It is quite a sad situation but what I know about some Nigerians is that they don't take some things serious especially government, I did my NIN in the year 2014 that was 10 years ago at Panseke, Abeokuta with just 50 naira for printing of enrolment slip,President Buhari did his own registration after he became president 8 years ago then mandated every Nigerian to enrol and you are just going to enrol now, that's not okay really. Some still doesn't have BVN, it's bad. A stitch in time saves nine.

Please read is post again and don't just jump into conclusions. He said he has registered before but his middle name is not arranged the same was as the way it was arranged in his documents. I also have d same issues too with both my NIN and my Inter'l passport.

For example the arrangement is

Int Pass - A C B

One Bright is even here in Bori camp Portharcourt, collecting money as high as 5k to 10k for just nin. The worst is that even some military personnel are involved. Another center at polo club portharcourt doing the same thing. These are young people who are supposed to live an exemplary life for younger generation. I have all their names with me. If we don`t start with our selves the change we all desire won`t come like mana in the wilderness. Corruption has eaten deep into the blood of 80% nigerians.

After all the tussles and being made to pay 7000 naira because nysc registration is closing soon, I was attended to, and the name change was a very easy procedure.

However, the name change is still yet to reflect, and I still can't register for nysc.

I hope nysc intervenes

I really feel sorry for your experience.
But I do have a question to ask. NIMC had been in operation since 2012. Many of us did not visit them to enrol. Infact, there were times they had to start going from shops to shops and markets to canvass.
I also believe for the 4/5 years you stayed on campus, you could have got it done. We don't need to wait till we need vital documents before running to do them. We all caused this mayhem.
Now, if you have the funds, go and do International passport and don't wait till you are having travelling opportunities and you will be rushing. Same as regularizing birth certificates, applying for driving license even before you buy a car and many other stuffs.
Those guys you mentioned are just taking advantage of our passiveness to their own advantage.

On a norms, stuff like modifying your name should be things we should be able to do by ourselves on the NIMC portal from the comfort of our rooms. Why do we like suffering ourselves in this country?

Seriously, since a fee is required, one should be able to do these changes by him self perhaps through a code sent to the linked number on payment confirmation.
With these code, one should be able to log in in an effect these changed perhaps with an additional facial validation to compare you're truly the one that want to make the change once you're logged in.

This is the same problem with all the nimc centers across the country, it is only the price of the bribe that varies.

Not ALL,In some Northern part of Nigeria we get easy access and fast service deliver in our NIMC center.Some of the rubbish y'all experience in the South hardly happen here in the North, though every part of the country with it's curse.

The next day, I went to the center at Ojo Local Government Secretariat in Lagos, but I met a crowd, and it was obvious I won't be able to meet the deadline for NYSC registration if I should join the queue.

Hence, I went to the NIMC center at Lagos State University, only to meet another crowd. Then, I made the following discovery:

1. Nin is now compulsory for Jamb and Waec registrations. Hence, I saw several secondary school students who should be in class also hustling for Nin.

2. Both Lasu and Ojo centers have only one computer to attend to the huge crowd. It was heartbreaking seeing people suffer just to register into a government database. I know the government would have dispensed resources for several computers, but the money has been embezzled.

3. The NIMC officials at Lasu are taking advantage of the situation to stylishly exploit the people.

If you want to be attended to as quick as possible, you have to go through the backdoor to bribe them with a minimum of 5000 naira. A lot of people were paying the bribes because they needed the Nin urgently.

The three NIMC officials at Lasu whose name I got were Chidinma, Alice and Emma. Those guys are making serious money from these bribes. Imagine if an average of 30 persons pay them 5000 per day just to get their Nin registration done that same day.


4. The implication of the above (if you don't have 5000 to bribe) is that you won't be attended to except you are ready to keep coming everyday for the next 2 months.

I saw a young girl who told me she has been coming repeatedly for many days but was not attended to, but she needs the Nin for jamb registration which is closing soon.

Unfortunately this is the sad reality that we live in. Govt introduces a scheme to safeguard it's citizens but makes the process cumbersome, and open to exploitation and corruption. Sometimes there is no need for these .....most students in Lagos have lassra (which wasn't easy to get) why not use that? Just discovered that to get a passport, I must get a letter from local govt ... Why? I already have NIN .... Hmmm

NIMC made a mistake in difference of 24th April instead of 25th April on my biodata, for over 2months even after payment, I'm still yet to get it corrected.

This simple modifications are things we should be able to do from the comfort of our homes as long as u've got all necessary documents sorted out.

Nigeria still got a long way to go, Nigerians are the problems of Nigeria 🇳🇬.

A court injunction stopping JAMB from preventing student from applying for the exam if don't have NIMC should be obtained.

If u r changing names, there are possibilities it might not work. Rearranging names may work.

Dob isn't cheap and it may not work.

Let me be honest with you, I don't work with I'm or nimc but from experience, if what u r changing is date or month, u have w chance but if it's year, na 50/50. Chances are It may not work.

I did name rearrangment in 2022 and it corrected after 2 weeks.

This country is beyond irredeemable. Every one, everybody is just so corrupt, every avenue is to make money. I kuku don't blame them, cos that's what their leaders are also doing, looting, bribery and others. And we'll start blaming our leaders, not knowing that these same leaders are still reflection of the people, let them also be in position of governance or power, they will also do the same

I don't agree with you .I could remember visiting there website and I read there modification rules...they even stated is 15k to do it ..The only issue I have is getting where to do it cos they stopped most of there agents from operating. If doesn't work ...what happens to my passport renewal?

It's not about doing it, it may never reflect.

They may do it fine but it may not be approved .50/50 if u r changing year. Ask anybody

Exactly my own took 2 month and didn’t reflect, I had to pay one man their 2k before the guy did the magic that made my correction reflect

I am having this same issue now. The same type of arrangement happen in my NIN and my International passport. I am still debating on which to correct. Either that of the NIN or that of my International passport. The arrangement of my name in my NIN tally with that of all my documents.

International passport renewal uses NIN as its data base. So you need to edit your passport details online to match the NIN.
It's a straightforward process

There should be a clear statement to Government about this.
