Yes Ibadan has decent roads(not international standard) and also beautiful suburban estates and neighbourhoods like every other Nigerian city but the city proper is ancient and almost entirely rustic. Most people that criticize Ibadan are either Igbos or other Africans because it's fascinating to them seeing such vast endless canopy of rust which the occupiers have refused to demolish and raise higher or just refurbish as done in their own towns. I've also seen some Igbos who love the preservation of the city cause it gives it a soul. Ibadan isn't underated

Anyone who tells you that people live in houses with brown roofs because they want to preserve their culture is just lying to themselves. Note that I am only adding to what you wrote Go and check people who live in such houses, they are mostly paupers.

There's so much hunger, unemployment and poverty in Nigeria. To make matters worse, people don't vote to improve their situation. Voters put religion and tribe first, thereby making Nigeria the world's poverty capital.

I did my NYSC in the Southwest and believe you me some extremely wealthy people live in those houses in addition to the one they have in the suburbs.

The brown roof one made me decide to visit Ibadan recently just to show the other side of Ibadan that people do not show. I mean, yes Ibadan has some areas with brown roof so does most Nigerian cities.

However, what people fail to show are the nice area of the city. Note that Ibadan is arguably the largest city in Nigeria and as such has a myriad of neighborhoods both for the rich and the poor.

So, like I said, I went to Ibadan recently to show you what Ibadan looks like.

On a side note, I think Ibadan really has nice roads.

Urban development is poor in Ibadan. There are some settlements and places that's not ought to be located in the heart of the city. Those markets inside the city make it worse. From ogunpa, agbeni, oja oba should all be relocated to outskirts.

Those were on the outskirts before the city encircles it. Same thing happens in every growing city. You are not duty bound to like Ibadan, and she not looking for hardly pleased outsiders validation, and when people look beyond the 1890 mud houses with Zinc roof, they see value. Many prominent people lived, lives, schooled and made their name there.

An overwhelming majority of students that go to the University of Ibadan from other states can't wait for graduation so they can leave. Go figure.
