It's unimaginable to think that these kidnappers collected the ransom and other items and are still in the forest in Nigeria, DSS, SSS, police, army, air force, etc can not trace and apprehend them... Before you know it, another kidnapping will happen and we will forget this one and start discussing the new one... APC is bad

nairalanda1:
1. At some point, we got to stop paying these ransoms, then when the kidnappers wake up and see there is no money in it, they would immediately end the business.

Yes, I know I am advocating something that is 'bad' and yes, I probably won't follow my advice if (God forbid) someone close to me, or loved one was kidnapped. But at some point, we got to stop giving these people money. The more money we pay them, the more they will kidnap, the more they will attract more people into the business. When would it stop.?

2. We got to fund our police better, and the police themselves should set up a specialist anti-kidnapping squad. It is time we fought this thing fire for fire. Enough is enough. It is obvious this cannot be fought the current way, we got to change the methods of warfare now.

3. Yes it is bad that we got APC again for another 4 years. But, let us put pressure on them still to lead us well. If dem no hear us, dem go see people's wrath on the streets soon. Also, put pressure on your governor and LG chairman. Not to be grumbling on nairaland we go do am.
Why do you think people pay these ransomes themselves? Because the system failed them.

Yes, it is a good idea to fund the police very well and the Naigeerian police can be effective when they want. But the MAIN problem is CORRUPTION the funds will be diverted into private pockets and it would be these same citizens that would enable the funds to be looted.

What is needed is the sensitization of the mindset of Naigeerians on corruption, Starting with don't accept bribe, don't give bribe, report any activities of corruption, don't engage in corruption and if any corrupt pratises are reported actions must be taken against the culprits, not just push the case under the carpets, corrupt practises should be purnished, otherwise nothing will ever change, i guarantee you, nothing will change.

Corruption is the problem.

Most of them voted for Tinubu....

Tinubu has been a terrible disappointment...

And to be honest I do not think that Atiku and Obi could have fared any better.

The way to go is state and community policing....

Am surprised that Tinubu, with all the hype around him, regarding his political sagacity couldn't muster the political will to initiate state policing by lobbying the legislators.

Abeg stop this bullshit of linking Tinubu's failure with any other candidate, it is getting irritating, how can you fail a whole class because you marked the first candidates paper and he failed...

Make your talk and leave other candidates out of it, stop trying to console your self that all of them are the same, human beings are not the same, even as bad Buhari was he is still different from Tinubu....

Judge them only when they become president....

Tinubu is responsible for the hardship in the country by removing subsidy without due diligence, floating the naira and many other wrong economy policy which is anti people. This has led to kidnapping business
Did kidnapping start in 2023/2024?. Typical ipob.

Judge them by their precedents.

POINTERS TO TOTAL COLLAPSE OF SECURITY SYSTEM IN NIGERIA.

Police earlier said that the children were rescued from the kidnappers.

Gov Oyebanju earlier said he and other governors kept night vigil for the children's release.
Alas, it turns out that even market women helped to contribute money to get the children released.

You see that milk thing in particular. I know it's a thing among hard labourers and rural drug addicts and other people like that. They consider it important for their replenishment.

And as per say the original money must remain complete, they must collect that separately.
