There was drama at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) head office in Jos, Plateau State capital, when the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state discovered its name missing from the ballot papers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the re-run elections.

The absence of the party’s name was discovered during inspection of the sensitive election materials by party officials and INEC representatives.

John Akans, the state publicity secretary of PDP, who was present at the inspection venue, protested stating that his party would not accept such.

“We have identified you as the National commissioner of INEC. Let us see how you are going to conduct these elections. You have been our problem in Plateau. You either go back or do the right thing. Don’t take us for granted in this country. You are perpetrating illegality.”

“Is that what the oath of office you took states? Is that what the constitution says? Let us see how you will do it. You will meet us in the field, ” Akans said while referring to the INEC National Commissioner, Muhammed Kudu Haruna.

Responding, Malam Haruna said the commission held a stakeholders’ meeting with all political parties on January 9, and was informed that the party would not participate in the elections.

He added that the Appeal Court judgement had disqualified the PDP from participating in the elections.

Our correspondent reports that INEC is conducting re-run election for the Jos North Senatorial District and Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, on February 3.

What a funny country

Another joke of the century!
APC is biting more than it can chew on the plateau.
As a stakeholder, I would advice APC to trade carefully or the game will backfire.
The judgment of the supreme court has established that, the appeal court erred by nullifying their election for want of structure.
The supreme court also established that there's a structure in plateau state PDP,as they substantially complied with the order of the state high court, to repeat their Congress.
This is shocking, as INEC which was a party in the governorship election tribunal and at the supreme court, is ignorant of the ruling of the supreme court in that matter.
This is sad and unacceptable.

Can we please hit the street protesting for Tinibu to resign... People are suffering... Inflation rate is way over 300%... Exchange rate is making the poor not able to buy imported goods... Why is fuel price still up after almost a year after subsidy was removed... They are looting the money that would have been used to subsidize the price of gas.... WE NEED REVOLUTION... The way it is going, in its efforts to continue to grab, snatch, and run away with power, Tinubu and the APC, in collaboration with the court and INEC, might want to be the only political party on the ballot.

INEC using PDP to catch cruise. Thought there were earlier reports that all parties will participate in the election.
