Delta: Supreme Court re-affirms Oborevwori (PDP) As Gov, Dismisses APC's Suit by fergie001(mod): 9:42am On Jan 19, 2024

The Supreme Court has re-affirmed Sheriff Oborevwori of the PDP as the duly elected Governor of Delta State in the 18th March Governorship poll.

Recall that INEC had declared the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly winner with 360234 votes against his closest challenger and ex-Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege of the APC who scored 240,229 votes.

Earlier, the tribunal and Appeal Court had separately dismissed the petitions.

Justice Inyang John Okoro JSC upheld the concurrent decisions of the lower Courts that the appeal/petition brought by the APC & Ovie Omo-Agege was unmeritorious.

The Apex Court held that the appellant was unable to prove his case of over-voting and noncompliance with the electoral laws.

On similar grounds, the Supreme Court also dismissed the appeal brought by SDP & her Candidate, Kenneth Gbagi.

When was the last time Supreme Court of Technicalities overturn any governor's election?? Maybe the lone cases of Zamfara and Bayelsa (Bayelsa can even be said to be the handiwork of Mary Odili).
What the SC is doing is empowering politicians to rig as much as they like or flout pre-election rules, knowing that at the end, they'll escape it under some non-existent technicalities.

My eyes is on that of Nasarawa state. I don't trust that Kekere -Ekun lady Judge, she's a very controversial character, remember she was the one that gave "supreme court" Governor, Hope Uzodinma his "mandate" during his first term. Religion is going to play a major role in today's judgement. The Dan Arewas believe Nasarawa is their birth right and will do anything to ensure a Muslim governs that state by hook or by crook. Secondly, they need the state to carry out their Agenda, because it is a major launching pad from which attacks on communities in Benue, Kogi and other states down south are coordinated from ( continuing where Uthman Dan Fodio stopped) lastly, from Kekere Ekun's antecedents, I think a "leopard cannot change its spot"

Delta has a zoning formula for governors under PDP and they don't want to change it.
Its the same thing that Obaseki wants to implement in Edo state. Peter Obi did it in Anambra State with APGA even though he left APGA to PDP.
Enugu state and Abia are doing the same thing.
By Zoning along all the major tribes or Senatorial Zones it brings a sense of equity.
I expected Yahaya Bello to have done the same in Kogi state with Igala, Ebira and Kabba Yorubas
