Wike Reaffirms May 29 Delivery Date For Abuja Light Rail Project by Estello: 5:13am On Feb 02
The FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, expressed satisfaction with the progress on the Abuja light rail project, reaffirming its May 29 delivery as sacrosanct.

He made these assurances after inspecting the ongoing construction of access roads to the train stations on Wednesday, from Metro Train Station in the Central Area to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Reassuring journalists accompanying him, the minister reiterated that President Bola Tinubu would commission the rail project on May 29 to mark his one year in office.
The visited stations were Wupa station near Idu and Bassanjiwa station near the airport.

“This is part of our routine inspection of ongoing projects to see the contractors’ progress,” Wike explained.
“We are working day and night to fulfill our promise to President Tinubu and FCT residents. By May, Mr. President will ride on the Metro line.”

Imagine this being celebrated as a mega project in the capital of a nation in the year 2024

Its a funny project that i still do not understand, it start and ends where 98 percent of Abuja residents do not go to. Whats the economic importance of these to the residents of Abuja?

I am a full-time realtor in Abuja, and surprisingly, I have never come across the location of this ongoing project.

Given its significance as a transportation channel, it should be visible or known, but I have never had the opportunity to witness it.

I'm not denying its existence o, but the project seems to lack any economic significance.

It appears to be a waste of money, with various administrations working on it and seemingly benefiting financially.

Unserious man, you refused to complete Port Harcourt rail because of beef with Amaechi, but promising Abuja light rail.

Whatever issue you had with the PH rail, do your part and leave the rest for the coming generation.

If its 2km you can do, do it. Every administration will keep adding theirs. Until the city is well covered. Instead, you killed the project because of ego.

Same thing Ambode did in Lagos. Luckily, he was denied a 2nd term and the blue rail project is now operational serving people of diverse backgrounds, and standing as a pride of the nation.

Its success has even propelled Lagos to start the Red line, which is at an advanced stage of completion and planning is already in place for additional lines (Green, Purple, Orange).

U re not Abuja resident otherwise u won't say this.

It won't be misplaced priority it seen in other nations, in fact it will be a means to downgrade Nigeria as usual.

It won't be a misplaced priority if it is from Ur candidate. Nothing good can be done by anybody if not from Ur person, yet Ur person cannot point to anything good he has ever done except to invest state money in family business.
