All these Wale Edu, Cardoso are tired heads. They have been out of show as far as managing the socioeconomic space is concerned. Wale Edu is talking of boosting agriculture while forgetting the what we are experiencing is due to sustained attack and sacking of farmers within the major food belts of Nigeria over the past decade. So what's the old man talking about |

How do you focus on Agriculture when the Fulani herdsmen are killing farmers? How won’t price of everything go up when you Jack up customs import duty, remove subsidy, And now the Naira is on a spiral fall. Nigeria is an import driven country. Trying to frustrate imports will have a negative Ripple effect on the economy. There is no Manufacturing companies to drive exports because diesel is around 1300 / liter . FDI have gone down because investors don’t feel safe investing in a country ravaged by insecurity & Mismanagement by The current Federal government. Tinubu and his boys should hand over the baton of power if they have no idea of how to run a country. Nigeria is bigger than Lagos 1 Like |

Clueless and inept people who forced themselves on Nigerians. What were they thinking? You removed subsidy scam without making any provision for the masses. Only grammar on paper. Fulani herdsmen and terrorists pursued people from their farms and no definite action was taken while they're all carrying AK47 around, with the coninvance of some officials in the military. What were they thinking when there are 2 constitutions, one for the rich and ruling class and the other for ordinary Nigerians? What were they thinking when they defended the 8 years of Buhari despite all the public outcry? What were they thinking when a ruling party is an automatic sanctuary for the corrupt and the fantastically corrupt - once you join, you become a saint. What were they thinking when the ordinary Nigerians who complain about bad governance by DSS and the police while the thieving Nigerians are looting the country dry? What were they thinking when Buhari borrowed 32B dollars and got EMEFIELE to print trillions in naira for the ruling class to loot? What were they thinking? If Nigeria were to be a company, it would have folded up long ago. If it were to be a marriage, it would have failed long ago. If Nigeria were to be a human being, it would have rotted in the grave because poor management, bad governance, illegality, fraud and all the unthinkable things that the leaders have unleashed on the country. Which entity, real or imagined can survive what Buhari and his gang did to this country, yet no one is facing charges anywhere. Even the days of military rul did not damage this country 1/10th of what these thieving and corrupt politicians have done to this country. If your father or mother or sister, brother, uncle, any relative at all has held any political position or has been up to the level of permanent secretary in this country, just know that you and your lineage are the ones who have wreaked havoc on this country. If you have a policeman or someone working with INEC as a family member, know that you too are owing this country. Instead of DSS going after these thieves, they will waste public funds going after innocent Nigerians who are suffering from and only complaining about the evil brought upon our land by these politicians. You can't beat a child and not expect him to cry. Instead of providing credible intelligence and recommendations to the man in Aso Rock to do better, instead of telling him the bitter truth that people can no longer feed, not to talk of feeding well, that people can't pay fees again, that people cannot buy the basic necessities of life and that if this is not handled properly, it might lead to more protests, they will spend money to track and gag those who use their money to buy data and complain online. Instead of telling the President the truth, they will show him bogus figures and tell him how the economy is doing well, yet garri is sold 1cup for N100. Beans is sold for N250 a cup, Rice is sold for N350 a cup. Even during the famine in Egypt, even during the drought in Samaria, things were not this costly. One message to the President is that he should know that it is not everyone that is driving in a convoy. It is not everyone that is living in his house, it is not everyone that is ignorant of the price of basic foodstuff. The economy has never been this bad. Someone said that up till today 6th of February 2024, University workers, polytechnic workers, COE workers have not been paid January salary. How can this be? When you know that they have mouths to feed. When you know that Christmas has just passed, when they either travelled or hosted family members during the season, and you know how much you pay them. Do you want them and their family to die of starvation? You know that transportation was very high, you know they will pay school fees, you know they will pay rent, you know they may have to pay medical bills, you know that what you're paying them is peanuts compared to the cost of living. How then do you dare hold their salaries for a day longer? Many who are my friends keep calling me to borrow them money, how can you not pay them? Is it that you no longer know how to process their salaries or the people who used to do so have japa-ed from your broken economy? Or those who used to handle it have been driven out while ethnic people without adequate skills have been drafted to take over. My question is, these men go to other countries. They join queue, they behave like humans, they see how humans behave in an organized manner, they see how leaders are held accountable, how police do their jobs, how the system runs itself. Yet when they come back, they behave like animals in a zoo? Are Nigerian leaders truly animals that shd be RULING in the zoo? AS LONG AS SOME PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED TO CARRY AK47 FREELY TO DRIVE PEOPLE AWAY FROM THEIR FARMLANDS, FOOD PRICES WILL KEEP SOARING. AS LONG AS GOVT REMAINS INEPT AND CORRUPT, NOTHING WILL WORK. AS LONG AS WE KEEP HAVING ETHNIC CHAMPIONS AND DESPOTS AS LEADERS, FOOD PRICES WILL KEEP SOARING BECAUSE IT is Politics THAT DETERMINES HOW MUCH A CUP OF RICE IS SOLD FOR. KNOW THIS AND CHANGE YOUR WAYS. 1 Like |

I don't agree with Edun atal. Thought he is a smart man. Rise in food prices is not a demand and supply issue. What about the cost of production. Hmm. |
Re: FG Laments High Cost Of Food by ufotunang: 11:41pm On Feb 06 |
It's the high costs of fuel, disel...the rising dollars causing the high costs of food stuffs and goods... reduce the prices of fuel, disel and strengthen the naira against the dollars |

These people are wicked. Shey na money wey no dey anywhere na him people dey use hoard food. Na money wey no dey anywhere na him farmers wan use boost agricultural production. These mofos are too comfortable to feel our pain. And as a matter of fact they just don’t care. And that is the truth. Developed countries have comfortable politicians that still work hard to do good things for their people but no be for naija. |

This people keep thinking like babies what has agriculture got to do with high cost of food and other commodities the farmers are doing their best, the extortion is too much. THE task being paid b4 food and other commodities is being ship to other state is 3much. For transporting an item from lagos or any northern state to the southeast the drivers will have to pay Police, Army and other authorities more than 20k including the high cost of petrol. The negative infect on food cost is based on the task or extortion carried out before food and other commodities arrive it destination. Reduce the fuel prize b4 u talk about agriculture pls |
Re: FG Laments High Cost Of Food by Lincton: 3:19am On Feb 07 |
“It is the issue of demand and supply and a lot of emphasis has been placed on increasing agricultural production, in particular". Imagine doing something in the same way and expecting different results. How could insecurity be paramount everywhere and we expect food supplies? |
Re: FG Laments High Cost Of Food by Alabule: 3:46am On Feb 07 |
For 8 years the former President was always expressing shock. Now the present FG's style is to lament for the next years. |
Re: FG Laments High Cost Of Food by Deemas(m): 4:57am On Feb 07 |
APC said it's the opposition that is sponsoring people to protest against rise in prices. Now that the FG is lamenting for same reason, can we also say that the opposition is the one sponsoring the FG to lament? Naija is truly an unserious country 1 Like |

saintjimos:The same government said the protests in some states were sponsored. Same government said Nigeria has the lowest cost of living in Africa. Same government said the price of food is cheapest in Nigeria. It's like they just say anything they like and expect you to pick the one that appeals to you. then go on social media to argue. 1 Like |

jimcaddy: But Obi said he was going to remove subsidies “on day one”, so this would still be happening if he was president. All your major presidential candidates back the IMF/Bretton Woods economic ideology - historically known to wreck developing economies - and there’s virtually no difference between them in terms of economic policy. So what is all this grammar you’re speaking? |

Re: FG Laments High Cost Of Food by Pascal9: 11:03am On Feb 07 |
Stop breeding like pigs, your population is becoming unsustainable, its the simple truth, people that are hardest hit in this hard times are people with large families, your land is not increasing, the larger the population the greater the pressure on land |
Re: FG Laments High Cost Of Food by Acidosis(m): 11:52am On Feb 07 |
Love800: Your money is losing value. Someone bought a Tokunbo car for N4m in 2022. Few weeks ago, he's selling the now "Nigerian used and battered" car for N6m. In classical economics, a car is a liability (meaning that used Nigerian car should be worth only N2m) but under BATnomics, a car is now an asset. The actual liability right now is your Naira. The more Naira you have, the closer you are to bankruptcy. 1 Like 1 Share |

Okay. The investments in food you were talking about, what are they? Acidosis: |
Re: FG Laments High Cost Of Food by Acidosis(m): 3:14pm On Feb 07 |
Love800: So rather than buy rice and other food items in small quantities, you can buy your food stuff in bags (larger quantities). If the free fall of the Naira continues, you would have to spend more Naira buying fewer food items without any assurance that your income (especially when you're a salary earner) will increase in tandem. I am aware that many times we are scared, wondering whether prices won't fall tomorrow. Lol. History is the greatest teacher. I read a story of a man in the North who bought thousands of Dangote sugar at N30k per bag, stored all. Today, a bag is worth almost N70k. Some called him names and said he's one of the people causing hyperinflation but that's completely false. You would only be causing inflation by storing scarce commodity. Sugar dey everywhere, rice is not scarce either, so buy as much as you can, and be strategic. Prices of certain items MAY fall and others may not. $1 is currently 15,000 Lebanese pound. Like Nigeria, their free fall started from N1,000. If nothing inspires us enough to plan ahead, the Lebanon story should. You can read up the mess they're in and how they got there. 1 Like 1 Share |
