Racoon:Governance and economy are not the same thing. Getting governance right is far easier than getting the economy right. Governance is in your hands as president. The economy is partly in your hands - a lot depends on global factors, price of oil, luck, etc. The problem is that Tinubu has not done much to address the basics - roads, electricity, etc. Without these, the economy won't boom - even though he's getting governance right, at least, compared to Buhari. |

"Something will definitely give if nothing is done urgently." -- Kperogi. What's definitely going to happen in Nigeria if the masses in Nigeria are continuously fried up in a frying pan, the manner Tinubu govt is frying them? Nothing. Mass uprising can't succeed in Nigeria. Military can't rise either. Nigeria is divided into ethnic groups. Since the fall of the iron curtain, Europeans understood that multi ethnic and multi religious countries don't thrive. Europeans since then have helped to dissolve the European countries formed by multi ethnic and multi religious groups, beginning with the old Soviet Union to Yugoslavia to Czechoslovakia, and now with a shaky EU after the departure of the UK from the EU. Turkey wouldn't be admitted to the EU for reasons everyone knows but the EU wouldn't say. But Nigeria's political class are glued together by cheap cash from crude oil. They know full well that Nigeria is an experiment that cannot yield positive results at the long run. |

I disagree. Tinubu is getting Politicking right but failing in both Governance and Economy. |

Yet, Muhammadu Buhari, who rode to power on the strength of the perception and claims that he was “clean” and was intolerant of corruption, not only never fired a single minister on account of corruption (even though Nigeria lost the most money to corruption during his regime), but he also actually weaponized his symbolic power as president to defend the corruption of his ministers and close associates.PMB, the bigoted Failure in Chief and the most incompetent President in the history of our country, who rode to power on the promise of corruption intolerance, didn’t sack a single minister for corruption during his time ![]() Incredible. One can only lol. Our future historians will look back to 2015 and study it for centuries to come lol Racoon:I’m careful of criticising PBAT’s regime too early because most of these issues are PMB failures. PBAT just ripped off the bandaid for better or worse. He has over 3 years of his first term to try and resolve things. https://www.nairaland.com/2613012/paradigm-shift-way-forward-new#127839094 |

Can you separate the economy from governance? |

Will the economy be fixed with just a wand? Although I expect some harsh implementations if we are serious about overcoming. |

Odogwuzack:Reality is nothing ever gets better in Nigeria. Buhari wrecked Nigeria. Tinubu inherited a wrecked Nigeria.. Tinubu group knew that Buhari was inept and tribalistic in power. They refused Buhari since 2003 till 2015 after Tinubu saw a chance to become president with APC. There is hardly any thing Tinubu can do to make things better for the masses. Nigeria's political process and rigged political structure can never allow Nigeria to thrive. |

Obinoscopy:Thank you a million. I was looking for the right word. Tinubu is getting the politics right but getting governance totally wrong. (Economy, Security, Infrastructure and other things are part of governance) He is settling disputes in Rivers and Ondo, winning people to APC yes. But Kpeorogi that isn't governance, that is politics. This Kpeorogi guys comes across like someone who considers himself too smart,, Too many contradictions in his commentary. |

Suspend Beta Edu but all the people in his circle of government have corruption cases on their head. Even as corrupt and deaf as Buhari was, he also suspended Adeosun |

Racoon:Why is he mistaking politics for governance? Politics is what you do to get power while governance is what you do with the power to serve the masses who temporarily gave you the power. |

I BELIEVE HIS MAIN PROBLEM IS THE FACT THAT ALL THE PARLIATIVE ARRANGEMENT PUT IN PLACE ARE CENTRED AROUND THE APC MEMBERS!THEY ARE THE ONES ENJOYING THIS SCAM OF A THING!! |

Governance involves a deep interplay between the forces of politics and economics. You can't have good governance without knowing the people and how to distribute the limited resources amongst them. You get governance wrong if you don't get the politics and the economics right. |

onuman:Let me tell you some little things he can do!! 1. His cabinet is bloated, it is the highest cabinet in our history. 2. Feeding allowances for Aso Rock, for ministers, for senators. 3. All these heavy car allowances for ministers and law makers. 150 mil for one car. 4. Palliatives sharing under Tinubu has been a disgrace. For goodness sake, if you can't share palliatives what can you do? 5. Have the political will to dissociate self from people with EFCC cases and corrupt people. Ganduje, Akpabio, Wike, MC Oluomo . So there is so much Tinubu can do to improve things. |

ddippset:It's not enough to STEAL the last presidential election in Nigeria and use court judges appointed by his APC to seal the heist. Anyhow, the only promise made to Nigerians by Tinubu during the presidential election was that he would continue from where Buhari stopped. The Naira started its erosion in value against the Dollar during Buhari administration. Under Tinubu, the Naira is becoming like Somalia's currency during the hotter years of the El-Shabab/Somalia conflict. |

Farooq .A. Kpegori' s article above is very descriptive and suggest urgent steps to reduce the almost unbearable pain of subsidy removal and FX unification burden as an import dependent nation like Nigeria. However, The excitement on the suspension of Dr. Beta Edu and the legitimacy on the corruption fight it has all of a sudden ignited in the PBAT regime is laughable and childish. PBAT had no choice than to suspend Dr. Beta Edu. A strong ethnic battle line amongst the Muslim North had begun to gain momentum and their swords were about to be pulled-out. After the suspension of the National Coordinator of the NSPIDA- Halima Shehu on allegations of diverting N44B & invitation of the former Humanitarian Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq by EFCC, the leaked memo signed by Dr. Edu of N585m into private accounts surfaced. The northern civil society groups which included the Arewa Youth Forum(s) had daggers drawn and saw the suspension and EFCC invitation clearly targeted at the northern sisters and began to read ethnic lines to the suspension & EFCC invite. With the Leaked Memo on the N585m on Dr. Betta a southerner and also verified by her Media Aide, PBAT had no option than the suspension. President Tinubu will not joke with his support base in the North on the alter of defending Dr. Betta Edu especially since he intends running for second term. The last seven months has been one of the most challenging in Nigerian history economically- food inflation, poverty indexes, economic migration a wide class struggle between rich & extreme poor, decaying infrastructure, Legislators insensitivity, executive recklessness etc Nigerians should not get excited on a mere political face saving move. |

at least just in 6-months President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was said to have done well on governance by opposition Therefore it is believed that in 1-yr he must have created a record of overall good governance for all and sundry the man who gave this kudos to BAT is a man of integrity others like him are only blind political jobbers and opportunists who love to make noise like empty barrel to the extent that they are afraid to say the truth ....which cannot be subverted |
