It has to go beyond a special intervention squad. We need a special purpose force, whose aim would be to infiltrate and swim in the same swamp with the bandits and kidnappers, and to hit them where it hurts. They kidnap one, the force kidnaps several of the bandit family members and kills them one by one. It is time for fire for fire. I thought I would never say this, but we must treat these armed thugs with the language they understand. Unrestrained violence. Enough is enough |

alobright17: What makes the squad special? Is it not the same police in Abuja that will be in the squad or will they import them from somewhere? |

hedonido:The whole set up is in collaboration with the same security artitecture. Strong men like general Sani Abacha would have dominated every square inch of all the forests in one day. If the government were serious, every single Nigerian soldier or member of the armed forces will be given 1/4 of a kilometer to live in the bush. Let's see where the bandits will camp thier victims. |

You don't need to call the IGP useless, the police authority already purchased drones to monitor and locate their hide out. If he says it out in the public, the same Citizens would abuse him saying, must he say out his plans and tactics,i come in peace |

They need to invest in CCTV in many crucial areas of the city and keep watch. This will help enormously as it has in many major cities in the world. Get 100s of CCTV all over the city. |

azzima:In addition, they also need intelligence gathering. Nigerian Police use to have a very effective and intelligent covert detectives for intelligence gathering but I don’t really know what they are doing these days. |

maasoap: I have very little patience for idiots. What we are facing now is far too serious to entertain mischievous nitwits. It is Igbo or Yoruba or Calabar or Itsekiri herdsmen that are roaming around like bastards from one forest to the other, looking for travellers to kidnap off nearby highways? Anyone trying to deny the fact that we are dealing with Fulani pestilence must be ostracised. Just get lost. 2 Likes |
Re: Insecurity: IGP Egbetokun Sets Up Special Intervention Squad In Abuja by hedonido: 7:53pm On Jan 17 |
azzima: Man you're not updated with the news. The only form of kidnapping that is pandemic and burdensome to the ordinary masses is the kidnapping done by Fulani savages. End of. Only Fulani savages appear from the bushes to kidnap random travellers or random suburb dwellers and hold them for ransom in the bushes. The masses don't care about the traditional, planned kidnappings by 'professional' kidnappers like Evans or the Niger Delta militants who target rich businessmen or expatriates. The few rich and connected can sort themselves out. But when brutal Fulani savages just kidnap random Nigerians on highways, wisk them into forests, and start demanding N100m in ransoms, then you know we are dealing with monsters who cannot be tolerated. What is a national security priority is the Fulani herdsmen kidnappers. They are the reason why ordinary Nigerians are now scared that anyone can be a victim. Never pretend that the kidnapping plague now is a matter of all ethnicities. It is not. Fulanis are the perpetrators. Fulani IS the problem! 4 Likes |

Putindbutt: But he may be right though you may not like it. How can one explain the fact that after all the atrocities of Fulani herdmen in South West, they still prefer them more than the IGBOS who has never kill any of them before. No be be JuJu be that? 1 Like |

Re: Insecurity: IGP Egbetokun Sets Up Special Intervention Squad In Abuja by hedonido: 8:05pm On Jan 17 |
ivolt:The authorities know exactly what to do to end this madness but they would not. The so-called president is compromised and shackled by political IOUs, just as the entire security ecosystem is also compromised, incompetent and highly corrupt. I see no end in sight, unfortunately. Until such a time when a no-nonsense leader emerges who has the political will to upset the applecart, we can't achieve much. I actually miss someone like Obasanjo. He would have invited mercenaries from the North Pole if necessary, reporting directly to him if need be, to tackle this rubbish. What is most sickening to me is that one ethnic group would hold the entire country to ransom and wreak so much havoc in people's backyards. It is actually better for these Fulani bastards to limit their rubbish to their core north, and leave criminality in the South to southern criminals. We can take care of that. But imagine same animals kidnapping Nigerians from Edo to Ibadan to Enugu, Benue, Kogi and everywhere. Just imagine for a moment that a gang of Igbo or Niger Delta kidnappers are holding people hostage in Kaduna or Sokoto. Imagine the impossibility of it for a moment and let the disgust sink in. |
