I don't think this is entirely true, personally I feel he has always been a politician even before becoming a governor. A true business man would have developed Abia state more than it is knowing well that a developed society would bring more revenue both to you and the people under you. Many so called businessmen we have today are politicians disguised as business men, they lobby and play the politics to start and favor their business, and when they've made the money, they look for an office to protect the wealth. At the end of the day you're more of a politician than business man.

People that didn't know him still believe today that his wealth is Abia State money . His shortcomings as a Governor was that he used the opportunity to expand his business and was almost absent leaving State affairs to his mother and siblings who milked the State dry .

He was very wealthy b4 becoming a governor, but he couldn't use his wealth and affluence to position Abia for greatness. Rather he drained the State Treasury to the ground.
