Tinubu did not win. You will not find favor if Tinubu did not genuinely win that election

Tinubu won the highest votes and was the only candidate who was able to secure 25% votes in 2/3 of all the states and FCT that make up 37 federation units of Nigeria.

Your problem is the Igbo in you will not accept the reality that your Igbo candidate could not even measure up to a Yoruba Tinubu despite all the propaganda and help by the Buhari Presidency to ensure that Tinubu failed.

That you voted Obi enmass in Igboland does not mean that Atiku did not defeat him in Bayelsa and Akwa-Ibom.

That you think the old man Obi was adopted by more Youths in the South, does not mean he was regarded as anything significant in the North.

Yes, we know Tinubu did not win in Igboland. He never needed victory there to win nationally.

The reality of the electricity situation is like many things in Nigeria government shies away from telling people the bitter truth

The truth is this Government tried to privatize power under Googluck Jonathan,
A sensible move but this was never fully communicat ed to the people and many don't understand what happened

Now there is the issue of subsidy which also runs into trillions. How do you run a privatized power service with subsidy. Every government since Obasanjo has kicked the can down the road
I believe El Rufai had a clear idea what he was going to do
Some clowns think it is about making noise and cheap jibes
The reality is powerhouse be significantly commercialized subsidies removed and people pay for what they use.
Talking about worst Minister is not only ignorant it is petty and stupid.
This year even with poor power they are talking of 3 trillion in subsidy
We need to devolve electricity away from the Federal government

Power minister is not as bad as his predecessors since 2014.

RIght now, the mistake the Power minister is making is simple.

1. He is not pressing the government to allow DISCOS charge cost reflective tarrifs.

2.He is not also pressing the government to actively punish power theft.

Both of the above are why we do not have power. The simple problem is that when a business is not earning enough money, issues would result. All the problems we have with the power sector boil down to the fact that government is actively preventing them from being profitable. Yes, APC TInubu government is not letting the power sector be profitable.

The painful thing is that apparently saying that the power sector should charge cost reflective tarrifs means you support the government that is actively preventing the power sector from charging cost reflective tarrifs. Nairalanders have some madt thinking faculties.

That is why we have 30 inactive licences for power stations in this country. The licence holders dare not invest in building power stations because any power station they build would lose money...because DISCOS won't be able to pay them adequately for power.

At the end, either the DISCOS get return on investment, or we can keep having the power we pay for as is. NO other way.

aribisala0:

The problem is many of you talk ignorantly without informing yourself properly of either the law or reality on ground

What is the function of the Ministry of Power in your understanding?

Yes we have a power problem

The Minister of Power has no power to do anything

Based on legislation passed under Jonathan before he left office power is effectively privatised
Like Mobile Telephony
Let me quote Fashola

Since Privatization took place, one of the things that have happened is that the size of the Ministry of Power shrank significantly”.

“I think our staff strength before I came was in the region of 15,000 and all of that is now less than a thousand people

If you don't know What the legal or lawful function of the Ministry is how can you criticize

States can now generate and distribute
Let all the states sort themselves out

The ministry he heads as a minister still supercedes every privatisation of NEPA or whatever. The mandate of the Ministry is primarily to formulate and implement the policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) with respect to: (i) Generation, distribution and transmission of power nation-wide (Power). Nigeria doesn't have a mobile communication company but a ministry oversees the activities. My solar system and inverter batteries have not worked for 24 hours till 2024 because there's been zero electricity supply from ibedc in 2 weeks now! Guy should step up his game already

The Minister to step up which game? aribisala0 is 100% on point, Jonathan that went and sold your electricity infrastructure to quacks with no vision on November 7th 2013? You are suffering today because of the nonsense that was done back then.

Most of those so called electricity companies assets have been seized today by the banks they borrowed money from to purchase your future.

You can console yourself by blaming Tinubu & his Minister, but the honest truth is that it changes nothing, the mar has already been done, na damage control government dey inside now.

Like I said most of the assets those quacks bought have been seized by their creditors, na damage control we dey inside now, for lack of vision the people perish.

I remember that morning November 7th 2013 when watching on TV Jonathan was all smiles, handing out certificates I was asking myself who are these people in agabadas collecting certificates, he even said it back then, that the future will judge their actions.

Even Eskom of South Africa, Togo, or Republic du Benin electricity companies would have done a far better job than those quacks who went & borrowed money in United States dollars to buy over priced assets.
