But the truth is JP did not read the match well


The EQG team had a game plan to seat back and hit Nigeria on the counter

And there defense was cagged so Nigeria can't penetrate.

In such a game, a direct play will never work as they will always over power you or frustrate you.

Because Nigeria was playing a direct ball making Osimhen the sole focus of our play. Of course the EQG will ensure they're all on him



What the coach should have done is to split thier defense by using more of the wings to drew them out.
And Moses Simon and Chukweze would have done that well.
But he kept Chukweze on the bench and Moses Simon was moved to the right-wing role instead of his more familiar left-wing position, this disrupted the team's attacking dynamics.



And also use more strike option with at least two strikers. Would have been ok

A good number of times the coach is not to blame, if players can take responsibility and do their jobs on the pitch then positive results will show. If Oshimen had buried his chances like he does at Napoli we won't be her talking stories.

Our players are below average

As much as I hate to admit this, I believe our problems are more than physical. If osimhen was in napoli's jersey, he would have bagged an hattrick. There is this dark spirit that clouds our players whenever they are in Nigeria's jersey. Take a look at how oshoala bangs braces for barcelona and struggles here.

Something beyond the physical is going on. I believe it and I know I am not alone.

Over hyped team!!!

The game was super slow, no urgency to want go score goals, players dragging and delaying the restart.
It was a terrible to watch TBH.

I didn't watch the match.

But from what I could deduce from constructive Comments on Nairaland, I will suggest the players spend more time playing together for good understanding and improved cohesion.
On a player by player basis, we surely have more of the best players in this competition, but they've not really been playing together...
I actually don't believe the coach has any real and positive tactical input in most of our previous games, hence why I strongly believe in our players understanding themselves more...

The Heat & Humidity is/was unbearable for me wey come from 9ja.

The people wey dey play for Europe no fit think well inside that heat.

Na wetin dey affect all the big teams oo. Na local players that are used to the humidity that would excel & adapt easily.

Don't compare to Saudi or Qatar - those guys put airconditioning for stadium and play mostly at night.

Try playing football at 30°C with Kano 70% humidity - na your body go tell you.

Too bad if you are used to European 4°C summer weather with 10% humidity

What i noticed from the match yesterday is that this guys does not put in 100% shift like they do for their clubs they just want to exist the tournament and go back to their different clubs except for iwobi.
