Afcon was played in 2012 and 2013 to correct the clash of Afcon with World Cups. That's why Afcon was shifted to the odd number years since 2013. So by that covid shouldn't have affected afcon. But even at that, my curiosity is if we are playing afcon in 2024, why can't we call it afcon 2024? Why 2023
You are just naturally dull and slow....
How many explanations will they give you how COVID-19 affected both European and Asian national football including the Afcon.
Oga!! Are you this slow in learning?

I dreamt that Nigeria took the game to CIV meaning Nigeria outplayed CIV,

Did they win? Is what I didn't see, but i guess it meant we win them,

Fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞

These are pertinent questions but lets all pray and hope we beat ivory coast today even if we cannot point to any reason why we can.
At least we can dream. But the sooner we wake up and smell the coffee and begin to do things right, I don't think we are prepared to win a fourth AFCON.

Baba did you just say let's pray we beat ivory coast?
You self no serious. I thought with this thought provoking piece you put up there we can begin to look at how to turn things around and get it right with our national team.

Obviously your only solution is for us to begin to pray.

Very interesting and unbelievable.

See what & how each team that has won their match played.
They played like a team that knew what they were doing.
They played like a well knitted and blended team.
They played with prim precision and game plan
They played like true professionals.
They played with determination to win those matches.
Now let me ask,can we say the same for our super eagles?

See the last match against Equatorial Guinea, it was 1 shot on goal , 1 goal for the EQG team before we equalised.
Unlike the Eagles that had plenty goal scoring chances but failed to convert them.

So are these the people you want us to pray for?
We don't pray to score.
We team up, hold balls, connect each other precisely, create chances and take those chances to score goals. Not by prayer.

I am afraid, I won't be the harbinger of bad news, but we all know what the outcome is likely to be.

We are waiting.

There is no convention, it was because of COVID that euro/Afcon were not played in 2020, hence the back dating.
Before you jump to comment, see how a discussion started and what was already said.
If there is no convention, why did DFB, FFF or English FA not just call it Euro 2021on their own since final was even played at Wembley?

My friend, the original year to host, Euro 2020 or whatever remains even if postponed. Unless the postponement or bringing forward was already known before the Award/fixing of tourney date was done. Such as Afcon 2013 (bringing forward from 2014 to 2013) was already agreed before it was awarded. To avoid Afcon clashing with 2014 World cup year.

It's a sign of bad upbringing
Euro2024 will be played this year not Euro2023

I never it was covid before , while covid might be a contributing factor it wasn't the main reason.

Think naa, imagine them playing now and yet they are taking Cooling breaks .
Imagine what would have happened if they had gone ahead to play then.

Same thing happened to the Asian cup, it ought to be played last year too, but it was postponed.

Climate change... all those news , you no dey read am, or you yourself haven't noticed changes

Before you say something stupid like you said before, read news and try to stay updated
Ok. No longer covid
If it's weather, I have no issues but why not just change the name to 2024?

I never said anything about covid in my first post STUPID 🤡, check who quoted you well.

Even though information is available ..
But since you are not that bright, I would spell it out for you.

Sponsorship deals , and all arrangements that had been made makes it difficult to implement changes.

It not by insult sir. We are having a simple discussion. If you can find me one player even in the Ivory coast set up bigger than victor oshimen then I will gladly collect the clown tag.

Plus the stats speak for itself. Not what you feel. In our last game, we had more shots on goal, more chance created and more corners. What are you basing ur own argument on. Other than your feelings.

I hope you're sha watching the game currently, your big game player just missed a golden opportunity again as usual. You can't call someone a big game player and he goes missing such opportunities. If you watch Serie A, you will understand my frustration here. The kind of goals victor misses with the national team are the kind of goals he can score with his eyes closed in Napoli.

Oh sorry you're the first e-diot
Your claimed weather. Do you know summer in Europe falls to rainy season in West Africa?
That said, information has it they made the decision to postpone it in June 2022. If true, I think that's enough time to make necessary changes to the arrangement?

Are you daft , what has the weather in Europe got to do with that of afcon and AFC

Afcon postponed theirs due to fears of severe rains , they couldn't afford such risk .

Can you see the stadiums in ivory coast, would the crowd or players be able to cope .Think fool

Same goes for the Asian cup hosted in Qatar ,severe heat .

You want players and spectators to die of heatstroke!!!!

You no smart no need for any further argument.

Total energies, Techno and all those companies that have signed sponsorship deals , disbursed money and after all agreements has been reach should now come and start re negotiating terms and changing conditions.

Think Fool

God to think that you same fool wouldn't ask questions when Asian cup did the same thing is annoying.

Leave story.

We weren't crisp.

Yet we neutralised them to being handicapped.

Had CIV played and obtained our result, most of you would have taken it as the opportunity to bash Nigeria and the Eagles.

I find most Nigerians lack patriotism and zeal for their nation.

Quite a shame.

Stop being stupid na
This is the second time in a row they are having to make this type of adjustments. Does that not show that something is wrong with the planning?
The tournament used to be played in January and there was refusal to switch the dates previously due to such inconvenience. Since the present caf leadership think it can work, they should stick to the June-July calendar or revert to how it was.
To show how short-sighted and foolish you are, if the next edition ends up going this same route, it will defeat the switch to odd years that happened in 2013 which was meant to avoid clashing with World cup years. Won't Africa look like a joke when we're playing Afcon 25 in January 2026 a world cup year? We'll be right back where we started in 2013 with the ignominy of retroactive dates

You're so fixated on Asian cup like a drug addicted cretin
Is Asian cup the topic of discussion or is Afcon following the Asian cup. How com dullard like you is using Asian cup as template for Afcon when Afcon actually has more football prestige than it.
You're daft o
When afcon changed to odd numbered years in 2013 was it because Asian cup did too
