I thought about this more today. Van Jones does what a lot of liberals tend to do. They tend to use Republican talking points which in turn bolsters them. Biden is the President. He's running the country. He gives speeches, is seen mostly daily when he's leaving the white house, speaks to foreign leaders, does rallies and press conferences. To argue that is a basement strategy seems silly.

Yet, Trump, who was running in an open primary (the party of the President generally doesn't have a primary when the president is running for reelection), refuses to debate his opponent and discuss policy details. Yet, spews nonsense daily in rallies.

I prefer my President to be thoughtful and deliberate, to just do his job and run the country without the daily maelstrom (like a pilot, the only time I need to hear from him if there is an issue). It all feeds into this media circus that politics has become. The greater issue is not that Biden is not doing a rally weekly (in fact the point of rallies are to "rally" support and votes. So not doing them means he has the support he needs), the greater issue is that leaders who want to be President feel it's ok not to debate other candidates and allow voters to see them in those situations and answer/provide detailed policy.
