Hello house, please can e-Visa be extended? I see the option is available on the portal, so I am wondering who has used this before while in the country and if it was successful? Thanks
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by dexydidi(f): 2:12pm On Jan 29
I applied for visa through vfsonline and got rejected in December for my bank statement being less than 3 months, I checked the email and realized it was actually 3 months , I sent an email and they told me there was nothing they can do and I should reapply, this was 1st week of December 2023, I paid 87 dollars which is 121,400 even though this trip is fully sponsored and I even went ahead and attached my bank statement and all documents as if It was fully sponsored , meanwhile there is an invitation letter and other document from my employer, I went ahead and applied for another visa on the 21st December , I didn't get a feedback as my travel date was approaching and my flight was 31st Dec , as I had work engagements etc. When I didn't get a response, I followed up back-to-back to get feedback, VFSonline kept telling me, they had escalated and they are still waiting, My travel date was to travel 31st and return 25th Jan, I followed up and my colleagues even checked called DHA and they never picked up.

I have work engagements and targets. On the 25th of Jan I got an email that my visa was denied because the travel date had elapsed , I have never experienced such unfair treatment and day light injustice. I have spent almost 450k applying for this visa in just a single month in December . Total spent almost 200 dollars

Please I want to seek Justice, please how do I go about this??

Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by emmanuelle27: 4:26pm On Jan 29
Must I go to Vsf with a physical Copy of my bank statement or can I go with the PDF copy on my phone and email? GTbank insisted they no longer give physical copies of account statement and that the online copy is fully signed and stamped for Visa application, they only gave me a physical copy of the reference letter

I have been sending emails but no response but I noticed today that my payment status is showing “READYBATCH” is it a good sign?

Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Africankel(m): 9:54am On Jan 30
Print out the PDF copy. Take same back to the bank for stamping. E-stamp and signature isn't accepted by SA High Commission, hence VFS will will not collect it from you.

Preferably, go to a branch closest to VFS, they'll have dealt with many SA visa applicants.

Dear all,
Pls i applied for SA visa on 3/01/2024. The status still shows “awaiting adjudication outcome” but i noticed the payment status changed to “READYBATCH” this morning. What does this mean please? It’s a tourist visa for my brother’s wedding in SA.

I currently have same issues, did you later hear from them?

Hello house
I applied for SA evisa since December 12th and it’s been showing “ Awaiting Adjudication “ ever since . What do I do please ? The stupid agent won’t reach out to them and I’ve been keeping the proof of found in my account ever since which I need to spend from now . Flight and hotel that I booked has expired since January

Same here, I applied on the 7th of December, No response. My flight date is in few days time. Usually, they should still issue your visa irrespective. I have had similar situations with other countries such as UK before. U do not need to do anything, They will still issue your visa if it’s approved even though your travel date has passed.
Hello Chief , have you gotten any response from Sa ?

Sorry about your issue,

Your re-application is seen as a fresh application, regardless of any mistakes from you or them. You re-applied on 21st December. Expecting to travel on 31st Dec. that is peak holiday season and most offices are closed. SA hardly issues visa when travel date has passed, especially if you ae applying via vfs.

My opinion; Dont bother wasting more money and time to seek justice. There are disclaimers already when applying that they wont refund.

Africankel:

Sandton is nice, however, take extra precautions everywhere in Johannesburg. Especially the CBD. Cape Town is much safer.

I will be gently with you because going by your submissions here on this thread; you know very little about South Africa as you seem like a person who mostly visits and leave. So your lack of exposure and insight is understood, but you also don't mislead people with your opinions.

South Africa has many different cities and towns and all these cities and towns have tourist friendly places ,regular neighbourhoods; rich , middle class , combination-poor and middle and poor neighbourhoods. Jhb CBD, Alexander, shacks etc arent places any normal tourist should venture into as they are filled with both local and immigrant poor populations and on top of that drug trade and consumption and all issues that go with that. The only visitors who go to these places are not genuine tourists, just people who want to disappear into SA and cry victimisation when it backfires.

Sandton is also not a tourist centred place ; the place is designed for business networking, expatriate comfort but you can enjoy yourself there as there are nice chill-out joints to explore. So it's definitely a place you can use as your base; accommodation while you explore other places during the day.

With that being said , if you're going to any city in South Africa as a tourist; use Google. Jozi is more of history and partying type-of tourism in my OPINION, there isn't much nature but this all depends on your interests and tastes. Coastal cities have it all; the natural feel , history, partying and business and Cape town leads them all.

I was trying to correct the safety misconception here. No city is more safer or less safer than the other in South Africa, it all depends on the neighbourhood and ofcourse your own way of life and pockets.

Exaggerated opinion. Lived around SA and Capetown is the only place i have genuinely felt safe. Its the no 1 tourist destination in Africa and thousands of tourists fly in here weekly to enjoy our beautiful city.

"Fact is a statement that can be verified and objectively proven to be true or false, while opinion is a statement expressing feelings, values, attitudes, or beliefs that cannot be proven to be true or false"

What he stated is a fact and statisticsSA; the SA body that is responsible for combining national data is there with the receipts grin. The bolded is an opinion grin. That Cape town is the number one visited city is also a fact. Why you got so agitated and felt the need to correct him is up for speculation, and I have my theories but those would be my opinions of Nigerian migrants in general , so they have no place on this particular issue grin grin.

With that out of the way ; like I said on the post above , no city in South Africa is more safer or dangerous than the other, those are more personal feelings and perceptions than reality, not fact -based . If there was such a city with more danger than others , then Cape town with its high murder rate , followed by Jozi with other crimes would be declared no-go zones of South Africa grin. However, these cities like every other have their wild , great and ok neighbourhoods. Jozi is the New York of SA ,dare I say Africa grin. So it has a lot of desperate people from all over the country ,the continent and the worl hence the crime rate. Cape town has internal gang issues since the 70s and I don't see that stopping anytime soon. And also a lot of misguided locals from the Eastern Cape Province have joined the same gangs . So stay away from such and you willl enjoy the place .

Odimbannamdi don't limit your research on nairaland alone, you might meet some bitter people who came here on a student Visa thinking that after completing their studies they would automatically be granted PR status or citizenship grin , and every company and department would be head-hunting them for employment. And when things did not go according to plan they then *realised how bad the people and the country are grin*. How insecure the country is and how cruel the citizens are grin* . The same is the case in the UK, Canada etc. Form your own opinions of the place once you visit .

And I'm curious, where exactly have you lived in South Africa before Cape Town ( Province, City/ Town , and neighbourhood). Perhaphs what made you feel so unsafe before were your own choices ?
.

If you are coming to Capetown, stay at sea point, green point, or v&a waterfront or maybe cbd. Those are central to many Cape Town activities. Dont let anyone scare you.
The link below can help you book popular tourist activities in Capetown at reasonable rates. Much cheaper than anything else online.

Personally had their wine tours 3 different times. Go on tiktok and Instagram and find out for yourself what tourists do.

I plan to travel on the 18th.
