This is old news. The students you saw are likely part of the "late to everything" crowd.

Exactly. Jamb made NIN compulsory in 2020 before eventually relaxing the rules.

Even after being captured, you should thank your stars if you have your details modified within a month. How and why we are like this, only God knows!

On a norms, stuff like modifying your name should be things we should be able to do by ourselves on the NIMC portal from the comfort of our rooms. Why do we like suffering ourselves in this country?

Just open your mouth waaahhh to say what you like.

Shey u are enjoying the insecurity situation in Nigeria?

Why should you wait till deadline to register for the NIN?

Is it today NIN registration started?

Also, u want criminals in Nigeria to sit in their room and change their identity right?

Why should NYSC, Jamb, Waec etc make Nin compulsory when they know NIMC is still unstable as a result of corruption?

Why won't NIMC make these things easy for Nigerians?

For instance, you should have officials that can take these things to secondary schools so the young students can register with ease without leaving class to stand with a crowd.

Please, can you clarify me on what you meant by issues with your middle name. Is it that the middle name in your NIN is different from the one in your school documents, or the arrangement of your name is different in both?? Eg. Abdul Adeleke Chima in NIN, then Abdul China Adeleke in school document.

See ehn, as long as government staff manage these processes they will purposely sabotage it for their personal gain. You must have to "see" somebody to get it done quickly or wait for days on end.

Nigerian corruption is very intentional

If you give Nigerian 20years to register for NIN, there will still be people that will not. E.g my neighbor. He doesn't want to be tracked or monitored by the eagle eyes. Even when the electricity board gives everyone in the Estates free meter he refused because he would require NIN to set the meter.

Soon, NIN will soon be the currency we will be spending in this country.

I really feel sorry for your experience.
But I do have a question to ask. NIMC had been in operation since 2012. Many of us did not visit them to enrol. Infact, there were times they had to start going from shops to shops and markets to canvass.
I also believe for the 4/5 years you stayed on campus, you could have got it done. We don't need to wait till we need vital documents before running to do them. We all caused this mayhem.
Now, if you have the funds, go and do International passport and don't wait till you are having travelling opportunities and you will be rushing. Same as regularizing birth certificates, applying for driving license even before you buy a car and many other stuffs.
Those guys you mentioned are just taking advantage of our passiveness to their own advantage.
I got my NIN in 2012 and the centers were practically empty at the time
The question is taking the bribe is it legal, i can decide to do it anytime i feel like. The cursed money will eventually take der life

The government wants a reduction in insecurity, but they don't want to find a solution to extreme hunger and poverty.

Insecurity would never stop. NEVER. until the poor is allowed to breathe, until they provide jobs , until the price of common amenities as food and drugs are affordable to the common man in society.

Insecurity would never stop. If they like let them allocate billions of security votes/funds to governor's and senators. Insecurity would never stop.

Inflation keeps biting harder, prices of goods keep going higher. Purchasing power keeps getting lower. While government and their officials sleep in their high tower, and have a lot of security entourage tagging along their Range Rover.

INSECURITY WOULD NEVER STOP. We all know the new business in town now. KIDNAPPING. it would never stop. As far as the poor are neglected and they can't afford their basic needs. The president keeps flying abroad for medical treatment and exclusive Private lavish excursion. But the poor keeps dying of not been able to afford medical treatment.

Alot of people are out now to avenge the loss of their loved ones caused by how the government and others in power has neglected them. So the worse days are yet to come.

STAY SAFE.

I was trying to register for NYSC on the 29th of January, but I couldn't due to some issues with my middle name (NYSC recently made NIN compulsory for corpers). This means I have to go to a NIMC center to do a name correction.

The next day, I went to the center at Ojo Local Government Secretariat in Lagos, but I met a crowd, and it was obvious I won't be able to meet the deadline for NYSC registration if I should join the queue.

Hence, I went to the NIMC center at Lagos State University, only to meet another crowd. Then, I made the following discovery:

1. Nin is now compulsory for Jamb and Waec registrations. Hence, I saw several secondary school students who should be in class also hustling for Nin.

2. Both Lasu and Ojo centers have only one computer to attend to the huge crowd. It was heartbreaking seeing people suffer just to register into a government database. I know the government would have dispensed resources for several computers, but the money has been embezzled.

3. The NIMC officials at Lasu are taking advantage of the situation to stylishly exploit the people.

If you want to be attended to as quick as possible, you have to go through the backdoor to bribe them with a minimum of 5000 naira. A lot of people were paying the bribes because they needed the Nin urgently.

The three NIMC officials at Lasu whose name I got were Chidinma, Alice and Emma. Those guys are making serious money from these bribes. Imagine if an average of 30 persons pay them 5000 per day just to get their Nin registration done that same day.

4. The implication of the above (if you don't have 5000 to bribe) is that you won't be attended to except you are ready to keep coming everyday for the next 2 months.

I saw a young girl who told me she has been coming repeatedly for many days but was not attended to, but she needs the Nin for jamb registration which is closing soon.

I did mine 3 years ago and the idiot still collect 4k it is not the time people are just evil.

After all the tussles and being made to pay 7000 naira because nysc registration is closing soon, I was attended to, and the name change was a very easy procedure.

However, the name change is still yet to reflect, and I still can't register for nysc.

I hope nysc intervenes
Mmmh. I heard name change and age is not free oo. Them dey pay 15k. How true?

Do you not think that this registration should have been a continuous exercise Why put a closing date? Secondly why just one computer in a center. Just asking.

Exactly. Never let such go. Do your part and your part is reporting it with evidence. Some of these people will be the ones pointing fingers at govt for corruption, what is the difference? Nigerian citizens, I dare say, are as bad as the govt they criticize, if not worse. There is one that is always on most frontpage threads criticizing the president from morning to night, yet he is a yahoo boy.

I totally agree with you. Most Nigerians are part of the corrupt system - knowingly or unknowingly. If every case of corruption is reported, I'm sure corruption will not be this pervasive. See something, say something.

The funny thing is, as we speak, there are still some people that doesn't want to get NIN. How they manage to be using mobile phone sim cards is a case for another day.

Welcome to Nigeria, where only the riches gets what they want.
If you have money in Nigeria, you can buy election
If you have money in Nigeria, you can buy justice
If you have money in Nigeria, you can kill whoever you want to kill
Infact, if you have money in Nigeria, you can do whatever you want to do.
Rotten country and no one wants to protest

I think it's NIMC who made it compulsory on those bodies to request for it as a prerequisite for registration.
NIMC or government needs to do what you said.

Giving and taking bribe is illegal anywhere in the world and I will never support it.
I am only saying we should do what we need to do on time before it becomes a mad rush.
As it stands, you may not have other options than to bribe them but mind you, the giver and receiver are both culpable.

In this same Nigeria, in Lagos and Abuja, I have seen NIMC staff dancing round in vehicles to appeal to Nigerians to come out and enrol.
Infact I know of a time they were giving staff targets and they were practically begging family members to come out.
My question is, where were all of us at the time?

It's a continuous exercise. It started fully since 2012. It's the different agencies depending on the NIMC database that is placing their own deadlines. I know NIMC is not going anywhere. Registration will continue. It's like birth and death registration

Go to Zenith Bank HQ at Ajose Adeogun, VI. Tell the security at the gate that you are there for NIN registration.

NIMC has an office inside the HQ, they will attend to you immediately and dont ask for bribes.

Tell that little girl who is trying to get it for JAMB too.
