Judiciary should just step in and clear the arrears of awaiting trials cases. This will decongest the prisons and make the facilities more efficient for those there.

Also, sending offenders or accused to prison should not be the only option. Community service and home arrests should be .

Lastly,those who have served and are old, sick or served and shown good behaviour should be forgiven and reintegrated to the society.

I was it Ikeja high court last year, I heard some people singing, I was wondering where it came from. There was also a heavy stench. I asked the lawyer who they were as they were locked up in a room. Seems to be a holding cell they keep them instead of the blackmaria.
My lawyer, just pulls me aside, away from the place, saying one should pray not to be unfortunate to be in such situation as those people.
It really got me thinking. The way he said it, I still can find the words to describe.
Bottomline. In naija, avoid wahala, make sure you never involve yourself in anything that will make you enter court as an accused.
