IREV FAILURE: INEC OWES NIGERIANS AN EXPLANATION -- SAYS JEGA

A former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega, says the electoral umpire owes Nigerians an explanation regarding the failure of the commission’s Result Viewing Portal (IReV) and the Bimodal Voter Registration Systems (BVAS) during the 2023 general elections.

The political scientist spoke on Inside Sources with Laolu Akande aired on Channels Television on Friday.

The former Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, blamed desperate politicians for allegedly infiltrating the two technological systems introduced by INEC for the accreditation and electronic transmission of votes in the last elections.

At the February 2023 presidential and National Assembly polls, opposition parties complained bitterly that INEC officials at the polling units were unable to upload election results electronically to the IReV, as stipulated by Section-60 of the Electoral Act 2022. The parties kicked against the manual collation of results and the announcement of winners in the polls.

The electoral body acknowledged that certain glitches made real-time transmission of results impossible and promised to fix the situation but opposition parties approached the courts and challenged the victory of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was declared winner of the presidential election. Tinubu later won at the tribunal and the Supreme Court. Jega said though INEC meant well, some politicians circumvented the whole IReV and BVAS systems.

He said, “In 2023, INEC did its best under very difficult circumstances and a lot of these difficult circumstances were caused by the mindset of our selfish politicians who wanted to win by hook or by crook.

“INEC has overtime introduced technology to make the process of election results very transparent with integrity but from my own experience when I was in INEC from 2011 to 2015, and I suspect that a lot of that has continued to be so up to 2023, our reckless politicians try to be a step ahead of INEC; if you introduce something today and you try it, they try to be a step ahead of you and beat it by the next election. And of course, they can also use ways and means to not only truncate but also bypass something that has actually been put legitimately in order to add to the integrity of the process.

“If you ask my opinion, I feel very strongly that INEC needs to tell us more about what happened with the IReV. In fact, at one point, I was even calling for a thorough public inquiry about what happened with regards to IReV. I feel that something has happened, that in spite of the confidence and the very articulate manner the INEC chairman (Mahmood Yakubu) had spoken about the IReV and it then failed.

“I believe that some of our reckless politicians may have infiltrated it and truncated it but INEC will take the blame for that.”

According to him, once the court cases are resolved, “we need to go back to the bottom of what happened with the IReV”.

RECKLESS POLITICIANS FRUSTRATED INEC’S IREV PORTAL -– JEGA

A former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, has alleged that “reckless politicians” infiltrated the election result viewing portal known as IReV during the 2023 general election.

Jega, who called for a probe, made this known while featuring on Channels Television’s Inside Sources Programme on Friday.

During the presidential election held on February 25, 2023, the commission could not immediately upload the results of the election on the IReV portal, which led to a public outcry.

Reacting to the development, Jega said despite the commission’s efforts to get it right, some desperate politicians frustrated its efforts by infiltrating the portal.

Jega said, “In 2023, INEC did its best under very difficult circumstances, and a lot of these difficult circumstances were caused by the mindset of our selfish politicians who wanted to win by hook or by crook.

“INEC has over time introduced technology to make the process of election results very transparent with integrity, but from my own experience when I was in INEC from 2011 to 2015, I suspect that a lot of that has continued to be so up to 2023, our reckless politicians try to be a step ahead of INEC.

“If you introduce something today and you try it, they try to be a step ahead of you and beat it by the next election.

“And of course, they can also use ways and means to not only truncate but also bypass something that has actually been put legitimately in order to add to the integrity of the process.

“If you ask for my opinion, I feel very strongly that INEC needs to tell us more about what happened with the IReV.

“In fact, at one point, I was even calling for a thorough public inquiry about what happened with regards to IReV.

“I feel that something has happened, that in spite of the confidence and the very articulate manner the INEC chairman (Mahmood Yakubu) had spoken about the IReV, it then failed.

“I believe that some of our reckless politicians may have infiltrated it and truncated it but INEC will take the blame for that.”

He further urged that INEC should get to the root of what happened to the IReV portal after all court cases are resolved.

.

Whatever them like,, let them do.

The past is now in the past.
We are now faced with what comes ahead.
..

..

Upper Saturday Is Election.
(3rd February, 2024)

And it's the same INEC that will conduct the Elections, with the same BVAS and IREV-Portal.

***And we were able to establish from the Bayelsa-Imo-Kogi Elections -- that the INEC-Staff were able to manually manipulate the figures inside the IREV-Portal to go Up-And-Down anyhow in order to become whatever they wanted it to be,, and that they can even shut it down entirely if they liked.

Thus, those values as seen on the IREV can also be manipulated to anything they like..

..

AND NOW,, I AM ASKING...
...(ESPECIALLY TO THE OBIDIENT VOTERS IN THESE CONSTITUENCIES -- COME 3RD FEBRUARY, 2024.)

What are you going to do differently this time around in order to keep your keen critical eyes seriously on the INEC, so that they don't go against ANY Of the Electoral Laws??

Or are you just going to go to the polling units again as usual, sit around and gist, then cast your votes and go home, and allow the INEC to continue to do whatever they liked as usual.??

And we the Online Observers will still continue to see lots of their infractions, and manipulations, and discrepancies as usual.??
And be asking lots of questions which would never be answered in this current lifetime or the next.??

WHEN WILL ALL THESE CYCLE OF NONSENSE END.??
WHEN WILL WE START TO BEGIN TO TAKE OVER THE PROCESSES OF THE ELECTION PROPERLY AND SQUARELY.??

*****MODIFIED..
IN THE MEANTIME..
I SUGGEST TO ALL THE VOTERS TO NOT ALLOW THE VOTING TO START, UNTIL THE INEC-OFFICIALS SHOWED THEM ALL THE COMPLETE UNUSED SENSITIVE MATERIALS, THE UNUSED BALLOT-PAPERS AND THE UNUSED RESULTS-SHEETS, AND PROPERLY RECORD THEM BEFORE THE START OF ELECTION..
AND THEY THEMSELVES (THE VOTERS) SHOULD ALSO HAVE THESE RECORDS TOO..

ELSE NO ELECTION MUST START..

AND AFTER THE CASTING OF VOTES,, THE STRONG ONES AMONGST THE VOTERS SHOULD FOLLOW THE INEC-OFFICIALS TO THE COLLATION CENTERS, AND ENSURE THAT THE COLLATION OFFICERS COMPLY TO THE ELECTORAL LAWS AT THE COLLATION CENTERS.

Hmmm.
The "something" that happened must have been a credit alert to Yakubu Mahmoud's dollar account from a certain Bola. That was the game changer!

It's quite unfortunate that a public institution like INEC, funded with taxpayer money, is not held accountable for all actions and inactions regarding the last general elections.

Over N300 billion was given to INEC for the purpose of the election; 10 months later, INEC is yet to tell Nigerians how that money was spent and the reason IREV failed woefully even after repeated assurances that it would work and that election results would be uploaded in real time on election day.

Election matters in Nigeria, "you go explain tire, no evidence".

The only evidence is that Christ died for us on the cross. He resurrected and conquered death that me and you shall not perish but have eternal life.

It will be a disaster to suffer in Nigeria and end up in hell fire. Surrender your life to Jesus.

They stopped Tinubu from buying votes, he bought INEC, and bought the judiciary.
Man is a true criminal. He is the right person to lead Nigeria though since Majority of Nigerians are criminals.

Three elections (Presidential, Senate & Reps) held on the same day, same venue, same time, same officials, same BVAS and same Card Reader Machines.

BVAS worked successfully for Senate & Reps but failed to work for the Presidential.

INEC claimed they encountered a technical glitch on their Amazon server.

The Amazon company countered them explaining that INEC were lying ... their server did not encounter technical glitches on election day

Isn't INEC and Prof Yakubu the proverbial 'American Wonder'?

We actually believed in Jega then, I don't whether is tribalism or any other thing that made him to rig Jonathan out through the use of card reader.
South were using card reader while
North were using incidence form, and underage voting

Buhari remains the worst thing that ever happened to Nigeria

Him Jega owes Nigeria an apology first
