On their website, the average processing time is 140 days, but only a few applicants get decisions on their applications within these periods.

Some people here on this forum claimed they had done their biometrics since early August and have received no response yet from the IRCC.

No one can say precisely when an application is going to be processed because the IRCC don’t follow any particular order.

Good afternoon Everyone!
From experience, I have come to realize that the visit visa refusal comes within a week or less than a month after biometrics, and if you have not received any decision within this period you may likely be approved and also if there were any red flags in your application, it should have been seen at the time you submitted your application and you will be refused so that you can go back and correct that red flag and send in a proper application. Please in my opinion visa application is the most daunting experience and very few people can withstand the pressure that comes with the wait, this platform should be educative, calming and supportive as possible in my opinion.
Timeline:
Family Application submission: Nov16
Biometrics (husband only): Nov24th
Biometrics updated: Nov24th
Processing still ongoing....
(I applied in 2019 when I was single and was refused hence no biometrics for me)
Hope this gives someone a little bit of hope!

Could you please, share your timeline for 2019? Even if you can't remember the actual dates, you can summarize the interval from biometric date to refusal in weeks.

I wish you a successful approval on your current application 🙏

Sorry, timeline has nothing to do with approve or rejection, ircc only give preference sometime to elderly and thoes with usa visa often get faster decision and somebody here was rejected after 6 month on monday so longer waiting never equal to visa approval.

Apt!
Hence, it’s advisable to prove your Source of Funds using a cover letter especially when you have lump sum.

Madukachase:
You can use the asylum as something to support your claim. But not accommodation, health facilities, and job availability, because visitors visa holders does not benefit from any of that. Regardless if you have a strong profile getting a visit visa is still very easy.

For example:

Older people are less likely to seek asylum. We have seen parents visit visa getting approved in weeks.

Married people with kids and responsibilities are less likely to seek asylum.

People with good and real verifiable employment are less likely to seek asylum.

People with Business and properties worth millions are less likely to seek asylum.

* When you are desperate to leave your country ircc will know.

You will start submitting unnecessary documents, start drawing your family tree. Lol. Merging suspicious bank statements with unexplainable lump sum.

Imagine you claim you earn 400k per month and you submitted bank statements of 6 month with no monthly deposit of 400k from a company. These ppl are not fool.

* How many rich ppl do you see that pray for visa miracle? ALL YOU NEED ARE GOOD DOCUMENTS AND PROFILE. not Miracle or luck.

I beg to differ, what was the person’s reason for refusal?
It will be along the line of he/she did not submit a document requested by the ircc after a slated period of time, or there is a misrepresentation in any of the document!
Timeline plays a major role in hopefulness if you are sure beyond reasonable doubts that you have been able to convince the visa officer that you will return to your country after your visit....

After the back and forth here, I went to read on the statics of the number of people who claimed asylum in 2023 and I’m forced to agree that approvals will drop especially for those without travel history and or first timers, the statistics were scary and peaked by the month. It was mostly sought by air travelers. If they can implement the safe third country agreement and their Supreme Court gave a backing(in this case it’s for those trying to enter from the USA o, they’re not the ones issuing the visa and it’s affecting them like this)

we haven't seen anyone who had their biometrics done by September got any response, does that means all September applicant will be approved?
So i dont believe how long it takes has anything to do with the result at the end.

You very funny, you writing like canada visa is all about document ,5 years ago when u applied it was very difficult getting canada visa but late 2022 they relax the rule amd issue visa in mass approval even without travel experiencs but majority they got visa and travel to cAnada end up claiming asylum.
you have 20m in acct but u never go ghana or uk or kenya or south africa or usa that have even more tourist location then canada but ur first move na canada where u have no family or relations..and u think they are dumb and will continue to issue visa to this same class with past experience about abuse of the visa, current complain and associated cost on the economic housing asylum seeker.pleaase be realistic and stop all this sentiment.

Ok.
If you say so!
I was only trying to ease the aggressiveness of response, I am not a VO and so I do not know what’s happening at their end, I only aired my views based on experience, and mind you there are people with millions in their account who’s first choice of travel May be Canada.
I also see reasons with @enny421...
But there was no need to be blatantly discourteous @orjohn24 . C’mon we are all adults and just offering our 2cents.
May God help us all.
