Senseless comment, why can't you ask Govt to come and protect the transformer at your backyard or your compound gate. Sensible citizens take charge of public facilities in their domains and alert the security of any intruder.
Stfu! It's not a senseless comment. How do you expect civilians to take charge of security when Fulani terrorists are posting videos on the internet with their faces uncovered but they don't get arrested? Insecurity is not the lack of information by the security operatives because all the terrorists are known people - they're not in hiding

Sadly, they're right. People are so hungry and will do anything to meet their needs, including vandalism on power projects.

Re: Vandalism, responsible for Recent Grid Collapse by GOVERNORR: 9:37am On Feb 05, 2024
When you impoverish citizens what do you expect. Peace?

Nigerians should braze up for total shut down cause bandits spread across the country in hundreds wielding AKs know exactly what their missions are.

John 10:10

They are out to kill steal and destroy

Besides it's not their own in power anymore
Re: Vandalism, responsible for Recent Grid Collapse by oglalasioux(m): 9:38am On Feb 05, 2024
Only in Black Africa.

We see progress as oppression. The people vandalizing and stealing manhole covers and solar street light batteries in Abuja say they are taking what the white man took from their forefathers. White man that left since 1960.

The black man can't rule himself.

#bring back colonial rule!

TCN is not telling the Truth to NIGERIANS because-
-when and what date was this occurrence?
- When did it came to Nigerians ,for verification?
- What the TCN and DISCOS are doing is just to hide their- Corruption and Incompetence and what has been there achievements since over 5-10 years, they should tell Nigerians?
•You would soon noticed that all this bravado is a scheme and a pretest to increase Power Sector Tariff, yet no increased in Power Megawatts - always in 3000- 5000 Megawatts, while Egypt, with lesser Population than Nigeria is climbing 55,000Megawatt to 60,000Megawatt! Something is seriously wrong- why things are not Working in Nigeria!
- Nigerians are still waiting for the Power Minister - Adelabu- to tell us his own side of the story!
• A Nation-like Nigeria without - Constant Lights.
• without Functional Refineries,
•without any government intervention-e g Social Amenities for the Youths and the same govt don't wants Nigerians not to Japa!

Re: Vandalism, responsible for Recent Grid Collapse by Dobodobo04: 9:47am On Feb 05, 2024
Vandalism is huge and affects every nation.

The federal government should carve out a task force from our military to protect our infrastructures. If we have to train them using foreign partners, let’s do it.

They should be well paid, armed and ready to engage or apprehend vandals in the act.

Huge investments will be going on infrastructures in the next few years, from pipelines, railway tracks, transmission grid, power stations, etc.

There should be sensors, alarms, CCTVs, drones , etc where needed to alert the task force to places they can’t easily reach.

These infrastructures are critical and need protecting 24/7.

President Tinubu, u the new sheriff. Let them know!!

This ones are only shifting blame

This country is headed for total collapse. I don’t see any promising way out. The rot started from the north and like cancer it is fast spreading to the rest of the country.
Re: Vandalism, responsible for Recent Grid Collapse by Iko5000: 10:02am On Feb 05, 2024
Might not work like that , normally there should be multiple routes so if one route fails power can be
re- routed through another route so their excuse is not valid imo.
Omihanifa:
The government should quickly decentralise the power infrastructure especially the transmission part of the value chain. How can a problem in Jos bauchi axis affect the other part of the country isn't that ridiculous?

The cross country cable lines needs to be decentralised so that each state can take responsibility of its own share.

They can never, ever run out of excuses
Re: Vandalism, responsible for Recent Grid Collapse by ochukoccna: 10:49am On Feb 05, 2024
What kind of asinine excuse is this?
Must we run a centralized power structure such that an 'incident' in a remote part of the nation brings down the whole national grid?
Do busy cities as Lagos, Port Harcourt have the same power needs of a Damaturu or an Ebonyi or Ekiti?
Why lump everyone together?
Do the have the same development pace?
Nigeria needs help fast

Government can't be everywhere, etc do our own part by doing the right thing.
How can a right thinking individual destroy such an important infrastructure if not evil minded. Pure evil and nothing more.

Please, don't be quick to talk rubbish.

He is right.

How can vandals have access to such valuable national infrastructure?!!

Do you need to be taught or told that such facilities should be secured by armed personnel 24-7?!!

It's such silly excuses and justifications we make for those in power that make them comfortable in piss poor leadership.

Citizens should take charge of them, how?!! So, if vandals come with guns or machetes, you will fight them off with what?!! Alert security that takes forever to respond to emergency?!!

This is a half-baked take on the matter.

How many states have the gas, hydro, or geothermal resources for the turbines? Or you think electricity just comes out of thin air?

This news reminds me of my recent thought when I saw the power lines that run freely in streets at Ota. What if a vandal like this happens to those poles?? God forbid!!
