HOW NIGERIAN ARMY PERSONNEL TORTURED AND BRUTALIZED SERVING POLICE OFFICER ASP EDET INWANG TILL HE LOST CONSCIOUSNESS OVER ALLEGED WRONG PACKING

These are graphic videos and pictures of a serving Assistant Superintendent of Police posted to the Delta State Police Command, ASP Edet Inyang.

The attack happened on the 9th of December 2023. He parked his vehicle at a store close to the Nigerian Army's 63 Brigade in Asaba to purchase some items.

Upon packing, he heard the voice of a man on mufti whom he would later identify as one Lance Corporal Onyibuchi of the Intelligence Department attached to the 63 Brigade, Asaba talking from a far distance and speaking in tones which he could not comprehend.

While the ranting was going on, a uniformed soldier approached him and requested him to re-park his vehicle. He immediately made attempts to comply with the instruction.

While he was trying to re-park, the said Lance Corporal approached him and dragged him backwards and asked him why he refused to obey his instructions.

Edet tried to explain that he did not hear him properly because he was inaudible given the distance between them.

The next thing was for the said Lance Corporal to start pounding on and brutalizing ASP Edet along with not less than ten other soldiers. They brutalized him till he lost consciousness and they had to take him to the military hospital for medical care.

It was while in the hospital that one of officers who he had worked with him in a Joint Taskforce recognized him. The soldiers who tortured him to almost a point of death upon being queried by their superior said they did not know that he was a police officer.

What a ridiculous statement!

Should any human being be treated so horribly over alleged wrong packing?

Assuming without conceding that he did not park properly, or that he parked at a wrong place, should the response be an attempt on his life?

Is traffic offence now within the jurisdiction of the Nigerian Army?

This is a grave violation of fundamental rights. ASP Edet Inwang is still receiving treatment. His left ear is barely functioning. They used iron rod to hit his head. They also used the butt of a gun to assault him till he bled.

I have written to the Chief of Army Staff to demand that the offending soldiers be duly punished and adequate compensation paid to ASP Edet.

We cannot continue to live in a country where the rights of citizens are abused brazenly without consequences.

The @HQNigerianArmy should address this matter urgently.

What's Nigerian Army business with traffic offence?.

Nigerian Army doing Road Safety and police work, while police is doing Road Safety and VIO work. Confusion everywhere.

We need Nigerian army more in the north central states of plateau, kaduna and Benue and even Abuja

Our armed forces seriously need attention especially the Nigeria Police and Nigeria Army because majority of their operatives are nothing but touts in uniform. Imagine beating someone to this extent over a mere issue..... And you still have the audacity to say you didn't know the victim is a police officer... This is after over ten men fought a single man...

The last time was Policemen fighting a lawyer who came to your station to bail his client and only for you to heat him with gun, abuse him and lock him up inside same cell with his client.

Seriously something has to be done as soon as possible because our uniform men just seen themselves above the law.

In working countries, you rarely see their soldiers. In Nigeria, soldiers always get into confrontation with police and civilians.

They even go as far as meddling into civil matters and inflicting harms on civilians because one mallam always has the contact of soldiers on a speed dial.

It's a shame that all this nonsense is happening to a country that is supposed to be over 60 years after independence.

The NPF I know, the ASP didn't just comply to re-park, he must have tried to "show" himself that he's a police officer.

Army don't punish someone just like that, except you proved stubborn.

Well, they gave him a pill of his own medicine.

Just imagine the bolded part. Crazy society. So even if he's not an officer, are they supposed to dehumanize him in such manner for wrong packing?.

It's crazy the criminals we have in both Nigerian Army and police. Very crazy.

Is their no code of conduct for our security men?. Does carrying gun empower One to lord it over fellow citizens?.

Even police officers are not exempted from this ugly trend. Read how an inspector of police one victor serving in Rivers State but from Akwa ibom, was always threatening the husband of his ex girlfriend whom he allegedly fathered a daughter with.

It's crazy.

The Irony of this country is that this does not happen in the north. This is not how civilians are treated in the North. Even policing is different here.

I always say, the rubbish behaviour of the Military/Police is a direct reflection of the people themselves.

Give a Nigerian power/uniform/money, watch him oppress his fellow.

in as much as i condemn the brutally metted on him, the narrative just don't add up. He said he complied and he was about re-parking and then the soldier started beating him for not listening to him. What exactly is the problem of these cheap bloggers

I'm assuming OP is a police officer. I could be wrong though. They should settle amicably, it's a family matter. Last week a policeman almost blinded a friend's left eye with a slap. He's still unable to open the eye because it simply won't open. Offense? Same as ASP Edet's.

Nigerian politicians are very useless set of humans.

Only political office holders like Governors, Senators and President can put this uniform men abusing Nigerians to final rest, how?

Pass a law making it a criminal offense for a uniform personnel to beat, torture or even slap a civilian.

Then let the Governor and President wade in by using some like these animals called soldiers ae example how?

Order Chief of Army staff to sack them from the military and hand them over to Police or Court for proper prosecution as criminals which must attract a minimum of 25 years jail term and above.

Do this consistently for 4 years and watch these animals calling themselves Nigerian army and Police behave.

That's why I don't cry nor pity them when terrorists and bandits kill them neither do I waste my time whenever they say pray for Nigerian soldiers or Police, those are waste of prayers
