy and hostile economic takeover, the land and asset of others.

Yorubas are happy with their culture, boundary and themselves
. We are a humble people who are not and have never been usurper or covetous land grabbers let alone be interested in foisting our culture, religion or way of life on anyone. That is you lot and the Fulanis.

That Yorubas are incidentally great and dominate is an exponent of their talent and natural endowment as a people not any half-baked notion of hegemonistic nature your sort espouse out of jealousy and envy of us that precipitates inferiority complex in you and your kinsmen.

You should tell us when Yorubas, according to what is shown below, have ever sought dominance, influence or authority over others. Nonsense.
The bolded part of your comment is what many people don't understand.

He and his kind like to "Nigerianize" what is not in their territory and boundary.

To him, it is wrong for Yoruba people to own businesses in Yoruba land and also own and have over 90% control of industries in Yoruba land.

That's why his post below makes sense to only him and his kind...
that's why Ojukwu was angry when Ijaws found oil and wanted to leave the Eastern region not knowing that in future other i:gbo towns will also find oil.

They hate seeing non-i:gbos living a successful life.

IGBOSON1:

Quit being a smartass! I know what the word lockdown means! I wanted to know why he feels the Yoruba have to have everything in 'one Nigeria' on 'lockdown' for the Yoruba! The import of that supremacist mindset is that he and his bigoted ilk see everyone else as fools who exist just to be used to further Yoruba hegemonic interests!

Would it now be out of place to brand him and the OP as Yoruba supremacists and bigots? Can you now see the intent for creating this thread is for nothing more than dick-measuring?
